Around Azeroth: This is not the Quel'thalas you're looking for
Reader Jahldhor from Demon Soul sends in this shot of a place you may not of known existed in Azeroth -- Quel'thalas. Lore tells us that Quel'thalas is a forested region north of Lordaeron, and in World of Warcraft, the area considered Quel'thalas is more commonly known by the zone names of Ghostlands and Eversong Woods. But the screenshot above obviously isn't from either Ghostlands or Eversong -- it's Quel'thalas. And you can check out this odd bit of Azeroth, too, if instead of going through the portal in Eastern Plaguelands into Ghostlands you take the long way and swim, which will take you into a completely different Quel'thalas, with some vaguely elven ruins and a small dock.
Do you have a unique shot of Azeroth or Outland that you'd like to show off to the rest of the world? Tell us about it by e-mailing aroundazeroth@gmail.com! Or perhaps you'd just like to see more of your pics from Around Azeroth.

I went there pre-TBC, right when 2.0 hit. We thought we'd be able to swim into the TBC areas, not knowing they were instanced :(
I can't remember exactly where we started swimming but for about 20 minutes all it is is repeating terrain over and over again, then eventually you hit this. It shows you on the map as halfway through ghostlands.

I swam up there a long time ago. Nothing but a steep cliff and water everywhere. Even when you looked on the map and you were in the dead center of Quel'Thalas.

You can actually walljump at the far east of the island and go onto the land of this place.. Its flat nothingness. You can also go in back of stratholme.

I tried to swim to Quel'Thalas a LONG time ago, and all I remember is that it would keep kicking me off as I got near.

This is why we can't have flying mounts in azeroth

When I had an dwarf hunter I tried swimming to Eversong not realizing that it was instanced either. I swam for about an hour from Wetlands heading north and when I died (because I hit the NumLock key so I could get ready for work) I found myself in Westfall! LOL WTF

Yes, Westfall seems to be the place they dump you out at when trying to test the boundaries of the world. I died trying to get to the penninsula west of Hillsbrad (Greymane i think). Ended up in Westfall.

Alliance spirits that cant find the nearest graveyard go to Westfall and horde go to Barrens. One time i died in a bug cave in silithus (hive zora or something i forget) and my spirit was in westfall.

With my first character, I went the other way. You know... "Oooh, Westfall! OCEAN! Gosh, I wonder how far I can swim..."
Made it to Menethil when the Murlocs got me. Another time was from Dark Shore to Azshara. Again, Murloc'd and after ressing, elite giants. That's when I hearthed.

Wasn't there a bug at some point where if you died in a BG in certain places you would rez in Westfall? I vaguely remember something like that.

I once reset Stratholme while farming it, headed in the service entrance and I got the "been in there too many times" error. But it still let me in. The next gate was a blank brownish colour. Stupidly, I ran through it and after falling through the ground long enough, I ended up in the zone of Quel'thalas.. Couldn't see a thing though :p

I was able to go to here by traveling along the water edge north east of Undercity, it took me forever.
I went right around (it took about an hour and a bit (I think)) and ended up in The Hinterlands.
Here is a picture of the world map so you can get an idea of how far I swam (thank god I'm a Druid, eh?).
