Welcome to Ask WoW Insider where we publish one of your questions every week. Last time we looked at whether or not healing can be as competitive as dpsing, and this week we return our attention to one of everybody's favorite topics: loot. Sephran writes: I started karazhan about 4 months ago. I was a resto druid and I was looking for that Shard of the Virtuous. The 1st time we rolled, another resto druid got it.. she promptly left the guild the following week... The 2nd time I passed it on to someone else who needed it A LOT more then I did. The 3rd time.. lost the roll again. Once I transfered guilds I thought it would be better.. but alas.. it dropped with more new people to kara.. I once again passed the hammer to another person for a super mega upgrade to them. The 5th time.. it dropped and I finnally won it!!!We looked at this question shortly before BC came out, "in memoriam" for items we might truly never see now that focus would be shifting to all the new gear that would await in Outland. So now that the expansion is out, what gear has been eluding you? What is that one drop you just can't seem to get, or finally found its way to you after a long and strange journey?
Tops my Happiest moments in WoW, thats for sure. Then on Opera my priest friend finally got her Masquerade gown that she had never seen drop since the 1st time I got it 4 months ago. So I'm wondering what TBC drop has escaped you? Any good stories to go along with why you haven't gotten it?

Up until last week, my resto druid was still using the Stormrage gloves, because despite there being no lack of options for me in 5mans, Karazhan, and SSC/TK, they had refused to drop.
Course, as soon as Mitts of the Treemender dropped from maiden, the Defender token finally dropped from Curator, too. >.<
A paladin in our group has been chasing the Shard for months. It's never dropped for us, neither has the hammer off of prince.

I have run Kara countless times and done Opera too many times to count. I have missed out on The Ribbon from that encounter many times and now it won't drop.

ok...ran mechanar from half way into honored, to exalted on my rogue, never seen an abacus Or tunic of assassination, until the last run i did, I hit exalted on the trash mobs getting to panthelon or whatever his name is, and then he dropped both, and i won both over a hunter that decided to roll on them also.
hit exalted with kara already, seen the shoulders from chess drop once, and taken by a feral druid.

On my warrior: 30-40 Heroic Mech runs(I lost count) - 0 Sun Eaters
On my hunter: 30 Heroic Mech runs - 7 Sun Eaters
I've also been getting shutout on King's Defender in the Opera.

I'm a Holy Paladin, and want to preface by saying i have most of what i need from Kara. But the following just won't drop for me: Libram from Opera, T4 Mitts from Curator, Shield from Chess, Belt from Netherspite & Light's Justice from Prince.

We are doing Kale'thas now in TK, and I have never seen Dragonspine Trophy drop.. I want it so bad.

I've been looking for that blue gun from the final Mech boss... drops in both normal and heroic of course. I have done 30-40 normals and around 20 heroics, seen it drop once and went to a hunter of course. Being a rogue I don't need it as such, but it's slightly better than the one I have and adds more AP.

Last I checked on my server, the Kings Defender dropped in Chess. Maybe you need a different server.

I was well past exalted on my hunter before I saw a ranged weapon drop in Karazhan. I saw the gun drop off of Doomwalker before BBW gave it up for me.

I was present at every single kill then on the 27th I had a friends birthday. It dropped, some dude won and left the guild. Then I decided to wait for dark edge of insanity

I've been very unlucky with gear on my hunter. Due to a slower (but fun) progression in Kara in my last guild, my item of choice was the Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle. Every new week I'd get a giddy feeling inside thinking "this is it! this is going to be my week!"
Sadly, it never was. Every time I went and we fought the Wolf, he refused to drop my gun. The only time I saw it drop, fate had it it go to another hunter who was a little higher on the guild totem pole (and who won the roll even though they had the crossbow from Attumen as compared to my lowly blue Emberhawk Crossbow). All the other times I either couldn't make it to Kara that night or subbed out because we *really* needed that mage/healer, he would THROW that gun at the raid with a maniacal laughter, and it'd either go to some rogue/warrior who thought it was nice and shiny or it'd be sharded.
As for other gear? Only things I got from Kara out of the god-knows-how-many runs I went to were:
Stalker's War Bands
Farstrider Wildercloak
Hooray.

