Playing with my brothers. My wife and I started WoW when we moved to another state so we would have a fun way to stay in contact with my brothers, who are also both in different states. We all graduated from college and moved on. This has been a great and fun way to do things together.

The people in my guild and my raid. I don't think I would still be playing without them.

the feeling that I *still* haven't seen everything the game has to offer...
and that when I have, I can see it all over again through the eyes of a different class.

I'm tempted to say... Aspect of the Cheetah?

my favorite thing to do is be the healer in a 5 man instance
i don't know what it is about being someone who is counted on...
if i don't do my job right people die! i like that pressure. i've found that healing in the midst of chaos is more fun than most other stuff i've done in the game

A friend and I were speaking with a current WoW guildmate about our time in EQ. When we were speaking about some of the nonsense that went on, its very easy to see what the best draw for us might be.
EQ was just about impossible to solo past level 10-15 or so. You were either grouped, or you did nothing.
Newbie zones had agressive mobs about 30-40 levels higher than the players in those zones. Nothing like celebrating your ding to 11 with a squishing death that knocks you back to 10!
Oh, yeah, EQ had a death penalty that got worse and worse as you got higher in levels.
EQ allowed you to spend days, weeks, months collecting materials for tradeskills... only to fail at the final moment leaving you to start completely over.
EQ had 72 man raids, with a first-come-first served raid targets. When the bosses were up, the first to get their 72 man raid ready and engaged were the ones who got the goods. If you were second, you had to wait 3-5 days and try again.
Anyone who did the VT attunement quests in EQ would be tickled when someone complains about the Karazhan attunements. People spent weeks camping the same mobs for 10-12 hours at a stretch. Do that for 72 people, plus backups, and tell me how great WoW attunements are.
One of the earlier EQ expansions had three factions who were opposing each other, giants, dwarves and dragons. By killing one, you became friendly with another... only to find out you needed to be friendly with the one you just became hated with for your next progression! Could you imagine becoming exalted with Scryer only to find out you needed to swap to Aldor to do the next raid instance?

Aspect of the Cheetah FTW! I'd go nuts without it.
Battlegrounds - you get your good days, you get your bad days. When it's bad, it's really bad (1 hr+ WSG, anyone?). But then there's days like yesterday, when I was in 3 winning groups in WSG within the space of an hour and a half, that make me happy.
Oh, and another thing that keeps me playing? Machinima. I might make some one of these days.

The people.

Roleplaying, plain and simple. It can be done by yourself, with a couple of other players, or with an entire group. It can be done in the city, in the country, on every quest, inside any and every instance. Roleplaying requires nothing else to be added to the game (though addons do help!). You come pre-equipped with everything you need: imagination. Roleplaying is the only way to truly and fully experience any fantasy setting such as WoW. If you are not roleplaying, then you just aren't playing the game, the game is playing you.

Recently started the arena 5v5 and that's kind of nice.
But other than that I like the PvE (minus raiding, too much drama)

I love questing. Exploring new areas. As enkafiles stated above, "7. the feeling that I *still* haven't seen everything the game has to offer...
and that when I have, I can see it all over again through the eyes of a different class." That is one reason I became so interested in the game. It only really ends when you want it to.

For me, being female.. it's totally the social aspect of the game.. I love meeting new people, making friends on my guild etc..

Raiding

Zones.
For some reason, I've always loved exploring a new zone most of all. It's what keeps me coming back.
Taeo Sep 4th 2007 11:38AM
I could never pick just one thing that keeps me coming back. It always changes!
For my nearly my entire pre BC career it was hardcore raiding that kept me going. I enjoyed the competition of going for the first kills and showing off the gear.
Whenever I needed a break from the raiding schedule I developed a temporary case of altitis. Seeing the game from a different angle isn't only fun but it makes you a better player as well.
Nowadays it's arena. Nothing beats the satisfaction of tearing up the ladder with good friends. I arena regularly with 2 characters (Warrior and Mage) and several teams each. I shall have you one day armored netherdrake!!!
It's nice to see how many different perspectives there are on the game.

What's this bit about dueling outside of IF? Don't you know about the pillar next to the bank?
It's the one by the mailbox. Just jump up there and initiate the duel.
