World of Warcraft toys
Mystikravyn reports that she recently got the quest for Dartol's Rod of Transformation which most of us know is the fabled quest item that so many of us keep in our banks that allow a player to turn into a furbolg. She also mentions the Piccolo of Flaming Fire from Stratholme that makes other players dance against their will (which some of us find annoying to no end, but I digress).Although these may be the two most famous examples of "nifty wastes of bank space" (as she calls them) there are lots of others. Many of them are associated with the seasonal events that take place in the game, such as the upcoming Hallow's End event, and the Feast of Winter Veil. I know lots of people who have bank characters devoted to stockpiling snowballs, Preserved Holly, and other such goodies that are only available for a limited time each year. (As a side note, if anybody from Blizzard is listening, I know a lot of very good boys and girls in my guild who will be very very happy if Santa brings them holly this year that works with their flying mounts as well as the normal ones.)
Mystikravyn concludes her post wondering if there is a web page or a site devoted to these "fun" World of Warcraft items. I don't know of one, other than searching the database sites by hand. I know if anybody knows of the existence of such a place, it would have to be our WoW Insider readers, and I'm sure you will share this information in your comments. Also, what fun goodies do you have clogging up bank space?

I found an ORB of deception long ao as a random world drop which turns my undead mage into a night elf. It's extremely entertaining to use when raiding low-level alliance villages when you can confuse the newbies who can't figure out why I'm tagged, lol. It only lasts for 5 minutes, but the cooldown isn't too bad. It's provided great entertainment (and tips too-for dancing on the mailbox in Org!).

The holly this year should transform your flying mount into a sleigh pulled by reindeer. :P
I've got a lot of crap clogging the bank spaces of alts. I've got all of your usual stuff: snowballs, holly, mistletoe, flower petals from Valentine's day, on some alts I still have the buff candies, fire flowers, etc. I'm also quite proud that on some really old alts, I still have Halloween wands. Freaks the F out of guildmates when they're suddenly a bat. :D

. Dartol's Rod of Transformation ... check
. Multiple stacks of Holly (from 2005 and 2006) on bank alts who'll never go into an instance anyway - check
. Lots of greens and blues in the lv 45-65 range ... which have been stored on bank alts for their future use by these bank twinks, who are currently 9, 11 and 35 and have about zero chance of ever wearing the stuff ...
. stacks of almost any cooking material available plus lots of recipes "in case one of my bank twinks wants to level cooking" ...
. tons of stuff for various tradeskills
. some of those purple scales from Silithus which I could never figure out a use for ... oh yes, one opens AQ with these. So, erm, why do I keep them?
. One piece of core hound leather, one core fragment ("Keep it, no one wants that stuff anymore") and similar stuff which dropped on some nostalgic run with lv70s, but which I never got recipes for :)
There seems to be 2 kinds of players: One type that has a main, and maybe a bank/ah alt ... sells most of the stuff.
... and another type like me, who'll keep playing his/her bank alts and collecting everything.
From a money standpoint, the first method is much better: It is very profitable to sell stuff while it is still interesting to advanced players ... if I had sold all those ZG coins and stuff while people were still grinding ZG, I might have made good money. As is, I stored everything ... cost me lots of bank space and the stuff is mostly worthless now.

Oh PLEASE bring back the snowballs that knock you back. I spent HOURS in AV having fun with that. I don't know how many times someone knocked me off that bridge but I laughed every time.
I think there were some great videos made of it as well. Dang it... Now I have to go find them and watch them again.

Aw, some posts got deleted. I thought they were interesting.

Wow. Someone representing the original website gets their post deleted for pointing out that you often use their website?
That's kinda bullshit, innit?

Bouquet of Red Roses
http://www.thottbot.com/i22206
Life long rose petals (V-Day) on a 5min cooldown.
Best one, cause most people dont get it... cause it aint listed on the official material for Valentines.
Shadowisp Aug 27th 2007 11:59AM
... P.S. Always great to use the bouquet on girl friends, also good for placing on funny things like bosses (bigger the better) and warlock/hunter pets :P

I carry Vargoth with me everywhere!
You never know when you'll need him.
Avonturier Aug 27th 2007 12:54PM
Several stacks of firecrackers! I can't even remember what event they're from though. Lunar festival maybe?
Atombob Aug 27th 2007 1:37PM
Two words. Steam. Tonks. For the low, low price of forty tickets at the Dark Moon Fair, any engineer can get the schematic to make a portable steam tonk controller - it can be used to play remote control mayhem anywhere outside of a major city.

4. Orb of Deception
5. Piccolo
6. Dartol's Rod
7. All 4 Festival pantsuits
8. Lovefool

Yea... my bank is full!
Maureen Aug 27th 2007 3:07PM
Fireworks. My bank toon's bank is full of fireworks from July 4th. I bought stacks of every color and all the sparklers. Pets also take up way too much room in my bank and I only really like three or four of them.
Maureen Aug 27th 2007 3:08PM
Oh I forgot, my bank toon has several outfits too.

Do I REALLY need to remind you about the dragon orb? I love being able to turn into a black whelp.
Now if only there were a way to shed some scales I'd never worry about grinding for black dragonscales ever again.
alanm26 Aug 27th 2007 4:53PM
I had a lot of fun using the whelp orb along with fiery festival brew in the middle of stormwind trade district. I've also used the snowman disguise when browsing the auction house for long periods of time. The funniest thing I've ever seen was a Furbolg using the energy shield bubble item from that quest from Toshley's station.
Chadwick Aug 27th 2007 4:58PM
Also lets not forget all those random things from the TCG. Sure somewhat hard to get, but adds some more fun toys to the game.
Although you could buy them if you really wanted.

godai Aug 27th 2007 9:22PM
We wipe on a boss, as we get ready.
I usually pull out vargoth my "Pocket Mage" and you know what. 5 seconds later there's 2-3 of him standing there. heh
A side note is that dartol's wand provides immunity to the piccollo. How? Simple, Furlbogs CAN'T dance.
My favorite though is using the Dartol's wand, then using my world enlarger. I do this when i see someone else using thier wand. and I proceed with the "Mama? Is that you Mama?"--type lines. One of these day's i'll see someone killing furlbogs, and use the disguise and go invis, then use enlarger to break out, so it looks like I load in to the person and start mourning. heh.
