New movies to download from WorldofWarcraft.com
Blizzard has two new movies to download from their movie page on worldofwarcraft.com. One is a highlight video from BlizzCon 2007 which includes clips from the costume and dance competitions. The other is a gameplay trailer of Lament of the Highborne. For those of you not familiar with the quest, you find a necklace when questing in Ghostlands and are told to turn it in to Lady Sylvanas in the Undercity. When you do, after angrily sending you on your way, she sings the Lament of the Highborne, accompanied by some Highborne ghosts. This is one of my favorite quests in WoW and the song is hauntingly beautiful.
The video does more than just show the gameplay footage of Lady Sylvanas singing her lament. It shows the actual story and loss of the necklace while the song is sung. It does not explain why Sylvanas is displayed as an undead Night Elf normally but is a Blood Elf in the video, but I can get over that. Maybe Blood Elf Banshees look like Night Elves for some reason.
The BlizzCon video is good if you want to see the fun of the event, but for me the real treat is the Lament of the Highborne video.

"She has since reclaimed her body and become queen of these undead rebels, the Forsaken."
Taken from the description of the video. Probably can be taken as canon.
Nu-uh, she's not a banshee anymore, she got her old body reposessed. A decaying high elf body would end up like a NE probably. Explains the drooping ears.
But the video is awesome, even though it's just machinima. I like how the land turned dark from the undead. Nice to see a music video :)

I loved this questline when I started my BE Pally the week the expansion came out. When I turned this in I was talking in guild chat about it and tons hadn't seen it yet and were quickly getting to UC to catch part of it.
When my gf turned it in, I watched it again as did several others and tons of people in UC. I really think that is one of the better questlines in the game and I like the story of Lady Sylvana's.
Of course I like most all the lore in Wow, but this is in my top 20 for sure.
If you haven't done this quest line I'd suggest taking the time to check it out, it's worth it.

I actually do this quest everytime I start a belf alt (recently I changed realm completely and started from scratch) and EVERY time Sylvanas sings some hordies who come around to turn in q stop and look at her:)
Actually I have SS from last time, although there was only one hordie at that time passing by:)

completed this mission the other day as a BE paladin. of course there were a bunch of people there going "what is this?". my favorite moment though was when a level 50 BE paladin going "what mission is this from?".
nice models of arthas/frostmourne too.

BTW, If you stick around for a bit, there is a message that she sighs and picks up the locket she discarded.

yeah if you wait till the end, the pala trainer syas something to you( and you dont need to be a palla) then if you speak to him he gives you a book with the lyrics of the song in it.

Technically she's a high elf in the video, not a blood elf--note the blue eyes. They may have screwed up her model in-game, but they went out of their way to get it right for the vid, ironically.

having been the Ranger-General of the High Elves of Quel'Thalas, Sylvanas was a High Elf in life as others have pointed out. High Elves are currently depicted in game (some you can find at Allerian Stronghold) as looking like blood elves minus the glowing green eyes, but with the voice of night elves.
At the time Sylvanas was implemented, the night elf model was the only one available so that's why they made her one. It bugs me to this day that they didn't fix her when TBC came out and they could've done better but eeh, whatever.
