Blizzard giving away gaming headsets

To celebrate the arrival of WoW's new integrated Voice Chat in Patch 2.2, Blizzard is giving away 40 Logitech Digital Precision PC gaming headsets a week for the next 5 weeks. The winners each week will be randomly selected according to how long they have had an active account. Those who have only been playing for 3 months can only win the first week. The final week is for players who have been active for 15 months or more.
How do I enter? Just keep your account active.
Who is eligible? US Citizens who don't live in states like New York and Florida where it is prohibited. There are other people who are ineligible, so please check the sweepstakes rules page.
How do I know if I've won? They'll choose your character with the most played time and list the character's name and server on the WoW main site. Then they will notify you by email within the next 5 days -- so make sure the email that you have listed in your account info is current.
Will Voice Chat be enabled and working on my server by the time I'm eligible to win a headset? The first week ends October 6, so we all should have had Voice Chat enabled on our servers by that time. Theoretically.

"Sweepstakes is void in New York..."
Gotta love good ol' New York. High taxes, sad sports teams and now this. Fan-freakin'-tastic.

I wonder how many dial-up users will win this? lol
TotalBiscuit Sep 27th 2007 9:35AM
Who seriously plays WoW on Dialup?

Let me save you all some time, those headsets suck.
I accidentally cut one of the wires on my cheap Logitech Headset and went out and got one of these. I took it back the next day.
The foam used around the ears isn't breathable. It causes your ears and head to sweat. Also the headset is non-adjustable and the bulk of it is at the back. It is constantly pulling down on your head. The microphone itself sits super-close to your mouth. I don't know who designed this at Logitech, but they obviously never put it on and used it for more than an hour.

So speaking of...
Can anyone recommend a good headset/mic deal?
If it matters, I run WoW on a Mac :)
Thanks for the suggestions in advance.
And for letting me attempt to hijack the thread :P

Why can't people in States like New York and Florida enter?
Sylythn Sep 27th 2007 9:45AM
I've got a USB Plantronics mono/mic headset that I love - comfortable, easy to set up, durable. I forget the model number, but it's the only mono/mic/usb one they offer.

Creative had 2 headsets on display at Blizzcon, one was the fatality model (the creative labs guy said it wasn't very good) & the other model isn't sold in the states yet...

To the Mac guy, I use this - Logitech Premium USB Headset 350

I used this headset for a very short while. I totally agree with 5 on every point.
I'll add that the mic also makes your voice sound robotic, atleast that is what my fellow vent users say...Im known as robo-esu!
LOL

ONLY US, excluding NY, FL, and RI, plus any 'territory'.
I'd feel bad, being in NY, but I have a good headset. Why downgrade? =P

Why does Blizzard hate Florida? Is it because we never have blizzards here? Well that wouldn't work for New York because they get smacked all the time with snow....
Seriously though, does anyone know what stupid legislation keeps us from receiving free stuff?

if this thing sucks so much, if i win, i'm not accepting it, i don't feel like paying taxes on it :)

Haha EU is the proven win in WoW and yet they can't seize to give prizes to the US.
sister_b Sep 27th 2007 2:02PM
The states that can't enter probably have some weird tax law in effect or something. I know California once (or currently, not sure) had a law that stated that nothing could be given away by a company to a consumer without at least a survey question being asked. Therefore, the cell phone company I worked for had each employee ask a customer activating a new phone what their favorite music artist was so that we could put the advertised 100 free minutes on their account.
And this contest almost makes me regret shutting down my US account to switch to EU. Almost.

If you don't want to go uber expensive like Seinhauser, Plantronics is definitely the way to go. They took all their expertise is the traditional phone headset market, and applied it to computer headsets. The results are headsets that are lightweight, comfortable, and made from quality components. Usually are around US$40.

That's "Sennheiser" and they do make some of the best cans around. I use them for music listening and recording. On the other hand, a friend and I picked up some cheapo Logitech USB 250's for Teamspeak (-speex on the Mac) and they work great for that. They would likely be ok for WoW voice chat. Our server hasn't been activated yet, so I can't verify.

well there goes any chance of seeing me use voice chat. no way in hell i'm buying a headset, and since it's void in New f'n York, I don't even have a chance to win.....
god i hate ny
