Battle of the Armory comparison sites

Want to find a quick way to see the stats of the players on your server in the same class? Two sites aim to provide you with just that: comparison of every attribute pulled from and linked to the Armory.
Wow Metrics is in beta and only covers Mages, Warlocks, Warriors, Rogues and Priests. You select the class, server and stat to compare and it gives you back the list. A very long list. You can click on anyone in the list to go to their Armory page and see how exactly they got those numbers. Gankbang does the same thing, but covers all classes and gives more information in the listing.
Being a Balance druid, I'm always looking for ways to improve my equipment selection. I love that I can easily find a list of other druids with high spell damage and spell crit. And I can go straight to their Armory profile to see how they accomplished that. And from the Armory listing I can check out their talent spec.
Are there any other sites you know of that make good use of the Armory? Let us know.

Lists guilds progress and ranks them compared to others by server, or faction.
Celidon Aug 25th 2007 6:44PM
Yeah, isn't it funny how when a site is only applicable to people playing on EU realms, they make sure to say so, and hope that a US one is put up. When it is for US realms only, they don't even say so.
=/

took them for a spin, and i must say, if you're a class that changes gear depending on the situation. this is pretty useless.

Spec something useful.

I would say..."succession" :)

Why don't they let me search paladins for spell damage?
Incendo Aug 26th 2007 2:44AM
Neat but clearly doesn't have close to everyone.

Great site to compare with the other players in your guild.

wow metrics is incredibly out of date (it lists my character as having 300 less spelldamage as i do!) It's armory links don't work correctly either.
Gankbang is pretty good though. I just wish there was a way so that it could give you 1) unbuffed numbers, and 2) take into consideration talent spec, like take out +dmg that you get from spec. eg:
mage 1 is 40/21/0 arcane/fire, and has 950 spelldamage. Mage 2 is 10/48/3 arc/fire/frost, and has 800 spelldamage. Mage 2 will do better DPS, because 150 of the spelldamage from mage 1 iss spec, and 40/21 does less dps than 10/48/3. (if that makes sense) Makes it eazier to compare. Thats why its really impressive if you see like a 10/48/3 mage in the top 10 of like all damage specs, because alot of arc mages get an unfair advantage.
man that was long, lol.

hey guys, im super happy to see gankbang.com linked here on wowinsider.com thanks!
a few things, current there is a HUGE array of buffs that ARE filtered. the filter is not currently based on talents but on consumables, world buffs, and player cast buffs. i am constantly adding more buffs to the filter as i find them thru the crawler.
as for EU realms and guilds. i am currently crawling for guilds and players. expect to see an update in the next few weeks. thanks again!

WoW Metrics IS worthless. I changed guilds two weeks ago and it still lists my old one. Well, ok, but I clicked the updated character thing and it said it would take 30 - 60 minutes to change. That was 24 hours ago. Out of date data makes it worthless data.

@10 Yes Antiarcs site is definately the best armory query website around, its absolutely fantastic and I use it on an almost daily basis.
As for these 2 other sites here they really are shocking, I cant believe the website creators actually bother to tell the general public about them, I also cant believe WoWInsider has actually featured them being as they are usually an incredibly high quality reporter of WoW related information.
I understand these 2 sites are still in "supposed" beta, but in my opinion they arent even of the quality yet where you would release them as an alpha.
For example WoWMetrics, which I already knew about still lists me as belonging to a guild I left 3 months ago and shows me having about 400 less spell damage than I actually do and even a different spec!
And as for Gankbang woh I really cant believe how bad this is, I do a search on hunters for my realm (my main is a hunter) and aparently I dont even exist, yet it lists a hunter down the bottom horde side (im horde) belonging to a no name guild with about 1000 less attack power than I have, it also lists no hunters from the top 2 horde guilds on my server.
Its sites like this spreading terrible disinformation that cause me to not be surprised when people pull out crazy uninformed comments.
To the website creators please pick up your form, and to WoWInsider please dont feature any more sites like this that are obviously lacking and totally un newsworthy.

Rua,
You must be from a small realm, i have worked VERY hard trying to get every guild and character thats level 70 as i possibly can get my hands on. Also, had you taken 2 seconds to actually look you would have noticed an "Add/Update" link at the top of EVERY page that allows you to add any number of players OR guilds to the update queue. if you are updating a list of players or just simply your self you will see that update right away when you go back to the stats page. its instant. you type in your name, select your realm and click submit and you are there. if you are adding or updating a list of guilds or even your own guild you will see that update with in the hour, and usually with in about 5 mins depending on how many other people are trying to add their guild(s) to the site. by my estimates i have about 75-80% of all level 70 players indexed in the US.
another thing, about wowmetrics, if you read his faq you would have noticed he says he only updates the top 1000 players of each class each day. others need to be updated by you or someone else manually and you should see the updates with in 30-60 mins.
yea, both of our sites are "supposed" beta, but i believe BOTH sites are great and i believe even more so that neither will ever be complete. since gankbang.com (owned and developed by me) was linked here from wowinsider.com i have received about 50 emails from people telling me how great it is, and listing TONS of great suggestions. many of which i have already implemented since they suggested it. many others are things i plan on adding in the future. such as display only stats from 1 guild, or only stats from one faction. the possibilities are endless and as such the site will ALWAYS be a work in progress. the reason i even announced the site in the first place is because i believe the site is at a stage in its life cycle where it is ready to be played with by anyone who wants to see how they stand.
the great thing about gankbang.com is that it is constantly crawling the armory looking for new guilds, new characters, updated stats, new buffs, and providing this information to whom ever wants to see how they compare to other people with like builds, gear, classes. another thing is, if you notice you, your guild, your friend, or your friends guild is out of date you can click the "add/update" link on the top of every page and update them. it only takes a moment of your time and you are done.
yea, Antiarc's site is great, i actually used it to see how to grab the armory data for the base of my site. after trying to compare myself amongst countless other guilds full of shadow priests i realized its slightly better to have a crawler constantly looking at the armory and pulling data. its faster, and more reliable because you dont have to worry about if you typed the name of the guild right, or if you listed too many guilds and its going to time out.
luckily, not everyone believes what you believe. so far you are the ONLY person who has talked negatively about wowmetrics.com and gankbang.com as a whole. as for everyone else, thanks a million for your great ideas, suggestions, and additions.
if you want to see a little idea of how many people have been added and using gankbang.com since the link here from wowinsider.com goto
http://www.gankbang.com/a/daily.php
over the past 2 days nearly 20000 players have been manually added to the site.
thanks again wowinsider and everyone else your support has been phenomenal!

Id like to issue a formal public apology to jayrox, my previous comments as I have discovered were unfounded.
I personally took only about 5 minutes to browse round your site and upon my initial inspection grouped you in with other similar sites that are well below par.
After reading your comments I played around with it alot more and have to say i was very very wrong, this site is actually fantastic.
I cant believe how wrong I was and I really want to say that I am sorry for the negativity without actually putting in the time to look over everything properly.
Very well done mate, and keep up the fantastic work.
BTW I have a few ideas for the site which I will try and email through in the near future (well thought out ones this time :P)
jayrox Aug 26th 2007 10:29PM
Rua,
Apology accepted :)
Great! I would love to hear your ideas, i am completely open to suggestions, changes, additions. anything really. i started this site with expansion in mind, i know the things that matter to me dont matter to others and vise versus.
thanks again guys and keep the suggestions coming. :)

I wish someone would make a site that would just gleam the important data (gear, stats, talents) and present it. The main site has such poor performance in the first place, plus I'm on dial-up at home, so it makes looking people up extremely frustrating.
