New patch coming to the PTRs and it's not what you think

Patch 2.2.2 is coming to the Public Test Realm later today according to Hortus. Instead of Zul'Aman or more Voice Chat testing, Blizzard is putting their October Holiday content up. The first event, Brewfest, is a new holiday for Azeroth. Early reports hint at attack kegs, signalling Dark Iron dwarves, racing rams, and even sausage eating. Sounds suspiciously like the annual German event, Oktoberfest.
After Brewfest, Blizzard will test the Hallows End festivities. Considering this long held event is on the Test server hints that Blizzard may have some new tricks or treats in store for us. Mountable flying brooms have already been spotted in the Test files. Hallows End is scheduled to start October 18th on the Live servers.
As long as we are on the subject of holidays, the Harvest Festival goes live on Monday and end on this Friday. Honor the champions of Azeroth by visiting their monuments.
Pre-made L70s are again available for copying, though it would seem odd that they are needed considering most holiday content of this type is not level dependent.
Either way, PTRs are up, pre-mades are available and preternatural pints are yours for the testing.

What!? Does this mean we have to wait even longer for 2.2?

When does the PTR Start up again?

@1
No, it means we're testing a new patch (2.2.2). Live patch 2.2.0 should be coming Tuesday.

The patches have to roll out a little faster if they're going to keep their holiday plans on schedule. This is the unspoken deadline amongst all the "when it's ready" comments.

@5 of course, getting 2.2.2 live is prolly their biggest concern at the moment, since its only a few weeks away.
Once that's live they'll switch back to zul'aman.

Oh FFS.
I am so tired of Blizzard right now.
EVE here I come.

LOL and everyone belived blue when they said
"2.3 is going to hit the PTR right after 2.2, blah blah blah"
guess they forgot to tell us about the months of 2.2.2 and 2.2.3 and 2.2.4

You're so tired of...them putting together fun casual content for a holiday right after wrapping up a major patch? WTF? I don't see how anyone could possibly complain about a minor holiday patch. :p

I love it, this is awesome. I'm a huge fan of all of Blizzard's goofy holiday interpretations, and I can't wait for Brewfest.
Green Armadillo Sep 22nd 2007 10:14AM
There's no way that they were finishing testing on 2.3 before October 18th (or earlier for the brewfest thing), so the mini-patch had to happen. The real good news/bad news in this story is that they're not going to rush 2.3 out the door.
Laukidh Sep 22nd 2007 12:30PM
@8. It'll probably be out before 2.4. That's my prediction.
we3bus Sep 22nd 2007 12:54PM
@7 Good luck with that! Have fun staring at your spreadsheet-in-space while the rest of us are kickin' back dwarven brews.

I'm tired of blizzard dragging their feet. 2.2 has been taking forever, and the whole time I'm waiting for bugfixes, UI changes and ZA to go live.
In the meantime however we get integrated voice chat?
After playing WoW for 2+ years in a casual raid guild I'm frankly getting tired of the Blizzard antics. Yes, I'll go play a MMO with some actual depth while I wait for AoC and WAR to go live and try those out.

I don't understand what all the whining's about? This PTR will probably be up for 2 or 3 weeks tops and then ZA will most liklely hit the PTR. Have a little patience...
Jakor Sep 22nd 2007 8:32PM
They used to "drag their feet" less and bring things out more hastily. The result was always horrible bugs, server crashes, etc and everyone whined about it. The other option is to let things spend more time in PTR until all the kinks are worked out. There's no perfect solution, it's one or the other.

@14: So wait, you're bitching that you have to wait for BUG FIXES?! I mean, fuck, QQ Moar, not /everyone/ wants a shitty bugged up game... if you wanted that... go play Runescape or something
