Breakfast Topic: Downtime games
Last night, a warrior guildmate trying to score her Dungeon chest armor piece had her entire group drop before the final mob fight in Arcatraz. Four of us responded to her call for replacements and together we took down the giant cockroach from the planet Xenon, but we lost the priest in the final moments. The key to Arcatraz doesn't work from the inside and the priest didn't have the key. While the keyed rogue hearthed out and headed back to the zone entrance, the rest of us had to kill the time before we looted.First, we used the joke emote and commented on the lame repetitive jokes the human females have. Then we brought out the illusions (furbolg, druid bear form dancing, shrinking). Then came the pets (sleepy willy, sprite darter; etc.) Finally, the conversation turned to mat gathering for epic recipes.
This would have been a perfect time for a mini-game. Eventually, the rest of our group arrived and, to the warrior's delight, her chestplate dropped. A happy dance later and we were off to return to whatever we were doing before.
But this led me to wonder: what do you do during enforced downtime?

Once whilst raiding Molten Core, we had a lengthy period of downtime as somebody went to pick up some quintessence to douse the final rune before we could fight Majordomo Executus. As everyone was on teamspeak at the time, I employed a gag I used to regularly annoy my old FPS clanmates with; switch sound input source to wave out and played the Dogtanian theme tune. If you grew up in the 1980s then you'll probably remember it (or at least recognise the music); certainly a number of people in the raid did, and it brought back old memories.

I play in window mode and also have a laptop next to me that I use for my job. I will either open up Firefox and troll forums, or I will do some tedious busy work that the dull life of an accountant is full of.

Yesterday in Blood Furnace, I had one of our DPS ask me how the kids were doing. I replied they were fine, and he told me his were eatn by a Fel Reaver.
Later on he asked if work was good too, and I told him I just got a raise. "I'm nw making legal minimum wage!"

You can always throw around the leather ball or whatever it is. I had an RFD run with some downtime once and somebody busted out the leather ball and we played football ;)

The Murloc Game has become something I think we might continue in 25-mans while we're waiting for summons.
Rules: No repeats. Basically, take movie titles and implement Murlocs in them in some way.
Example:
Beauty and the Murloc
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Murlocs

List random facts about pigs.
Pigs are incapable of looking up.
They have corkscrew shaped penises and half-hour long orgasms.
Pigs are the smartest of the barnyard animals. They're more trainable than dogs or cats.
They are associated with St. Anthony.
They can find things underground with their great sense of smell, hence trufflepigs, or truffle.
Pigs are actually clean animals if they are allowed to get wet in water, the only reason they root in mud is that they lack sweat glands.

Playing in windowed mode is the only way to go. Allows you to have internet windows open (usually checking WoWWiki for the boss I'm on, Thottbot for where I need to farm what mats, or reading up on here). There's also the fun games that come standard with my Windows XP operating system.
But on the topic of in-game mini-games, EverQuest had implimented a Tetris-esque mini-game at one point. I remember trying to farm some of the Fable'd items in Lower Guk when I first learned about it. Being a rogue, I just stealthed and started playing while waiting for respawns.
Oh ya, and porn. Can't forget porn.

A PUG run to Shadow Lab today was chock full of downtime. We shuffled through 4 characters before we finally downed Murmur (Not counting one girl breaking out her well-geared warlock after the third wipe on Murmur. We just weren't doing enough damage to take him down.) There were only 2 of us in the group who were there through the whole run. I was one of the two.
So, I had copious amounts of downtime during various dead runs and summon runs. At one point, I started to wax philosophic about a single mob of Broken near the front door who we hadn't killed and still seemed to be working. Just standing there, tinkering with their barrel holding things. Not even noticing the invaders who slaughtered their friends and had been running back and forth by them for a couple hours.
I also did a similar "This makes no sense." rant about how the middle two bosses will continue to act like they're preaching to their followers when clearly we have killed all their followers. In front of him. While he was watching.
And of course, we also used the ubiquitous fun with furbolg changers and Nogginfoggers. Personal favorite, shrunken furbolg pet mode. A couple of them had Deviate Fish too, so we had a couple pirates and ninjas every so ofteh.
