Forum Post of the Day: If WoW ended in 24 hours...

As for me, if WoW were shutting down in 24 hours, I think I'd probably squeeze every last moment out of it. That would probably involve corpse-hopping as far as possible in Black Temple -- if only to say that I'd seen the inside of the place. (who cares about repair bills when the whole game is going to go away the next day?) From there, I'd jump on my guild's forums, put the plans into work for a full guild raid on [insert large theme park here] where we could all meet up for one hell of a weekend bash before we scatter to the MMO winds. (As I have an open EVE account currently, I pretty much know where my focus would shift to...)
What would you do? Are there any MMOs on the horizon that you think your guild might jump to, or that you're really looking forward to? Would you return to the MMO/MUD you may have been playing before WoW came along? Or would you agree with some in the thread -- that WoW is the first and last of the genre you'd play?
[Many thanks to our own Dan O'Halloran!]

I'd play Implode's Master of Magic or Defcon (everybody-dies.com)... Eve would just get me addicted.

Yeah, that would be a good opportunity to focus more on the wifey.

I'd probably just play my other neglected video games or..*gasp*...read?

I have a stagnate EVE account, I keep seeing ads for how they've improved the game and I'm sorely tempted now to play WoW and EVE together again. But if WoW went bye bye I'd probably go back to outer space.

I'd probably go find one of those 'private' servers and start over there.
Sietepestes Sep 7th 2007 7:47PM
Yea I second that... I would probably either find one of those private servers or build my own... Barrens chat would suck... it would feel empty... lol

If it ended in 24 hours I get I would have to settle for women all day and night. /sigh they are so much work. 1st is all stupid low level questing you need to do. A lot of "will you listen to my story" type quests. Luckily for my my cooking is at 375 so I can make a dinner to impress her but sometimes she likes to go to clubs. Problem being she is a level 18 and I'm a level 32 in a very aggro environment I'd have to tank anywhere to 5-6 mobs at once while keeping her safe. Nothing worse than men who have the disposition of murlocs when they see something to attack.
Screw all that noise.. I'm going into the priesthood.

If WoW were going to shut down tomorrow, I'd just waste time with some other game. No biggie.
I quit for 3 months and I found plenty to do on a regular basis. The major benefit to WoW though, is I spend $15/mo on gaming, and that's it. In the 3 months I didn't play WoW, I bought 6 games, at a total of around $200. WoW saves me money!
I suppose I'd go pick up the new Tiger Woods, the new Madden, BioShock, and maybe a new RTS game of some sort and wait around until Starcraft 2 comes out. None of the MMO's out right now have done it for me, none of them on the horizon really appeal to me yet... but who knows.
I'd sure waste a lot more money, that's for sure.

If WoW were going to end in 24 hours, I'd probably log on and see how much server crazy I could get going, maybe incite the GM's to spawn raid bosses in the major cities to run rampant (as they've done before) There's a sense of fun when something is beginning or ending, it perks people up and creates a carnival atmosphere sometimes.
After the shutdown, I'd probably just bide my time until Tabula Rasa came out. I intend to play it for 3-4 months anyway, just to take its measure.
I'm not too enthused about Warhammer, and EVE left me with a really bad taste in my mouth (boring).
Wildhammer Sep 7th 2007 8:15PM
I'd cancel my subscription and rally WoW players to the path of MMO enlightenment (Warhammer Online).
Praise be Paul Barnett and The Hickman.

pfft i'll keep drooling endless over darkfall.

I don't think corpse-hopping (i.e death runs) is viable in instances. You would rez at the portal, not your corpse.
I think I would flag pvp and attempt to get the biggest server pvp zerg ever up and running in Shatner. The point: not to pvp, but to see how lagged we can make Shatner.
Corak Sep 7th 2007 8:50PM
You could hop at least once with a Soulstone. Or Reincarnation.

Id probably get addicted back to EVE online myself as well.

Get everyone I could involved in my class action lawsuit. I pay my money and they shut down the game? This obviously requires a lawsuit.

Wow... this was posted on the US forums a long, LONG time ago. Before BC was announced, before the new forums, before AQ... just waaaay back...
Anywho, if it were to end I wouldn't get involved in other MMORPGs. Nothing could compare to WoW, so I'd just go back to being a console gamer :P

"18. Wow... this was posted on the US forums a long, LONG time ago. Before BC was announced, before the new forums, before AQ... just waaaay back..."
Good to bring it up every now and then, see how responses change.
I'd hope that one of my friends finds something else to do online and just follow them to that game, it's more about the people for me atm.

I'd wait sadly for Spore to come out and make a lot more visits to my local public library, I guess. And perhaps go back to trying to learn DotA. The only way I'd play another MMO would be if my friends went too.
