Are you a respec addict?
I have a short attention span when it comes to games. I want something new and exciting on a fairly regular basis. Anything that stinks of grinding or monotonous play sends me running the other direction (i.e daily quests, faction grinding, key grinding etc.). This is one of the reasons I rolled a Druid. A quick trip to the trainer for a respec and I have a whole new play style to explore. The problem is, I can't stop respeccing. A couple of weeks of playing one spec, I start fondly remembering how much fun my last one was and before I know it, I've teleported to the Moonglade Druid trainer and find myself digging into my Epic Flight fund for a chance to experience the game from a different play style perspective.
Now I'm on the PTR on premade L70s not only playing an entirely new class, but respeccing those classes as well!
What about you? Are you a respec addict? Why do you change your spec so often?

it's because of respec junkies like you that blizzard is giving us new hairstyles and dances in the expansion instead of actual, useful content.
People! Relax already! Pick a spec and stick with it.

As a respecaholic myself (I am seeking help) I can tell you it is a real problem affects thousands of players everyday. I have spent 195g respecing two characters in one day.
I think the worse incident that has affected me was when I hit 59 went from Balance to feral and sold some of my new Outland greens, then I went back in a hour and I could not buy back my staff or leather caster armor (Luckily I did sell my blue chestpiece so in the end I was just out my twin worlds staff and 75g).
I am an advocate of two spec trees, one for soloing and one for raids. It should be purchasable at lvl 70 for let's say 500g (On my priest, I went from holy to shadow and made 1900g in 3 days and could do dailies with relative easy). That way you can have your cake and eat it too
mmmm cake.

I'm definitely not a respec addict. Typically, I find something that I like and stick with it.
I am a class addict, however, if it makes you feel any better (I have to have one of each class). :)

@1, How is respeccing related to new hairstyles and dances? I don't know about you, but I'm tired of looking at my butt-ugly character and I definitely want him to lose the muttonchops and goatee that I stupidly gave him

I can't really say I am a respec addict, but I am definitely a perfectionist. I find myself on occasion doing a full respec to change one or two points. But I am also a rogue who rolled priest because the guild needed one. Came to love shadow as I was leveling but we need holy. Until recently (finally got my rogue to 70) I was specing to holy every Friday for raiding on the weekends and speccing back to shadow every Monday to farm mats, run quests for gold, or other such solo required gaming that simply could not be done as holy. I was spending 100g a week respecing pluss another 50 on raiding repairs and 60 - 100 more on reagents and consumables. But that is the woe of a raiding healer, Costs you 100g just to make the additional 150g a week you need to raid.

I love when we have the PTRs up just so I can try new specs instead of wasting gold. I find something that works for me and leave it. The only time I go respec is when I find that what was once working doesn't work for what I want to do now (i.e. arena).

Im the oposite.... I hate change :)
I just turned level 70 on Friday after 8 months of playing WoW... I re-specced my warrior to prot.. it cost me 15G, only the 3rd time Ive ever re-specced ever in the game (And the 2nd time really doesnt count cause all I did was change my weapon specialization from 2h sword to 2h polearms) hehe.

My main I've only respec'd 4 times. I found the spec that works for me and I've not changed it in months.
I am currently working on 3 alts (mage (lvl 25), hunter(43) and pally(32)) respec'd the hunter and pally once to readjust some stuff I messed up in the begining. The mage I've respec'd 4 times in the last week. I think I found the spec that works for me and I'll probably stay that way for awhile.

Yeah, I think I am showing signs...tree and the love of the group (for healing) or boomkin and slicing through quests with ease.
DarkStar Aug 27th 2007 4:41PM
I have the same problem thats why i have 3 different pally's
holy, prot and ret.

Definatly yes, 50g and it's not going down for a long time! Reason? I play a warrior and I love all that the class can do, so I respec fury when I want to do dps, prot when the guild needs me to tank (am the only nr geared warrfor hydross at the moment) and arms for when I do arena with my teams.
Preebs Aug 27th 2007 5:04PM
I've switched twice on my warrior. From Arms to fury. I didn't like it so I've switched back.
BigFire Aug 27th 2007 5:06PM
I spec protection for farming on weekend. Even at 100g per weekend, I still come out ahead by a very healthy margin.
Chadwick Aug 27th 2007 5:07PM
I find myself doing this with hybrid classes. I have alts of each of them and find myself respeccing depending on how I want to play that week. With the more pure classes there are differences but they are not as extreme.
Roiden Aug 27th 2007 5:10PM
@7 I'm the EXACT opposite. I'm holy during the weekend because otherwise I can't find healers for 5 mans/heroics, and then I go back to my beloved shadow during the week so our pallies don't go OOM 1/2 way through a raid boss.
Annwn Aug 27th 2007 5:36PM
Try playing a rogue
I respec weekly, for raids and farming/pvp
respec more during AV weekends to maximize afking (j/k)

Let the people respecc. It is a part of the game that many people enjoy. Asheron's Call 2 was able to allow it without ramifications. Why can't we get over the idea that folks should be charged to do it in WoW? Changing your talents every day should be nobody's business but the account owner.
BaboonNL Aug 27th 2007 5:47PM
I respec from holy to disc every week for arena.
