WoW Moviewatch: The Bloodsail Grind
Those who have grinded faction with the Bloodsail Buccaneers are a unique bunch. They've put a lot of time and effort into alienating themselves from the Goblins (and essentially outcasting themselves from Booty Bay, Everlook, Gadgatzen, Ratchet, and Area 52) all for a swanky pirate outfit that confers no game bonuses other than making you look cool. Wouldthatbeokay, who posted this particular video, gives us a brief taste of what you'll be devoting hours of your life to doing, all in the name of a pirate hat.

I have to wonder if there will be a use for Bloodsail reputation in future expansions - beyond the Lich King expansion.

Area-52 isn't an Azeroth goblin faction.

@2 - You're looking at someone grinding booty bay bruisers to get Bloodsail rep.
@4 - See below
First a couple corrections to the main article:
I did my Bloodsail grind pre-TBC, so I can't say that you won't lose faction with Area 52 guys these days, but while I *am* an outcast from Everlook, Ratchet, Booty Bay, Gadgetzan and can't use the flight point in Marshall's Refuge (Un'Goro Crater).. and until I got higher level, I got harassed by goblins at Flame Crest (flight master isn't goblin though, so was able to use it still), my mage is perfectly accepted at Area 52 and Cosmowrench currently. I'm able to wander town, get quests (even from goblins) etc. So I think they're exempt from Bloodsail hatred.
That, and the fact that Everlook, Gad and Booty Bay all have "rep repair NPCs" outside and A52/Cosmo don't, leads me to believe that Bloodsail Admirals should be ok in Outland.
Also, it's not just a hat at Friendly level, a couple patches back they added boots, belt, pants and shirt at Neutral. No idea why they'd go and add stuff to the Bloodsail rep rewards, but happy they did. And just in case they they add more, I'm keeping my rep. Who cares if I have to shield, blink, shield, ice block, blink, etc every time I go to Caverns of Time, it's worth it :)
Couple of tips for anyone interested in doing this:
1. In your 30's or so, you can start the rep grind by killing Blackwater Raiders in the hidden pirate cove of Arathi Highlands.
2. Around level 57 or so, you should be able to start grinding Booty Bay Bruisers. If you're doing it solo, that's about as good as you can get. If you're doing it with friends, you'll get more points from killing the tauren and goblin 'leaders' of Booty Bay, but be courteous to other players who may need them for quest turnins. (they respawn fairly quickly.. within 3 mins if I recall). Just watch out for nets and guns on the guards. They hurt.
3. Don't do ANY quests event remotely near Booty Bay if you don't want to lose Bloodsail rep. I made the mistake of doing the 'giblets' quest because the NPCs involevd weren't Booty Bay faction, but I still lost 500 Bloodsail rep for just talking to the guy. Also, the Tanaris, Feralas and Hinterlands 'egg/chicken' escort quests are Booty Bay affiliated too.
4. And a nugget I've never seen published anywhere else.. during holidays, guards in Booty Bay sleep.. VERY soundly. The quest you get at friendly for the Bloodsail Admiral's Hat requires you to kill the tauren and goblin leaders of BB. I think I did this on during the "July 4th" holiday. No guards intervened when I attacked the leaders and was able to finish it without a problem. :)
When I was still running a mob kill count tracker, I had over 2000 kills just on the pirates in Arathi Highlands if I recall.
Good luck to all you would-be Pirates out there.

PS. Funny that I'm actually wearing my Bloodsail tshirt today.. only WoW related shirt I own. :)

Here is my experience with them:
A couple months before BC, I was trying to figure out something different to do on my mage. I got the Frostsaber Mount, so I decided to go for the Admiral's hat. After a few hours of killing guards in BB, I found a great spot for continuous action (On the roof near the enterance. As a frost mage you can pull about guards from about 10 different locations and kill them as they get to you.). So I spent a couple hours here and there slowly working my way to friendly. I hit Neutral the day before the last patch before BC. After the patch, I logged back on at my normal roof spot, and promptly got ripped apart by the new lvl 65 guards... Apparently they ninja buffed them in preparation for the expansion. So I had to fight lvl 65 mobs with a ton of life at 60. Screw that. Now 8 months later and epicced out in 70 gear, I still haven't been back. Maybe one of these days.

I did the grind with a RL friend. It didn't take long at all. It took maybe 5 hours tops in total if that. And it doesn't affect your standing with outlands goblins as far as I know. I did it before the expansion and I can't visit booty bay or ratchet... But I can visit area 52 without a problem.
Pirate outfit + piratespeak mod = a lot of awesome.

The thing that impresses me more than someone devoting all that JUST for a pirate's outfit (if there's a ninja faction sign me up! Pirates... nah) is...
Someone actually took the trouble to compose, write, record and sing a PIRATE song! OMG>
LOL.
