Escape Artist facing raised cooldown?

Are they toying with the Escape Artist cooldown? I sure thought this thread, after reading the first post today, would get closed down but quick, but instead, after a player asked for Escape Artist to be removed from the game, Drysc offered the compromise of a cooldown.Wait, what? Was he joking? Escape Artist, the Gnome racial ability that allowed them to ditch any roots once per minute, got a nice buff and was made instant cast at 2.0, but I hardly think it's overpowered enough that it deserves a cooldown. Drysc's comment seems a lot like a joke (and an MVP shows up later in the thread to "deny" the change), but could the ability be facing a nerf in the form of a longer cooldown?
Advocates for it point to Will of the Forsaken, another "break free" racial ability (it allows Forsaken to break fear once every two minutes, and if EA is nerfed, it would probably be given a two minute cooldown). But WotF also provides 5 seconds of fear immunity after being used, and EA doesn't provide any immunities at all.
Hopefully this is all a moot point, and Drysc was just messing with Gnomes (a hilarious pastime to be sure). But it could also mean that the little kneebiters are looking at an upcoming nerf.

oh that's crap... I mean, fine.. then I want all of the other racials to be nerfed.
QQ more people... one of the reason I chose a gnome was Escape Artist. Blizz doesn't let me turn my toon into other races, so they shouldn't mess with the racials that were in place when I made a choice I can't alter.

Difference between EA and Will to me is that one's going to help you but rarely entirely turn a fight. Now as most alliance on a PVP server can tell you Will can entirely swing things.

I think this is the second post in the past week that has taken an obvious joke made by the CMs and treated it like it's a serious comment.

Wow, just wow. When the best alliance race to make a warrior is a GNOME, who shouldn't be alowed to be a warrior in the first place, then there is something wrong. Oh noes, it doesn't give you 5 second immunity? No it doesn't, but 5 seconds after you use it that mage is already dead, so whatever. WotF is also good only against warlocks, priests and rarely against warriors. EA is good against rogues, warriors, hunters, mages and shamans, see the difference?

You said it right there, the reason you have chosen a gnome is to PEW PEW LOL U CANT ROOT ME racial ability. No one, who have any idea about the game mechanics, who wants to PvP and don't care about how his character looks like will ever roll other race for an alliance warrior then a gnome. There is more Gnome warriors then Troll warriors, you know, those guys who have BERSERKING racial ability? Remember that quote from Time Gnomes: "uhm, she is a Troll warrior, did she just misclick there"?
You might feel it's fine on your gnome warlock, or maybe even on a gnome mage, but on a melee class, that's another story.

The problem with racials is that 2 years ago they were neat, and useful.
Now with alot of changes in the game, those racials give a distinct advantage over other races of the same class.
That is atleast the compliant on the Priest boards.

Honestly, racial abilities should vary not because people QQ about it, but vary based on server type. Follow me on this.
Blizzard already does not allow you xfer toons from non-pvp to pvp. Racial abilities like EA and Will make sense having a longer cooldown where your only enemy are the mobs out there. PVP, I could see racials having a 30-45 second cd. The racials mentioned seem more suited for PVP anyway.
Non-PVP: 2 minute cd.
PVP: 30 second cd.
