Around Azeroth: Under the loving arms of...
Reader Aryc sends us a unique perspective of the well-known Goblin statue in Booty Bay. We've seen plenty of shots of this iconic image standing in the distance in the sunrise/sunset/starry sky/etc, but this is the first time I've seen our Goblin friend up close and personal -- I can only presume that both myself and many Around Azeroth readers never bothered to swim over to the island to take a closer look. (And now you don't have to.)
Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! Or perhaps you'd just like to see more of your pics from Around Azeroth.

This statue is a reference to the statue "Christ the Redeemer", in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Even the name of the zone is "Rio's Point" (or something like that).

And yes, I'm brazilian. But I don't live in Rio de Janeiro.

how many damn times are you guys going to post the same statue?
I swear I have seen just about every angle of that thing on here in every lighting condition.

You see that statue everywhere with Goblins, even in Netherstorm. I'd assume it's Sam Steamwheedle, but jokingly I told a curious guildmate (as guild Loremaster) that it was Goblin Jesus. =P

Watch out for Mok'rash ( http://thotbott.com/c1493 ) if you visit Janiero Island. It does start a quest, though.
Have fun.
