Engineers continue to dream
Rikora over on the official forums posted about some hopes she has for what engineers will be able to do in the next expansion, such as building siege weapons and other such machinery. You've probably already heard that engineers will be able to craft flying mounts, but other than that we haven't heard so much.
Other posters got pretty creative too, though. There were suggestions of more goggles, more pets, more fun trinkets of course, but one suggested that we make remote controlled planes that can shoot each other down. Another person suggested that there be little remote controlled machines that could sneak past enemies and scout about or throw an optional switch in an instance.
The obvious thing that somehow didn't happen with the Burning Crusade, is just to provide upgraded versions of existing trinkets that actually help as much as the old trinkets did, a Gnomish Battle Piglet, perhaps, or a Goblin Gnome Launcher. One poster to the forum thread said Engineering should be a bit on the overpowered side, and I agree wholeheartedly, especially since many of its items can't be used in Arenas.
To my mind, it should almost be like a secondary class unto itself, with lots of different abilities, from crowd control to healing -- nothing as powerful as a native class ability of course, but something to make engineers feel really glad for choosing their profession and putting lots of work into it.
One of these days, Blizzard has got to listen.

Coincidentally, I finally hit 375 in Engineering last night. I celebrated by finally building that... umm... the... well... sigh.

I always choose engineering on a new Alt to powerlevel, first you have bombs, they can take mobs down fast and are cheap to make and get you out of many scrapes. And then there is the transporter to Gadgetzen which speeds up the whole leveling 45 to 60 content as traveling there gets a whole lot faster. Then at 60 I dumb it because it is useless!

Actually.. the combat pets (battle chickens and dragonlings) scale with your Engineering skill. The pet's level is your engineering skill/5. With skill 300 that's level 60. With 375 it's level 75, and gnomes with Engineering (not Gnomish Engineers, mind you) can get level 78 pets.

@1 Don't know what your class is, but the epic healing hat for engineers is simply amazing.
I would like to see those potion stacking trinkets (20 potions in one slot!) be usable by other people. If an engineer could sell those, he/she would make a ton of money. I'd buy two for my priest alone. Must....have....more....bag....slots. Healing armor, DPS armor, FR gear, heroic trinkets, raiding trinkets, potions, quest items. "Your inventory is full"

Count me in as an Engineer who continues to dream of what should be (is?) the most fun to be had with any profession in the game. I hadn't thought of it in those terms before - but it really is almost like a secondary class...one that's a bit broken and needs some serious love, that is.

Blizzard listens to no one and they never give you what you want. Stop dreaming.

Engineering would be way too good if non-gineers could use our items, and it can still make a ton of money just selling your ore, I really have no complaints, any profession that gives you an epic helm of near t5 quality and the 45 stam trinkets are amazing, is worthwile in my book, it is just amazingly useful in nearly every pve circumstance, and crazy fun to mess with in world pvp.

I am an engineer and enchanter. Until the next patch I don't get anything for either of those professions from any of the rep vendors. I would like to see them add something. In the next patch the only enchant you can buy from a vendor that is NEW is 20 agi to weapon from violet eye. The other non gathering professions can each make something from somewhere for their class. I really get nothing for either of these 2 professions. I know they are adding even more enchants in the next patch but these enchants have been in the game since AQ came out. They are just changing the mats and making them available from the different rep. They aren't anywhere close to new they are awesome but not new.
I spent a lot of time getting all this rep for every single 1 of the factions in TBC. Out of them all the only reps I'm not exalted with are Mag'har, Scale of the Sands, and Ashtongue. I know that gathering professions obviously won't get anything from rep vendors but they can make enough money as it is. I on the other hand have 2 professions that in no way compliment the other and I have to go out and find all my Schematics/Formulas that aren't offered at the trainers. This is 1 thing that I would hope will be changed in the future.

Right. Which is why nearly every class (ESPECIALLY Paladins) got an exact copy of what they were asking for with Burning Crusade.

Hunters got shafted in BC. So, not every class got what they wanted.
As for engineering, right now about the one big useful item is Field Repair Bot 74A.

I am an engineer, currently 57, with a skill of 320 (yes, that was hard to walk/run/mount to Area 52, before i learned there was a trainer in Zangarmarsh), and i hope that the engineer flight mounts have a little bonus over "normal" flying mounts, such as a little bit more speed, or something similar.

I think that w/ the new mounts coming out, they should add a pet bar to it where you can drop out various bomb's you've made from Engineering. Like have one for the Adamantite grenades, frost grenades and some other useful thing. Make it more then a novelty item. Make it something people will REALLY envy once they see it in action.
(Obviously in the new x-pac they will have bigger, better bombs, those are just placeholders if you will)

Yeah right, lol. Got your Blizzard check this month? Everybody got raped in the ass by TBC, everybody knows that. Shill.
Okssen Sep 3rd 2007 9:20PM
Our new flying mounts? I want jet packs.

Engineering is a huge money hole. Takes tons to make the stuff and 95% cant be sold on auction house except to other engineers, which arent many. For the expansion thats what I would like to have... MORE MONEY. My alchemist friend already has his flying mount bought at 68 and me... Well I just gotta hope that I can make one soon... sux!
