Blue Notes: Windfury and voice chat
Shaman's Windfury Totem is being hotfix-nerfed:Windfury Totem will no longer trigger for any "yellow" attacks unless they are on next swing attacks, such as Heroic Strike and Cleave
That is fairly significant, I think. And those of us who are anxious to test out voice chat (coming in patch 2.2) will be able to do so after a new PTR build being pushed tomorrow morning:
We will be activating Voice chat on the PTR with the new build tomorrow morning August 10th.
Voice chat is currently available only for parties, raids and custom channels; there is no cross-server battleground voice chat at this time.
Hortus goes on to note that it won't work for PPC Macs for the time being, but a forthcoming build will fix that soon. It's probably a good thing that VC isn't going to be active for General chat and the like; I could see that getting annoying fast. It would be nice if it worked for guild chat though.

haha, now they aren't even waiting for the patch till they nerf the most underpowered class in the game. gg blizz.

Thats not a huge nerf to shaman, more a nerf to the synergy btw. shammies and wars / rogues. In fact, Im not even sure shaman have any yellow dmg melee attacks at all?

Stormstrike is yellow
Tool Aug 9th 2007 9:42PM
is that just the totem or the skill to just apply it to your wep also?
Well at least they're looking at shammy... and finding all the wrong things.
schroey Aug 9th 2007 10:06PM
It applies to the totem, not to our own weapon buff. So Stormstrike wouldn't be affected by this.

Bye Bye Spamstring.../sigh

Wait didn't they already try that with wf totem and then changed it back? Such a pointless change.
Baluki Aug 10th 2007 1:21AM
Jesus friggin' crap. Just remove Windfury completely and be done with it. It's just not worth the hassle.

As others have said, this only effect WF Totem. It does not effect the WF Shaman can put on their weapons.
That said, this is a HUGE nerf to Shaman synergy in raids and Arena. But you know what, it may be a needed one. I play a arena warrior, and the damage that we can put out when paired with a Shaman that throws down WF totem is just ridiculous. It's was probably around a 30% or more increase in damage. And if it proc'ed on all swings of a Whirlwind, it was devastating in PvP.
As sad as this is, it's really a nerf directed at Warriors. (much like priest Shadow Weaving was nerfed to nerf Warlocks).

The MS warriors in my guild were bitching up a storm about this change last night during the raid. Pretty stupid change, if you ask me.

Um - for guild chat...god I hope not. We've been known to have 40 or more people online at once. We don't need all that chatter in one channel. At least in parties and raids there's a certainly level of expectation that you keep unnecessary chatter to a minimum.

So if they are just now implementing Voice Chat to ptr, they will probably test it for at least 2 weeks, absolutely insane that they decided to wait util the next content patch to fix my freaking shoulders, go ahead and flame you jabronies, you can't anger me as much as these part favors on my shoulders, but when they are restored to there original state and my lebido is back, I'm coming for you.
Arya Aug 10th 2007 10:51AM
We're sorry, you seem to be misreading the patch notes.
The 'error' with the orc shoulders is that they were shrunk too soon. As of next content patch, the orc race will be reduced in size comparable to the gnomes to provide more size balance between the factions.
Blizz just screwed up and made the orc shoulders small too soon - but take heart, orcs, when you shrink to one-third size next patch, your shoulders will match again.

I can't wait to see how badly they implement in-game voice chat.
Does anyone remember when they implemented raid elements copied from the CT Raid add-on? Standard practice for them is to copy features from great add-ons/3rd party programs, try to implement them into the standard UI, then break them horribly.
I don't think Ventrillo use in WoW is going to decline much. It'll give noobs that don't even know what Ventrillo is an option for voice chat. But most guilds that are worth anything will still be using Vent.

The voice chat FAQ is up!

Says they may implement guild chat eventually. For now it's Raids(not Cross-Server BG Raids), Parties, and Custom Chat Channels. For now, I guess a guild could get into a custom guild chat channel and talk.
