Bigger backpacks (and more) coming soon
Gaslaw asks on the forums whether backpacks will be bigger in Wrath of the Lich King, and (kind of surprisingly) Drysc says it's not beyond the realm of possibility.I guess it's not that surprising-- it does seem like we are carrying more stuff around lately, in terms of quest and rep items, if not just plain old extra gear sets. We've already had lots of ideas on how to fix things, from creating more keychain setups, to just plain coming up with more bag space. But fortunately, Drysc doesn't seem to have just bigger bags in mind-- he seems to have "better stuff in the works."
What that could be, we have no idea. Pack mules? Dimensional suitcases (made, naturally, of sapient pearwood)? Finally, player housing? Drysc says we'll find out soon.

I personally think that an NPC who can hold built "sets" would be a good idea, especially since there's now a big focus on hybrid classes.
If Blizzard ever introduces player housing into the game, I wager a "closet" of sorts should be added which can hold 1-3 equipment sets.

Well I know for certain that one thing they'll be doing is setting up the character pane like it is in Vanguard, with separate tabs for separate sets of equipment, a la ItemRack. And those sets, like the current character panel's set, will not take up bag space. Maybe this will be enough, maybe not. As a Druid though this is going to help a lot.

Is that card from Warlords?

It was mentioned at BlizzCon that when Blizzard incorporate addons like "ItemRack" into the game that Blizzard could do something that no addon maker could do: give you more slots for those item sets.

Id like to see 6 or 8 bag slots or more or just large bags you can put onto your mounts. If you can make a whole horse fit into a bag, why not a horse with bags on it? Plus, it would fit in line with what a horse can do.
More bag slots on slower horses, even less on regular flying mounts.

Sapient Pearwood!

Personally, I love the 36 slot bags that are given on the test realms. =) Every epic you could want is there, including the gems to gear them the way you want. Of course this is only on the pre-made 70 characters. But it's still a heck of a lot of space.

I guess I kinda agree with #4, but I think a friend told me that it was implemented in DDO well... 'Outfits' that you could switch between--and thus tabbed in your inventory window... As a Druid, I'd take a secondary 'Outfit' slot, and Blizz could definately free up some bag space with a few 'crafting' outfits or what not... Automatically equipping +riding equipment and removing/reverting to the previous item upon combat/dismount would be nice too... No idea really...

Ha. Nice Terry Pratchett reference, glad to see there are others who enjoy his work.

I have many bag issues. I generally keep supplies for raiding on me at all times because I often have to get on right before the raid. And I also have to keep my pvp gear in my bag for stamina sets for raiding and also so I don't have to run across the map to change stuff out, and then change it back.
I am also a hunter so I have to give up 18 slots of bag space for my quiver.
Not to mention the different kinds of foods I have to carry with me for different pets and quantities enough sustain me for farming or raiding.
Even if I complete clear out my bag of stuff I don't necessarily need to keep on me at all times like pvp gear or raid consumables, the amount of free bag space is not enough due to acquiring tons of shit during doing dailies, farming and all that.
Having said all that, I know iw ould bitch about it still if I didn't have to give up 18 slots to my quiver.

"Better stuff in the works" = instead of actual lootable items dropped from quests etc., they're just flagged items that come and go, stored in a separate space like keys, but just temporary. That way you never have to say, "hey, do I still need this item?," or accidentally delete a quest item. Clears massive amounts of space.

There is also Blizzard precedent for having multiple gear sets - in Diablo II (expansion, I think) you could equip two sets of weapons and swap them on the fly. Now if they would only allow us 3 entire gear sets to swap between it would go a long ways towards clearing up my paladin's bags/bank.

How about a non-combat comrade to carry all our shit?

Oooh, if I could get a Luggage to follow me around on all it's tiny feet, would it count as a combat pet?
Kraki Sep 12th 2007 7:45PM
you get +45 cool points for the sapient pearwood reference :-p

I think every WoW player needs his own Patsy.

@11 That's exactly what Warhammer online does, you loot a quest item and it makes a note of it, but it doesn't actually occupy a bag slot.
In fact, a lot of what Warhammer online is doing really puts WoW to shame, to the point where you say to yourself "why do we have to put up with this garbage in WoW?" Group quests, easy talent readjustments, appropriate class quest loot, etc. Blizz needs to update the things we all hate about WoW, some of it just isn't fun.

I would prefer, instead of lootable drop-quest items and vendor trash greys, why not make it kill x number of y quests, and make the mobs drop silver equivalent to what it would be. There's nothing worse than going down into the Netherwing Mines and filling up three 18-slot bags with various forms of sludge, goo and ichor before you get your quests done.

@3 Yep, for sure. I loved that ccg before they reset it.
G Sep 13th 2007 8:49AM
@4 Yeah, I knew I heard that as well. I was surprised when no one really made a big deal about it. Maybe that's just because I play a druid.