QUAG'S EYE. Dear god, i have run 16+ Heroic SP runs, and I still haven't gotten it. It hasn't even dropped since the third time i ran it. I've been exalted with CE for about 2 months now. Sheesh.
That and the dagger of prince. But we've only seen 4 of em drop total, in both our groups in 3 months downing prince (thats about 25 prince downs, lots of malchs, only 1 gorehowl, heh). Since we should down gruul soon, im just saving my DKP for his sword =D.

The healing shield from chess event in Kara.
After passing several times for people who needed it a lot more than I did, the shield finally dropped and I was the only one who rolled. =D Yay! Many, many months of waiting finally paid off. Now if only the Legplates of the Innocent would drop sometime, then I would have everything I need from Kara. At least for pally healing. Now just a few more pieces for my tanking set.

I have wanted Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle or w/e from Opera in Kara since I started kara. We have not ONCE gotten BB Wolf. We almost did once. When we were newer to it we would send someone inside to die and see what the event was. We did that once and got BBW and he chased someone out of the room. When we went back to do it for real it was the BBW stage set, w/ the trees and all, but it was R&J :( * *

Much like you my Holy Priest is in the same boat, come to think of it the exact same boat!
We've been running Kara for 3-4 months now. For the 1st month I was specc'd as Shadow. The first time we took down Maiden she dropped the awesome healing Mace, I was Shadow so respectivally I passed on it. Few weeks later she dropped the healing bracer's and again I passed.
We lost one of our main healers allowing me to step into the Holy Light. For the past 2.5 months I beg my guild weekly to help down Maiden in the hope she drops the Mace and Bracer's. As a guild we are heavy on Melee DPS so downing the Maiden can prove to be a challenge. I've seen her down'd about 4-5 times in the past 2 months and not once has she dropped the bracer's nor the Mace
As it stands now im at +1550 healing so gear wise im doing great. Our guild is progressing, not fast not to slow, just one step at a time. The problem I face now is the ONLY boss that is worth while doing, and is within my reach (excluding the Sha'tar exalted Mace or the Shadow labs Heroic mace) is Maiden. Im sure there is more to see in Gruul and what not, but our guild just isnt there. Another interesting "flaw" ive come across is greed system. We run with Suicide Kings, for the past month now ive been sitting at our #1 spot, a lot of nice DPS cloth gear has dropped that got sharded heck even the Teir 4 gloves which are a small upgrade for me dropped twice off Curator - But because I don't want to lose my top spot on the list ive had to pass watching gear get sharded or passed along.
Oh wells, maybe next week! I guess it is the one thing thats keeping me going...

What is a resto druid hoping for Shard of the Virtuous for? (Unless it's a healing-touch druid). The general rule for the healing maces is:Shard for Pallies and Shaman, Light's Justice for Druids/Priests. But that's just my opinion and there's many people that ignore that...
But anyways, it took my forever to get Stonebough Jerkin off Nightbane. So long, in fact, that by the time I finally got it I had to weigh taking it against the very good possibility of getting the tier 4 chest off Mag.

Mask of Pennance (or whatever) from Steamvaults. Used to be the gun would drop EVERY time. Now it is the healy staff. I am wearing a green +110 healing plate helm. I would prefer the purple judgement... But NO!!!!

Your guild SUCKS. Seriously. Get a new guild, some of the stuff you said there is just RETARDED. We would always give people backup gear if they wanted it before we would shard it. What a bunch of jerks. I'm sure it's just so your GM/Raid Leader can sell the shards too! Get a new guild for real!

The Purple Judgment Set/Non-Set. I have hit Steam Vaults enough times to cause my eyes to bleed and the stupid mask never dropped for me to the point that a guildmate warrior had it drop three times and would always wear it around me. I never got more then three pieces of the gear and by the time I got the boots I was in Tier 4/5 gear so it was for naught.
