Whoops, I'm level 20
If you've ever been ganked by a twink in 10-19 WSG, you might chuckle at poor Neflm's predicament. He accidentally leveled his Witching Stave-wielding Warlock twink to 20. Apparently all it takes to kick a twink out of the battlegrounds... is 200 experience.Of course, this is exactly what that XP toggle is for, if Blizzard ever chooses to implement it. Or if you want to go the other direction, you could just award experience in the BGs, which would definitely put a stop to twinking forever (and make Neflm's problem much more common).
But he can't be too distraught-- even if he's accidentally leveled his 19 twink to 20, there's always the chance to be a terror at 20-29. As even he says, in the comments, "at least Stonetalon should be a cakewalk."

er, how do you accidentally get that close to leveling without realizing it?
Anyone who's spent 1k on a twink should be very aware that they can't go visit the Warsong supply guys with their twink if they didn't stop leveling right when they hit 19. (in theory, the smart twink starts accumulating dungeon gear at 14, and has it all accumulated before hitting 19 so there's no danger of accidentally dinging before hitting 19, and BEFORE you eqiup the twink gear GET ALL YOUR BOP STUFF. That way, if you screw it all up horribly, you've only wasted a week and a few dungeon runs (hopefully) on gearing up. If you've got the rid kinda friends who can clear any of the low instances in under 30 mins, this shouldn't be too hard to repeat, especially if you're going to twink 2-3 other characters at the same time to minimize the amount of runs and maximize the quality of the drops.

Somehow I don't feel sorry.

Poor twinks. I don't mind the idea of twinks, I just don't want to PvP against them.

I got pushed from 60 to 61 from running AV too many times. I didn't realize it until I hopped in the next game and was surrounded by 70s with epic gear and oodles of shiny enchants.

@4 ditto, in fact i leveled in AV. It was very sad. But i was the only 61 for a while. :) Now i don't dare touch BG, dunno if i'll ever get back to it on that char.

I hate twinks, XP from bgs is the greatest thing ive ever heard of, I could finally pvp all day my way to level seventay (o im a sick rhymer)
Hakawne Sep 10th 2007 8:46PM
Part of the thing with having a twink is that restriction. You're getting to close to leveling out? Make a decision.
Varatil Sep 10th 2007 9:08PM
Wait? Being a twink makes Stonetalon a cakewalk? So what was it before? (Unless he's talking about the kill 28 harpies quest, which isn't hard, just a timesink)

I think it would be cool if Blizzard awarded experience in BG's, then the battlegrounds would be much more about individual players and much less about buying insanely powerful enchants for your level 39 epic weapon.
Of course, attendance at lower level BG's would drop to almost nothing. The SOLUTION would be for Blizzard to develop variable-server battlegroups, so that when you join a 10-19 battleground, you could be matched up against literally every other 10-19 queued player in the world.
This would ensure that there would always be PLENTY of pvp action at every level. Meanwhile, PVP activity at endgame would soar to frantic levels, which would pump tons of interest into any endgame PVP that Blizzard desires to implement.

Twinking at 19/29/39/49 is really just a fun way to escape the boredom of our mains.
I have had many a twinks and just recently made a level 10 rogue twink, All decked out in the best gear possible for her.

I don't like twinks when I'm PvP'ing on a normal character just go get gear, but it's something you have to put up with. Sometimes you get more on your side and win, sometimes they have more and you lose. Either way, take your honor and marks, and go home, kk?
I love the idea of BG xp AND toggling xp. So that way, sitting at 29 on my shaman just killing for gear, I could still get xp (and shut it off just before I'd hit 30).
FireStar Sep 10th 2007 10:45PM
No xp toggle! bad bad bad.
tool03 Sep 11th 2007 12:59AM
@12
lol yeah I can see it now "ah sob I spent that whole time with xp off!"
baudkarma Sep 11th 2007 1:35AM
@11 Yeah, maybe my side has more or less twinks, but either way I'd like to feel like I'm part of the action. If it's just the number and quality of twinks on either side that determines the matchup, why should the ordinary player get involved?
dience Sep 11th 2007 5:11AM
In the old honor system you would always gain experience for handing in battleground marks, you could hold on to them and let them stack but once you had 20 of them you couldn't receive anymore and you were forced to hand them in and thus recieve the experience... kind of makes it difficult for a twink to stay at level #9
Jund Sep 11th 2007 5:50AM
Ummm . . . how can one get "ganked" in a battlefield instance? /chuckle
MartinC Sep 11th 2007 6:03AM
Yeah, it's not possible to get "ganked" in the battlegrounds. You are there to PVP.
To the character in the article who leveled to 20, that's his own damn fault. As has already been stated, proper twinks will always get their BOP gear well before they can equip it, and only level to 19 after they have everything they want. Any twink who is at 19.99, and "accidentally" levels to 20, deserves no sympathy.
BSChim Sep 11th 2007 7:29AM
He was farming soul shards and leveled. Not much of a story...
Mordrod Sep 11th 2007 7:43AM
If there's an XP toggle, please don't implement it ala Microsoft Vista: "You've just been offered XP. [Accept] or [Cancel]."
If they go the other route and try to make it harder to stay a twink, battleground XP should only be offered on the Nines: 19, 29, 39, 49, 59.
dotorion Sep 11th 2007 8:14AM
Sort of demonstrates the average intelligence of a twink , too.
