Thank God for all you dagger rogues. I'm the only sword rogue in my guild and I love that no one competes against me when swords drop.
Amidst all this stupid e-peen flexing and ignorance, here's some facts:
"You sword guys don't even need to stealth" is complete bullshit. Ever heard of garrote? You must be in stealth and behind the enemy to use it. Like a hunter that puts his pet away in instances, sword/fist/mace rogues that don't use it on every mob in a raid suck.
Raid-buffed, my garrote does 1474 dmg((1800 ap * .18) + 810) * 1.3) (I run with a feral druid pretty much all the time who always keeps mangle up for 30% more bleed damage) over 6 seconds. During which time I'm also able to get off two 1100+ sinister strikes, an 800+ MH white hit and a couple of 400+ 1.4 speed OH white hits. Maybe I'll get lucky and a couple of 800+ sword spec extra swings too. So, even if you daggerites get your beloved 4k ambush crit, I'm still right there with you on the meters.
It's not a mystery why. Blizzard designed our trees and damage mechanics to allow us to choose the weapon of our choice and still be close in DPS.
The "no postioning" argument is also idiotic. ALL melee dps classes should always strive to be behind the mob. That includes dps warriors and enh shammies, not just rogues. No cleaves, lessened AOE, and no blocks or parries from behind. Any melee dps class that adds to the healer's burden by postioning where cleaves hit them also suck.
