LFG releases teaser, promises feature length film
Here's some really interesting news from the guys who make the popular Looking For Group comic: a feature film is in the works. Sohmer, who runs Blind Ferret Entertainment (which is also working on projects for PvP and Ctrl-Alt-Delete), says that the company is going to make a "75-80 minute feature film" (animated, of course) starring the LFG gang.
And the piece above is a "teaser" for the movie, tentatively titled "LFG: The Origin of Dick." (The character in the video above, if you haven't read the comic, is named Richard). No word on whether the whole movie will consist of songs, or song parodies, but the short is pretty well done, and so if that's any indication, the full-length movie will be a good time. Not to mention quite an achievement-- are there any other online comics that have gone on to support a feature film? I can't think of any.
Of course, that's assuming the comic can actually support it. We'll find out when it releases-- Blind Ferret says they're targeting it for late 2008.

"(The Mage in the video above, if you haven't read the comic, is named Richard)"
I think he might actually be a warlock.

Hello
I've read the whole comic so far, and as I can remember, the Richard ( guy in the video ) is warlock, or at least is treated like one in comics. Quite strange, since he uses Fire and Frost spells, and still, all other characters in comic are caling him Warlock. At least that's how I understod those thing.
Bye

We all know Warlocks start out as Mages...the forums tell us so. :)
Baluki Aug 8th 2007 2:17PM
Wow. I can't watch that with sound right now, but it looks great, and seems pretty funny.
freelancerbob Aug 8th 2007 2:24PM
Pretty sure it would be hard to be as awesome
(-ly evil) as Richard and NOT be a warlock
RaydenUni Aug 8th 2007 2:26PM
Yeah. Mages don't really torch orphanages in self defense. Nor do they have demons that they summon. Richard is a warlock.

"I am Richard, chief Warlock of the Brothers of Darkness, Lord of the Thirteen Hells, Master of the Bones, Emperor of the Black, Lord of the Undead. And the mayor of a little village up the coast - very scenic during springtime. You should visit sometime."
He IS a Warlock, with some degree of elemental mastering, and meelee abilities as well. As he said once, "I have drained the soul of a Monk".

Then what's with the frost, eh?

Wow, they sure put a lot of effort into making something so awful. I like a good horror movie just like the next guy. But that was a bit too much and it wasn't even funny. It was just messed up.

-5 points for Little Mermaid parody.

I agree with #9. I've seen much violence in my day but I just didn't like this one... over the top.

I agree with 9 and 10, I've seen movies like Faces of Death and Ichi the Killer, but that was just really screwed up, because that is not what WoW is about at all or not nearly that gruesome.
honkhonk Aug 8th 2007 3:11PM
the warlock I played the past half year has about 10000 kills to his name, I'd hardly call that bit of springcleaning in the movie over the top.
gundamxzero Aug 8th 2007 4:37PM
Not funny at all, cheesy and it tries to make up for that with tons of violence.

I agree with #9 and 10. Seeing a baby dead on a plate with an apple in its mouth surrounded by crying women was pretty disturbing....
And if you agree with the author's comment:
"No word on whether the whole movie will consist of songs, or song parodies, but the short is pretty well done, and so if that's any indication, the full-length movie will be a good time."
You really need to get some help.

Sweet... Seriously people... it's Richard he's all about the kill, remember the 'bar incident'! complaining about all the killing in on village... well that's just silly if you follow the context. PErsonally I loved the puppy punt... and I love dogs!
I shall wait for as long as it takes for this gem. I shall wait... for pony.

Remeber the time on The Simpsons where Rod and Todd watch Itchy and Scratchy for the first time, and they look pale? Yeah, I'm feel'n that right now. I like the comic, and there were funny parts, but this honestly disturbed me just a bit. I don't care if the character's a warlock, this was not graphic, but it was creepy.
That said, Animation and voice work was top notch. Just... ::shiver::

Bwahaha! I love Richard, he's so dry humored and demented. He's like Khorne if Khorne were humorous and interesting. ^_^

@11
That's the spirit.

Aside from the horrific scansion of some parts of the song, they might need to be careful about the songs at all, since they're using the exact tune of "Part of Your World".
The law on such things is murky at best, but they're not making fun of "The Little Mermaid", just retooling the lyrics, which may take it entirely out of parody and into satire - the latter which is not a defence to copyright infringement. Note that artists like Weird Al get permission, and others (like in The Simpsons) at least tweak the tune so it is reminiscent, but not an exact copy of, the original music.
