Cross-faction guilds

When I read GlassThorne's idea for a cross-faction guild, I admit I was intrigued. There has been a lot of talk lately about whether or not there should be some sort of joint effort between the factions. In some ways we have had that with The Burning Crusade as we are fighting a common enemy, the Burning Legion. A lot of players would like to be able to learn languages of the other factions in order to communicate as an Orc say, with those players in Stormwind.
I really love her idea of creating a coalition between a Horde guild and an Alliance one, communicating via instant messengers and Ventrilo, especially since this is proposed for a RP server. It's certainly a novel idea, and challenging enough that it might be worth a try. Have you ever considered (or even created) a cross-faction guild? How would this create/enhance/hamper/destroy game elements that we are currently familiar with?

Narrow Path on Thunderhorn already has a 'cross faction' guild setup.
We go on both sides, and even have events with both sides together.

I miss the old days, everyone's too live and let live now.

I've considered it, but not for long. It's against the EULA.

Definitely not an original idea. Lots of these already exist. One I remember is the We Know / We No guild - http://weknow.to

On Maelstrom, there are Goon (Somethingawful.com) guilds for both factions, and they have teamed up for numerous events, such as simultaneously taking out the boats/zeppelins for both factions. The two best uses however are to take out "hits" on fellow faction members, where we use the opposing faction to gank them for us. The other use is to have our sister guild sent tells to other alliance/horde players on our behalf, in the rare cases of trying to carebear grind in the same area.

Madoran has the Friends of Fantasy (Alliance) and Fiends of Fantasy (Horde). I'm pretty sure they're the same guild, but it's an interesting idea.

yah my guilds been doing this for a while. cant quit you on the bealgun server. we have around 315 members between the two guilds. communication between characters, ventrilo, and our forums. prob with this kind of guild set up is too many ppl are fanboys. for instance, a good number of our alliance guild hate our horde counterpart, and vise versa.

Yup,it can work :)
My guild, Strength in honor/honour on Medivh, has been duel faction since the games launch. It has its challenges, but the positives by far outweigh them.
makes guild pictures awesome :)

Since you read WoW Ladies, you know about the Daughters of the Alliance and the Daughters if the Horde on Bronzebeard. Pretty crossfaction to me, most of the DotA ladies have DotH toons and vice versa. We also invite them to all our social events etc.

Not on a PvP server... ever. And if it can be supported by all servers I don't think you will see any content added to encourage it.

EQ2 has cross faction guilds on pve and pvp. But everyone speaks Common and whatever other languages they pick up along the way. Then again EQ2 gives you the options to changes sides whenever you want.
