Legendary Thread with Cory Stockton
Legendary Thread, 1up's WoW podcast, has a special Blizzcon episode up with Cory Stockton, WoW's lead level designer and a new name to me. It's a fun chat, covering topics from Dalaran to Naxx to new hair. It also contains some interesting new information on Death Knights. Note that this isn't finalized but is, according to Stockton, the way the devs are leaning at the moment.- Doing the quest to unlock a DK will give you a new hero slot, in which you can make a DK.
- This means you would need to redo it if you wanted to make a second DK; it's unknown whether you can have more than one hero slot per realm, though.
- This also means you (hopefully) won't be stopped from making one by having ten characters on a realm.

His voice reminds me *so* much of Kael'thas in Azerothian Supervillains. Geeky and nerdy (and sexy?)
Podcast was ok, still listening.
But WRT a second hero class, I'm predicting it will be added in the beta test, or at least as part of a patch. We need more healers, IMO.

That's good news on the hero slot idea. I was already trying to figure out which toon I would have to delete... and I don't want to delete any of them!

Oh come on now, how else could Blizz milk us for more? of course a second Hero will be released with the "next" expansion. Just like SoE did with EQ they will spit out expansions once every 6-12 months and release a new hero each time they release and expansion to "keep you on the hook!"
What? You didn't see that coming?! Silly you!

@3: Based on what they've been doing with the BC expansion, it looks like Blizzard does plan to release new content every few months. But I don't see them charging extra for it, do you? There will be at least 3 releases with additional features and content between the Burning Crusade and Lich King expansions (2.1, 2.2, 2,3), which are all *free* content.
Now if they include one hero class with the initial LK release (3.0), I'm sure that they'll be adding more in the 3.x series. I don't know how many hero classes we'll end up with, but I'm confident that there will be at least two.

if he's not mistaken on the idea that only one hero class in the entire Lich King expansion... huge mistake.
Very huge mistake really, on a lot of fronts in the game.
Especially if you get "A" hero slot. %99.6 of all the people in the game will unlock their hero slot and put a death knight in it. (if I understand what he's saying correctly, and there's no guarantee that I do).
Then, when Expansion 2009 comes out everyone will have used their hero slot. So they'll have a L80 Death knight that may or may not be geared out but definitely will have had some leveling and experience added to the slot.
Considering the bitching that happened when people had to give up L1 gimmick characters and bank alts to roll a new race character when BC came out and they had their account full... how's it going to go down when people are told they have to delete a *L80* character that may have a lot of Arena points or some good purple gear, in order even -try- the new 2nd 'hero' class?
I'm predicting an Epic Fail here, and it could very well be the downfall of WoW in general if it comes to 2009 and people can't even play the new Hero Class without deleting one. It'll also be a big joke too if everyone can just roll up 5-6 heroes on every account because they have to make an extra slot for every whiner out there because Blizzard pissed around and trickled heroes out, rather than all at once.
Hrmph.
Not Good.

I'm pretty sure that talent calculator is in chinese not korean. I was really stoked on checking it out because I can read korean, alas it was not to be.

If people don't want to delete their Death Knight with Expansion 3, then don't make a Death Knight. Simple as that. Everyone and their mother will already have Death Knights for themselves. We'll have too much dps and tanking, and not enough healing. And they already said that the term "Hero class" only applies to them starting at a higher level. At level 80, they'll be even with everyone else. So if you have a high-level warrior already, you don't have a reason to make a Death Knight. Just wait it out and get a Hero in the following expansion.

Well, if I read this right, ANY class can get to level 80 and do the quest to unlock a 'Hero Slot?' And as soon as you have that hero slot, you can make a death knight? Because I have a druid (lvl 70) and I really dont want to start another pally/warrior/etc, get him to 80, and become a death knight. :(
