Engineering crafted flying mounts confirmed
Gyrocopter pilots of Azeroth, your day is coming. So says CM Bornakk today in the official forums. He mentioned both normal and epic mounts arriving in Test Patch 2.3. He went on to clarify where Blizzard is on the development of these:The specifics of the mounts, such as skill and materials, isn't finalized yet, but we really want to get this mount/machine/gizmo into the game for engineers to enjoy. Whether it is easy or a challenge, the road to it will begin in 2.3, keep an eye out for when it hits the PTRs. ;-)
This news is so cool, makes me want to go out and level up engineering. But the question now is: what form will this mechanized flying mount take? WoW Wiki has an entry on gnomish flying machines from Warcraft 2 and their evolution into dwarven gyrocoptors and then gnomish biplanes.
But where's the line between fantasy and science fiction in Azeroth? Is Engineering just another kind of "magic"? What form would you like to see the engineered flying mount?

Engineering is only good for a couple things - epic goggles and goblin rocket launcher being just about it. I power leveled engineering last week - 1-350 in a couple hours, buying out all the mats and using a guide. Cost me about 700g, but now I have the tankatronic goggles and can craft the healing and dps ones as well.
This will be a welcome addition, hopefully the mats won't be too crazy.

Two cents I'd like to add. There should be a difference between the Goblin and Gnomish mounts, and the designs should be based off of the vehicles at the Shimmering Flats.

If Blizzard expects me to kiss their butt for throwing us engineers a bone like this, they're mistaken. The goggles are nice, and they're the ONLY reason I didn't dump it long ago. I also made the mistake of choosing Gnomish engineering early on, and I can't swap to Goblin without unlearning EVERYTHING and starting over from 0.
I'd like to see engineering armor *sets*, and items that I can actually hope to sell for a profit (similar to scopes). Required quest items like the deadly Blunderbuss, mithril casing, and etc, were decent money-makers for their day. Ho-hum items like the adamantite rifle only serve to mock me now. A lot of garbage at the bottom, and a couple items at the ultra top-end, and almost nothing in the middle. (with emphasis on garbage)

I would like to see Starscream as a mount.

Sounds like Leshrac got pwned by a gnomes a few too many times and since his guild is sick of his QQing in vent he has to come here and show what a small epeen he has.
Over in the AV thread he's call Alliance 'pu$$ies'. Class act, this one.
L2P and stop lashing out little boy.

Don't tease me! Really? WOOOOOT!
Finally, all the wasted time and gold lvling my engineering pays off! Sure the bombs come in handy, but we can't make anything non-engineers can use, so it is a drain on the finances. Which is why there are so few engineers. Although, having a repair bot in an instance or raid does make one popular!
I might have to start my subscription back up. :0P

Oh yeah, @13, grow up dude! We don't all hate Gnomes.
Sure they kinda creep me out, but I don't hate them. :0)
Afterall, they aren't that much shorter than us Dwarfs.

I want a jetpack. For a jetpack I'd drop a profession and grind 1-375 engineering.
