Forum Post of the Day: Upgrade online with caution

If you are among those who have not yet purchased the expansion, you might want to hold off from ordering it online. According to a recent forum post, some customers are having a bit of trouble when they attempt to buy The Burning Crusade through Blizzard's website: a bit of trouble in the wallet to be specific.
It appears that the website is having issues completing orders, but is totally fine with charging for them, sometimes multiple times. The blues offer suggestions on how to deal with the issue, ranging from contacting your bank about the multiple charges to clearing your internet cache or even trying a different card. This still leaves those who previously encountered the Error 202 in the lurch, so-to-speak, without much in the way of assistance.
Have any of you encountered this problem? It would seem to me to be a pretty big deal, getting charged like six times for a game that you don't even get to play. Do you have any suggestions for how to deal with this?
[thanks Matt]

I didn't have any multiple purchase issues, but about 2 minutes after paying I received a phone call from my bank just confirming that it was me making the purchase and not someone who has stolen my card.
Maybe it's a similar problem

I put the information of my credit card for my subscription paying method, it was all ok, but when i tried to put it to upgrade to BC the web page told me that the credit card number was invalid, numerous times. Anyone with the same problem?

Purchase direct @ Amazon.com ftw. Even costs less, and I've only had one problem with them - and they resolved it completely to my satisfaction.
I understand the allure of instant gratification and all, but let's face it - something as big as TBC is not going to be instant no matter how fat your pipe.

If you get multiple charged, inform Blizz that they'd better give you your money back immediately or you're going to get them for double billing and theft as well as fraud.
If the game doesn't work after you pay and download, tell Blizz they'd better send you a disk immediately or you're going to sue them for theft and fraud.
They'd also better give you some free time for your hassle as well.
Can you say - class action lawsuit?

This isn't the first time it's happened, as I recall. Weren't there similar problems with upgrading from trial accounts to full accounts when they started that?
Unless you're completely housebound, I'm not sure I see the advantage of upgrading online. They don't charge any less for it and if you're downloading the client, it's more than likely going to take less time to go to the store and buy it.

I had the same problem and i ended up just going to best buy and getting it. It took blizz a week to cancel everything out.

This has been a problem since they started selling the digital version of the expansion, and since then there hasn't been an official response/post, not even to say they're working on it.

Oh man! i tried to upgrade today and had the same problem as Toti, the "invalid credit card number" message, sad i didn't found this post before, i hope they don't charge me for the tries :S /cry

Me again, i was so mad 'cause untill a couple of minutes ago had the same "invalid credit card number" error message that many people had. But i just did what the other guys in the blizzard forum suggested:
- Zip code = 4 last digits of your CC
- Clear CC number field and re-type it
- Type Security code
And good to go, it worked!
i just hope that the earlier tries dont become charges!! :S

Is there a difference between the Online upgrade for TBC between the American site and the European site?
I'm not able to get the enter your card details on the European site, only gives an option to download and enter a key from a purchased copy.
On the American site I can not login with my normal WOW account ?

Ok, so let me try again, is there anyone on this forum that actually registered on a European server, that have been able to do an online upgrade?
Forget about duplicate charges etc..... (I want to know if you were able to do it online - or not - European only please .....
