WoW Moviewatch: The Legend of Stalvan
An enterprising Machinimist has put together a movie that tells the tragic tale of what drove Stalvan to his unforgivable deed. The production value is excellent. The use of the WoW Modeler and WoW Map Viewer is put to exceptional use. There is also wonderful use of defocus to draw your eye to different parts of the screen. My only complaint is the heavy Scottish accent of the narrator. Remember a little dwarf goes a long way.
EDIT: The Filefront stream is down. I've replaced it with the YouTube version. Thanks for the link, KateJaneway! You can also click on the READ link below to go to the Warcraftmovies.Com page that has other download options.

Actually I rather enjoyed the quest, along with the "Sven's Farmstead" line and Mor'Ladim, even if it was a load of footwork. Duskwood is great like that - atmospheric and deep.

Nice accent, but the narrator was a bit dry. All in all a well made vid, though.

Nice video. I like how it touches on Stalvan's side of the story, instead of that of an outsider.
It makes you feel bad for him...

I can't play it for more than 2 minutes without that horrible scottish accent giving me the dry heaves

That quest chain is goooood experience for a few minutes worth of running around. Once you've done it a few times on other characters (I've been through Darkshire more than once) it becomes really smooth and fast to pick up. The fight with Stalvan at the end is no picnic, but there's virtually no fighting up to that point.

Excellent I just did this series of quests.

@7 Same here... that was horrible. I couldn't understand what he was saying and one of my parents is Scottish.
Guttermouth Aug 22nd 2007 2:20PM
The Voice over was so bad that I couldn't finish it. A shame too because I was excited about the plotline. There was no emotion and the dialect very poor. ENTHUSIASM PEOPLE!!!

Ug. Horrible fake accent FTL.
Arras Aug 22nd 2007 5:25PM
Yeah, the accent was a little rough...and by rough I mean my ears are bleeding. Yet another WI movie watch gem ;)
I didn't think Stormwind was around before plague. I thought it was built after Lorderon fell?
Xiphus Aug 23rd 2007 1:54AM
@14 Stormwind had existed for a very long time before the Plague came. That was until the First War where the Old Horde tore it down. It was rebuilt after the end of the Second War, and stayed intact until after the Third War (that's when the Plague swept through Lordaeron).

I had to stop it because of the accent. It was horrible. Let me know if same movie is done again with another Voice actor, or if he drops the fake accent.

That would an excellent video; it was nice to see someone take so much time to involve themselves in bringing to life the Lore of Warcraft. I'd really like to see more storylines brought together in this manner - full marks I say.
Vyasa Aug 23rd 2007 10:32AM
Besides what everyone is saying about the accent, Stalvan's thoughts were well expressed and well spoken; aces to that.
Theoban Aug 25th 2007 2:28AM
Oh gods this is horrible. Are they under a time limit or something? Is it a contest to spout out lines as fast as possible? All I could hear is sssssssssssssss. ssssssssssssssss. sssssssssssssssssssss.
Yes over reacting, but my god, that was truly terrible ENUNCIATE children, ENUNCIATE.

First I must say thank you very much for writing about my movie. I was surprised when I saw it, because it was my first time at a taste of minimal fame, and to be honest, it felt great.
Secondly, I would like to say sorry to those of you who didn't enjoy because of the dwarf. In my opinion, I thought he did a rather good job, and it was just my fault for using a dwarf accent as a narrator. It was my bad call, so stop hating on the dwarf!
And lastly, for those of you who enjoyed this, expect to see much, much more from me. I haven't even started. Look for Eye for an Eye, The Messenger, Broken, and The Infallible Tikbalang Ward in the near future.
P.S. I'm really honored by whomever wrote this article about my movie. I very much appreciate it!
