South Park DVD set includes WoW trial
Our good friends over at Joystiq are reporting that when the 10th season DVD set of South Park drops on the 21st, a WoW trial disc will be included in the box.Kind of a weird choice, considering that the game's portrayal in the Emmy-nominated show isn't exactly flattering (or, realistic, though it does look cool). The episode is even featured on the cover, bloated acne-scarred Cartman and all.
But you never know-- clearly Blizzard is looking for all kinds of ways to promote their game (I can't imagine what lengths they'll go to when the movie comes out in a few years), and maybe this, the mob of South Park DVD-buying fans, is just what they need to hit 10 million. You probably don't need a trial disc (they are available for free or cheap in many places already), but in case you want a copy of the season in which the kids save the world... of Warcraft, it's up on Amazon right now.

Bad publicity is publicity too! ;)

I think wowinsider needs to learn how to take a joke. Especially from a show like South Park, where poking fun at everything is kinda their ENTIRE thing.
It was actually pretty honest as well as funny. They actually showed how fun wow can be, as well as how frustrating it can be. I also showed that everyone plays the game, though there is a large contingent of "1337" gamers within the super-high-level-no-lifers. So, why wouldn't Blizzard support this? Because the commentary was true?

This was the funniest episode ever. It has been saved on my tivo since it first aired, and I watch it at least once a week!

For what it's worth, I had never played World of Warcraft before that South Park episode, though I'd heard of it. But the episode looked so vivid, and when a friend told me that was pretty close to what it looked like, I gave it a shot.
I now have a Level 55 Night Elf Hunter who is looking forward to reaching the Outland and the Burning Crusades.
Don't underestimate the marketing value to Blizzard from that episode. I think including a free trial with the DVD is a brilliant idea.

This article is crap, South Park brought WOW thousands of new players for free and they'd better kiss the ground where Trey Parker walks.

He ain't been doing a lot of stuff for some time, lately, they say he's been mostly only into management and voice acting.
