The story of your first epic

The first time you experience an event in World of Warcraft is something you never forget. The first time you saw one of the enormous player cities. The first time you saw a player on a mount. The first time you got a random tell from a gold spammer.
Amadeais of the Nazjatar server remembers his first purple, the Underworld Band. He created a thread on the official forums and many have chimed in with their own first epics. From the hard-won PvP purples to the surprise gift from a generous guildmate.
What about you? What was the first purple drop you remember receiving? Was it a world drop, boss loot or did you save up your coppers and bought it off the Auction House? Do you still keep it in your bank? Tell us your story.

I sure wish I had one of those great stories about my first epic. But there it is, no one wanted to waste DKP on FR so it got defaulted to me. Pretty uneventful huh? =(

Helm of Narv....dropped off a trash mob in Silithus...Hunter gear that dropped while playing my pally. What luck....

My first purp was an Ardent Custodian on my first toon in STV. I was doing the bloodsail quests and I was out on the little islands by the boats south of Booty Bay. I think it was the eastern one, the one by itself.
I also got a Brightwood Staff on one of my toons out in Silithus at some point, I think that was on my 2nd 60.
I might have gotten purps from instances, but those are the 2 world drops that I remember getting.

My first epic that I've obtained were the lv. 70 PvP retri paladin bracers. (This was before the second season of arena began, so they're not as good as the veteran version that was released then.)
My first epic to DROP for me was the Lola's Eve, one half of an underwhelming jewelry set. It dropped from one of those warp stalkers in Skettis. I managed to get 600-something gold for it.

I saw the fiery war axe on AH for 100g. Only having 80g in bag from saving, I emailed the seller and asked him if he would sell to me. He did for 75g! Used it from lvl 35-44. The rockpounder has replaced it. It has major crit hits compared to the axe. However, I really don't think I'd buy another epx weap before 70. Not really worth it since it is replaced so quickly. Sure does make it interesting when ppl inspect you though. "Oooh, cool axe" etc.

Stonerender Gauntlets. Saw them on the AH and bought them for 2G. I just sat there thinking "an epic for 2 gold?!?" and being afraid they would get bought before I could get the cursor to the button. Put them on my NE Hunter around lvl 45 or so. Of course, they're kinda useless to her, but I just like seeing the purple letters when I go to the character screen. Haven't had the heart or money to replace them.

Haha, the Underworld Band was my first epic too! And the Krol Blade was my second. World drops ftw...at least two years ago they were lol.

Bought on the AH (157G) when I was 55 or so. Kinda felt silly when I hit 58 and got a terrific upgrade in Honor Hold. Lesson learned. But it's still in the bank :)

Also bought on the AH (180G), when I was 50 this time. So, a little smarter. Put the +40 spell damage on it because I knew I'd be keeping it for a while. Warlock is 55.5 now, so still in use.
First epic world drop:

Dropped when my paladin was 45(ish?) in STV off a Basalisk. Sold on the AH (50 or 60g), money meant more at the time.

my first, and only, epic drop came on my first run of ST
halfway through one of those curved hallways, a random mob dropped a Gut Ripper. i am a rogue, and there was 1 other rogue in the group. i think i won the Need roll by like 5 pts

A Precisely Calibrated Boomstick dropped for me in the late 40s off of a random harpy in Ferelas. I tried for weeks to sell it on the auction house at a fair price, but ended up letting it go for way under market value.
A couple levels later, I picked up a Dwarven Hand Cannon for a steal on the AH, banked it until 58 and have been using it ever since.

My first epic?
Amulet of the Darkmoon. Grinded my a$$ off making dense grinding stones. Countless circuits around my thorium farming points in EPL, buying stones off the AH whenever the price was favorable.
First epic that dropped for me? Hakkari Manslayer. Ran that as a guest of the guild I eventually joined. My second ZG run with them, and I'm suddenly in front of Hakkar himself. The Manslayer drops, and nobody else wanted it.
I loved that axe.

My 1st epic was the Eye of Flame I bought at AH - as a destruction lock, that thing was awesome, and it had FR! Plus it looks cool. I used it for a long time...
My first epic drop was my 1st time in MC, I got my Felheart Gloves. Man, was I psyched!

My first epic was also Underworld Band, got it of the AH for 100g. A steal.
My second epic was another Underworld Band, that I got for 5g and a Demon Slayer enchant. Even more of a steal. (and yes, I played from launch, so they where worth a lot more)

My first epic was the featured pic to this post, the Warden Staff. I was incredibly lucky that it dropped off of Rotgrip and everyone was generous enough to let me have it. As a Bear Druid you just couldn't get anything better pre BC.
