Blizzard's "Next-Gen MMO" project continues
Back in April we noticed that Blizzard had some interesting job openings on their web site. Specifically, they were looking for Lead Engine Programmer, a Lead Tools Programmer, and a Lead Technical Artist, all for what was only identified as a "Next-Gen MMO." And while we have no official news from Blizzard, we can follow this mystery game's development by keeping an eye on the job opportunities available at Blizzard. Recently, they've started looking for a Senior Graphics Programmer, a Senior Tools Programmer, a Lead 3D Character Artist, and a Lead 3D Environment Artist for their "Next-Gen MMO." (Hydra?) Whatever the project is, its development must be progressing as the team grows.

Slow WoW news day?

Really makes sense. Instead of sitting around and waiting for some other company to come out with a newer, better MMO that will steal market-share from WoW, Blizzard is just going ahead and inventing that "newer, better MMO" themselves and keep the money going their direction (while picking up a some more).
Lot of things are said about Blizzard those days - but one thing they are is a smart outfit that looks ahead.

It looks like Blizz is following the same pattern they did with WC3/WoW developing them simultaneously, having the lore from the RTS affect the world in the MMO. So SC2 in a year or so, and WoSC a few years later.

Whatever it turns out to be, I sincerely hope it either lacks pvp or has a much better pvp system than WoW's.

My money is on WOW 2. I definitely think it won't be World of Starcraft as they are currently working on Starcraft 2. It won't be World of Diablo as that is too close to WOW for them to be able to make enough unique content, especially seeing most of the classes used in this game are in WOW. There is a possibility that they may be designing something totally new but if it's going to be off older project's success, it's most likely going to be WOW 2.

/hoping for WoSC, or Universe of StarCraft, as it may be. Prefer SciFi to Fantasy, would ditch WoW in a heartbeat for WoSC.
