Class improvement ideas from the European forums
MVP Schwick on the European WoW forums has compiled a weekly list of the best class improvement suggestions culled from the boards. He usually organizes this list by theme, but for this week its a free-for-all of interesting concepts. Here are the highlights:- Talah of Ravenholdt would like to see Paladins improve their ability to heal multiple targets by changing how Holy Shock works.
- Neerco of Thunderhorn would like a player to be able to click off DoTs they've placed on mobs before they've run their full course. This would be helpful if a DoT'ed mob needed to be CC'd.
- Moolik of Arathor would like Tier 4/5/6 armor to be tradable with the reward NPCs for all the class variation sets. For example, once a Druid picks the Restoration set, he can then turn it in for the Feral set if he changes specs.
- Umah of Frostwolf has many, many suggestions to make playing a druid more fun.
- And Kalpothyz of Al'Akir wants Priest buffs to have lower mana costs so he can get back into the Battlegrounds without losing half his mana bar to rebuffing.

Moolik's idea is brilliant.

How about Spirit actually working out for Shamans?

I think all the buff abilities could use lower mana costs. I hate having to sit around and wait for priests, mages, and druids to regain all their mana after buffing the party.

I think I know Moolik... It's a nice idea indeed!

I take it you didn't notice the less than tactful Druid CM that said that paladins had 'purge'. Granted, he tried to backpedal, but the damage was done.

Here is an idea:
Make a 'feign death' that is actually usefull in PvP.........

Cancelable dots is a fantastic idea. It'd be nice to be able to cancel a banish as well. (unless all the locks just lie to me when they say they can't break it early like you can with a sheep)

Dear Santa Claus,
This Christmas I would like ability's that not only make my class like every other class but also make it over powered, but also make obtaining loot more easy (sure it deviates the entire point of the game but i want epixxxx !). I also want like 15 new spells and my own personal one shot button because im great.

An average suggestion forum poster
p.s I also want a copy of conan and warhammer online, so I can say on blizzards forums that im quitting, and i can say on the other games respective forums that they suck.

Most class suggestions, including a majority of the threads listed here seem to be plagued by a desire for action without consequence. The druid wants a "feign" so she can switch out to tanking gear in the middle of a fight. The priest, albeit a bit more reasonably, wants reduced buff costs so he doesn't lose so much mana. The tier swap suggestion is pretty self explanatory.
Part of playing any MMORPG is, in my opinion, the divergence of character through race, class, spec, skillset, talent distribution, etc. There are choices to be made, and those choices have consequences. You cannot DPS at your full potential and tank at your full potential. You cannot heal single targets and groups as well as a specifically single target healer, or a specifically group healer. There are consequences to choice, and that's what makes it a CHOICE.
I would like to see class suggestions that retain the choice in a spec, meaning that there are trade-offs. Enough with this "I want to heal and dps in every form possible," or "I want to perform my utility spells (buffs) at little to no cost, ad nausea [sic] with no cooldowns." Choices have consequences, so look to the places where those consequences far outweigh the benefits. Suggestions to remove consequence eliminates the importance of choice, flattens the class spectrum, and homogenizes the game.

I think a lot of the druid suggestions would make us too overpowered but there's two simple things that I would like:
1) Change Tree of Life form to be the following (it hanbdles more survivability and pvp utility as well as being able to decurse/ht while in treeform):
"Transforms the Druid into the Tree of Life Form. While in this form you increase healing received by 25% of your total Spirit for all party members within 45 yards, your movement speed is reduced by 20%, and the armor contribution from items is increased by 400%. The Tree of Life can only cast Restoration spells while shapeshifted but the mana cost of these spells is reduced by 20%."
2) Give us a regular no cooldown, no reagent Ressurection spell in addition to rebirth.

@7 Feign death already has a use in PvP- if a mage is a-chargin his pyroblast, feign death at the 2 second mark and he loses his target. There are other abilities from other classes that literally do nothing in PvP (fade, taunt, etc) that would be looked at before feign death.

@Jeff Morgan well said

OK, get this
Rogues should get a sort of paladin type aura buff called "Enveloping Shadows" in which friendly targets within a distance from the rogue get an additional chance to dodge. Finally give us some raid utility other than dps and the occasional sap.

@10 Thank you for voicing my exact opinion to articulately! =)

If Druids get a regular res, then everyone else should get a battle res.
AareDub Sep 22nd 2007 9:56PM
@12
Taunt actually does have pvp use if you're fighting a warlock that uses a succubus. Of course, even if you nullify the succubus.... you've still gotta deal with the warlock :-\
Chris son Sep 22nd 2007 11:14PM
Yeah there's almost no point in me having to burn through 40% of my mana, all of it if I haven't made water in advance to buff a party and provide them with water.
Chris son Sep 22nd 2007 11:18PM
How can you even cry about usefulness of feign death? You're one of the most overpowered pvp classes in the game. :|
