transformers.
poilbrun Aug 16th 2007 8:19AM
Easy: pirates (they're in WoW) and ninjas.
Extra points for pirate ninjas.
finlator Aug 16th 2007 8:27AM
Fat chicks. In WoW even the old ladies are skinny. A little variety please? I like big butts and I cannot lie.
Paw Aug 16th 2007 8:27AM
Naked pirate ninja transformers...wwith a compelling story?
Completely customizable appearance (at create screen)...WoW is laking here.
Scaleable dungeons...hopefully they are working on it.
Wall to wall bear, boar and cats...check
Completely customizable interface...allowable

I'd prefer a world PVP model more along the lines of how they did it in Dark Age of Camelot -- that is, a few high level zones that are PvP only, even on non-PvP servers. Don't put quests in there; just make the bonus given for controlling the zone worth fighting for.
Elsanto Aug 16th 2007 8:40AM
Yep... Naked pirate ninja transformer fat chicks...I'm not too fussed about a compelling story, but I'm sure there'd be one there.

If you have punch and pie, then everyone will come to your MMO.

I like it the way it is, but I would love several features like:
* more models for each race, like a big guy for a warrior/ slim for a rogue,
*ships/zeps should have faction aligned crews (deckhand, sailor, captain),
* more non-violent quests (in which you don't have to slay countless mobs) and less grinding quests,
* more treasures in the open world,
* mages should have the ability to fly like in Warcraft 3,
* summon scorpions/spiders for mages (like in Warcraft 1)
* desguises (like ninja)
* copter flying mount (tradable and made by engineers at max lvl)
* turtle sub (war2)
* throwable lighning hammers, like the dwarf ones from Shadowmoon Valley (alliance)
* game master rank for myself, lol

Some of what I wanted to see is coming up:
- Voice chat - check
- Ability to change hair styles - check
- An entire PvP zone - check (assuming they do a good job on it)
Now if only they'd cave and make a Woodworking profession.

World of Warcraft COULD be it. I really think, though, it either needs more replayability in the middle levels, or the ability to roll a 60 after you've reach 70 on a server. Blizzard either does not have enough resources to do both endgame and mid-level content, or they think it is not a good use of resources. I just want to be able to see Grim Batol, Uldam, what's behind the Greyman Wall, anything interesting in Ashara, Mount Hyjal today, etc. there's a lot in Azeroth that is incomplete. I just want them to complete it.

I'd like to see one, two and/or three man dungeons. Something that could take days or weeks to successfully clear and that would have drops worthy of the effort, perhaps class-related...
Otacon Aug 16th 2007 9:14AM
laser guided missiles facing Stormwind :)
Diana Aug 16th 2007 9:29AM
Yes @ 10! I would love to see a two man dungeon. As a working mom, my time is limited and grouping can be difficult when I have to cut an run to take care of a baby. Being able to earn awesome gear while soloing or grouping with one person would be a great way to gear out my character.
I would also like to see a wizard class, maybe one with little dragon familars, but I just love little dragons.

How about grab-bag stuff for meeting certain milestones. Similar to LOTRO. Upon killing your 500th swine you get some title that means nothing except for the amusement it brings in having "Erzse, Baconmaster" hovering over my warlock's head. Upon reaching the 100th time having been ganked, "Erzse, Distributor of Honor Points".
I disagree with the statement earlier that Blizzard doe snot have the resources. It has some of the reasources to expand the mid AND upper level content. With a conservative estimate of USD $150 million gross from monthly subscriptions alone, I think they can afford to retain the services of some very fine coders to work both aspects of the game. That being said, I think the perfect MMO, regardless of genre, is compelling, one, and continuously expanding in ALL directions, two. Few games do both. Few companies can afford to do both. Blizzard can and should.

Player housing with a spot to show anything interesting you have acquired. What better thing than to have a house where you could place all your tier armor sets, instead of keeping them in your bank, or turn them into shards like myself :(.
Also get that woodworking profession up and running and make them able to craft deeds that allow you to place furniture in home for decoration. Tailers can make rugs, skinners can make animal heads on the wall etc etc. Miners can make diamonds for decorating etc etc, make all professions able to craft home decorations.
Also allow according to amounts of money, the type of home they can purchase from a template. The larger the home, the more gold to invest. Make it a hard thing to get as well, the cheapest home would be 5000 for a single room shack, and up to 25,000 for a nice 3 floor mansion. Make the largest buildings meant for guild halls etc etc. Costing a massive amount of gold that the guild can contribute to accomplish. I would say the largest item would be 100,000 gold for a 4 story, and an arena for dueling. Make them huge gold sinks to raise the value of gold even more, would be very nice.
The homes would be instance based so you can invite up to 40 people in your home via raid invites. Also make an option available to turn the house into the guild house so the instance could be entered by anyone in the guild. You can also access the guild bank in the home that is designated as the guild hall. (Only availbe to guild leaders, and of course 1 home per toon, therefore making only 1 guild hall per guild).
The biggest thing is customization, allow the purchase of different homes from templates, but make them empty, you must decorate it yourself. It adds variety to homes, plus a reason other than raiding to the game. Who doesn't want to show off stuff to friends?
I beleive that if you have some other stuff to work for(thats why UO lasted so long) you can hold onto your player base for much longer.
Anyway that's my idea :P!!! Long write up, maybe make a new topic on the subject lol, id like to here what other people think of player housing?
Samhamwich Aug 16th 2007 9:29AM
I would also like to add that the ability to have a "showcase" room, might make people go back to the old instaces to collect their old sets. What better way to get people to go back to the old stuff and revisit if you have a whole room in every hosue design that has empty showcases, im sure that would make people go out and fill them up!!!! Starting right back at the tier 0 stuff,(oh god devout, devout devout :P)and all the way up to the most current tier armor)
Arawn Aug 16th 2007 9:36AM
Heroic versions of every instance would be hawt.
Scaling epic gear...a la DnD 3.5 (tabletop, not MMO) where you can pay people to add features to the same suit of armor or weapon as you level. If I wrest something from Rag's cold...er...hot...dead hands, I want to be able to keep using it and souping it up as I level.
Solo quests.
Solo instanced areas.
A "character sacrifice" when the inevitable sequel comes out...example: you have WoW with a level 70 character, you can sacrifice it in order to ramp up the experience you get per mob or quest as you level in WoW 2.

Don't try and make the game more realistic, I love the look and feel, BUT adding real-world things alongside the stunning sunsets and clouds would be amazing. Weather was a great step. Wind would be good. Changes of seasons? Tides? Waves? I guess just other bits and pieces that just make the world feel like a living breathing entity (to try and offset the creatures ping-ponging back and forth screaming at you that it's not). One of the things that I've enjoyed in my time is sitting on the end of a jetty watching the sun set. Anything like this that can make me sit for a while and really get sucked into and connected with the warcraft world is going to get my vote.
KateJaneway Aug 16th 2007 10:07AM
I wish Blizzard could see these suggestions, has anything noticed that not one person is asking for
"New Content" but to spruce up what we already have.
I love your ideas guys.

World of Warcraft needs -new- things to do in the game, not just a rehash of the same things over and over. Let's face it, pretty much everything you do is done by combat, hitting the same buttons over and over. There are a few exceptions, like fishing, and the bombing runs... but that's more or less it.
Where are the treasure hunts, UO style? Where are the puzzles? The ability to buy and decorate your own house, complete with a wall mounted weapon rack to show off your old outdated epix? The one-time story progression events?
Don't get me wrong, I do like WoW. It's just so much more bland than it could be.
