Let Malygos go to it, we didn't want magic anyway
We've already heard, as you may know by now, that Malygos, the blue dragon aspect, will return in Wrath of the Lich King, and, as the Guardian of Magic, is supposed to be a little unhappy at all the Mages running around. Malygos' big thing is that he wants to keep magic from the mortal races-- he doesn't trust them to use it without destroying the world. The only thing that's kept him from doing something crazy is the fact that he hasn't had a dragonflight for a while-- Deathwing wiped them out, more or less. But in Wrath, Malygos is back, and so is his mind, and so is his dragonflight. The Blue Dragonflight is returning (thanks to Alexstrazsa's help), and as Metzen told us at BlizzCon, Malygos is waking up, looking around, and seeing all these little mortal players wielding magic like it was a game (a massively multiplayer game, more appropriately). And so he's not likely going to be happy with Mages when we arrive in Northrend.
To which Takeru says: maybe Malygos is right. Maybe we shouldn't be using magic for our own purposes-- look what it did to the elves. Non-mage players are even saying we should give up the Mages to Malygos anyway-- what did they ever do for us, right? (err, besides make water and food and port us around and polymorph our enemies...)
At any rate, it probably won't matter-- Malygos will probably bring the war to us, and if he doesn't, then the Kirin Tor (also in Northrend) will probably bring the fight to him by recruiting us to do it. Either way, we'll likely find the Aspect of the Blue Dragonflight on the wrong end of our pointy sticks.

Ok i just think it is sad that of the five dragon aspect that we fight, deathwing isn't the first. Sure we have faught many of the black dragonflight. But Mayglos is just doing his job deathwing is the one we should be going after.
I agree Leave Mayglos alone

Why the mage-hate? What about 'locks, boomkins, priests, and pallies?
Is it just ambiguous magic oppose to demonic-, elemental-, or holy-derived magic?
Scruffy Sep 21st 2007 2:28PM
Oh, and shammies.

Omigosh... I dunwanna kill Malygos! He's kind of quirky and adorable and then so sad and crazy. I feel bad enough killing the little blue whelps in Winterspring.

Great, after a thousand little nerfs, Blizzard is gonna implement The Great Mage Nerf of 2008 and have Malygos permakill us the moment we press the "Place Order" button for the next expansion pack.

Warlocks - corrupted
Druids - Forces of nature
Shamans - Power of Elements
Priests and Pallys - followers of light.
Mages - Pure Magic, the same type of magic that sundered the world once 10.000 years ago when yeled by Highborn elves.

Warrior: “What have mages ever done for us, anyway!?”
Priest: “Yeah!”
Rogue: “Well, they do pump out massive DPS.”
Warrior: “What?”
Rogue: “They pump out massive DPS.”
Warrior: “Oh, yeah, yeah. They do pump out massive DPS.”
Shaman: “And food and water! Remember all those times you didn’t have any of your own?”
Warrior: “Yeah, alright, I’ll grant you the massive DPS and the food and water are two things the mages have done.”
Warlock: “And porting.”
Paladin: “Sheeping.”
Warrior: “Oh, alright, but apart from massive DPS, conjured food and water, portals to every major city, and polymorphing things into sheep, what have the mages ever done for us?”
Priest: “Arcane Intelligence.”
Warrior: “Oh, Int. Shut up!”

Have we even TRIED parley or diplomacy? Diplomacy is a human RACIAL for crying out loud. And who leads the Kirin Tor? Rhonin, the HUMAN mage.
I sure hope that Mygalos does not die, he just got his sanity back! He is a good character, why kill him off right when he gets his mind back...we just need to get him thousands of years worth of newspapers. Fill him in on the times, as it were.
Didn't they say something about the Nether Dragons having something to do with Mygalos's return to sanity? Sons of DEATHWING? Perhaps Mygalos is still Mad, but in a much different manner...
Then again, I have an interesting idea about the Mygalos fight...Norzdormu knows when he will die...what if it was a sacrifice to save his brother?

What's this, then? "Magus eunt domus"? People called Mage, they go, the house?
It says, "Mages go home"
No it doesn't! What's the latin for "Mage"? Come on, come on !

@10 Actually....
Druids deal with arcane magic too not only nature, i.e. Moonfire, Starfire, Teleport: Moonglade
Warlocks - Demonic or shadow magic, they are not corrupted, they just know how to corrupt others. In fact, the nelfs that caused the sundering were actually practicing arcane magic and demonology.
Wildhammer Sep 21st 2007 3:59PM
Well Malygos's realm is Arcane magic, Demonic magic isn't within his control. The Titans never suspected the Demons would come to Azeroth so they never programmed the Blue Flight to moderate Demonic magic as well as Arcane. Thus, Malygos feels compelled to kill all Mages, not Warlocks.
Druids and Shamans are benevolent magicusers, since they use Nature.

Malygos's realm is all magic. So if he says no more mages then that’s it no more mages. I'm tired of killing off all of the best characters WOW lore has to offer. There have already been a lot of complaints about this. Killing off one of the good Aspects is taking it a little too far.
Jp Sep 21st 2007 4:21PM
From a lore point of view, Malygos is concerned all the arcane usage will draw the Legion back to Azeroth.
The reason he's still mad is because he fails to realize - the Legion never stopped trying to conquer Azeroth.

Stupid magic tricks! Hera SMASH!

Nobody expects the Magi Inquisition! Our chief weapon is sheep...sheep and drinks...drinks and sheep.... Our two weapons are drinks and sheep...and ruthless efficient DPS.... Our *three* weapons are drinks, sheep and ruthless efficient DPS...and an almost fanatical devotion to porting.... Our *four*...no... *Amongst* our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as drinks, sheep.... I'll come in again.
