And the award for the most deserving death goes to...

The Darwin Award has been around since the mid 1990s. It was a chain of e-mails listing nominees that ensured the longevity of the human race by removing themselves from the gene pool through lethal acts of stupidity. Juggling hand grenades, using a lighter to check the flammability of a propane tank, jumping out of a plane without a parachute, you get the idea.
Apyllos of the Blackhand server has taken the Darwin Awards and applied them to WoW. He wants to hear the story of what player, including yourself, has died due to their own bad judgment. We're talking players that Purge their own buffs in PvP, fall off cliffs while fleeing enemies and forgetting that you've logged onto a Horde alt while riding into an Alliance town. Ouch.
Have you ever seen or done something that would qualify for a WoW Darwin award?

I logged on and while the world was still loading I hit the button for my mount macro not realizing that I was already on my flying mount 3 miles above Shattrath city. The downside of my mount macro is that is dismounts as well.

Just last night, a higher level warlock was draining life from me in Hinterlands, near the cliffs by the beach. In a moment of stupidity I switch my cape, forgetting that I already had the parachute cloak on (so now I had on my "regular" cape), jumped of the cliff to get away from the warlock, hit the parachute button...nada. Fell to my death. D'oh!

Haha, one time, I was in Gadgetzan playing a Hordie alt when I tried to talk to the Alliance flight master. I was only level 43 so those gryphons made quick work of me.

I think the most deserving death has to be when I was doing shadow labs with a mage and warrior, the warrior got mind controlled and the mage tried to pom pyroblast him, the warrior put spell reflect up just as he did this and the mage one shotted himself.

I was on a PvE server as Horde and I ran across a (Alliance) friend of mine that I'd made while playing my nelf. He was wearing new gear, so I right-clicked his portrait to see what he had equipped. Oops. He killed me rather spectacularly.

I have done the old talk to the wrong flight masters "Do'oh!" death. The Alliance one at Thorium Point has killed my Belf pally twice! You would have thought I would learned after the first pounding. Those damn Gryphons hurt!

So there I was, level 70 hunter running a minimum level hunter friend through Gnomeregan. Things are going great until we start going through the Dark Iron dwarf area. My charge moves a little too far to the right, and sure enough I see a train of 30+ dwarves running around to greet us.
She can't FD yet so I step in with any AoE I can to snag up everything. 35 dwarves vs 1 max level hunter and I almost won that fight too... took down about 30 of them.

Back in the day, leveling my Horde Hunter, I was swimming up the coast of Darotar, minding my own business, when suddenly I died. Turns out, I had gotten too far under water and had paid absolutely no mind to my breath bar. Skills: Drowning: +1. My husband still asks me occasionally when I'm going level my drowning skills some more.

When I entered Wetlands for the first time, I was trying to peer over the cliff at the mouth of the first tunnel - I fell over and instantly died.
Resed and ran back to the cliff and, not satisfied that I'd seen everything, I peered over again and - you got it fell off and died AGAIN.

A rogue in Hellfire tried to gank me by popping Sprint to go in for a Backstab, but he hit jump (For some reason) and fell off the edge of the world.
What a pity ...

I remember when my night elf druid had just hit level 10, i teleported to Moonglade to complete my bear form quest. Unfortunately (for all concerned) I timed it just as a raid group had summoned Eranikus and his Nightmare Phantasms. "Ooo - whats going on here" I thought, and promptly died, healing the phantasms in the process. Not learning my lesson the first time, I died a further 3 times trying to see what all these mounted level 60's were up to. I just feel sorry for that poor raid group....

i remember running zul'farrak with this really dumb hunter once. I kid you not, he ran into the room with all the little yellow-health-bar sacarabs and laid down a frost trap.
After he died he says, "why did they all come after me?"

You cant switch gear in combat.

I thought I could beat a Warlock...

I had just gotten flight form for my Druid, and was playing around shifting in midair since it's instant. Raiding Halaa, I saw an ally hovering above at low HP so thought I'd fly up, moonfire, and shift back to bird. After hitting the bottom of Halaani Basin I know you can't shift to bird in combat.
I've also done some of the others like porting to Moonglade during an Eranikus raid and trying to talk to/inspect the other faction.

Attacked a higher level Buck or Stag or whatever those deer things are called thinking it was a "critter" boy was I wrong. It was also mid way run to an instance with my group.
Another time was polymorphing sewer beast to laugh at it only to have it resist and chase me through stormwind, eventually one hitting me.

Oh yeah and one time I was running to SM as alliance, I thought using the unstuck feature would take me to the nearest graveyard which would be a lot closer to SM then where I was. Instead I was kicking myself in Menethil.

Why, just last night...
Doing the Hellfire forts and spotted a flagged orc warrior hovering close by. Ok, shadow priest dot dot mind blast. He fly higher. I go OOC and get on my bird to follow. He's around, ooh, 35-40% HP when the dots run through. I dismount, dot+shadow word death, then splatter on the ground.

Going from Crossroads to Thousand Needles for the first time(no flight patch) meant slogging it on foot. After getting to camp Tujaro I got bored and hit auto-run. The phone went so I went to answer it, the call took a little longer than I expected. When I came back I found my toon in a crumpled heap at the bottom of the lift. :(

My girlfriend and I had just started playing the game as NE Rogue/Druid after I bought the game for us from liking it in Beta. Well, anyhow, we were doing some quests, running south in Teldrasil toward Gnarlpine hold. Surpise Surprise, theres an edge to the island. We died about 4 or 5 times falling down to our bodies, tried to /unstuck which didnt work. Finally after some googling we found out we could spirit rez.
