Patch 2.3 and you: Thursday grab-bag
Though the torrent of tidbits coming from Blizz Central has slowed, there are still a few new and interesting items for everyone (particularly Hunters, Mages, and melee people) to peruse today.- [Hunter] Trueshot Aura will be free to cast and is going to last until canceled. (source)
- [Hunter] Serpent Sting, Immolation Trap and Explosive Trap are going to gain additional damage based on ranged attack power. (source)
- [Mage] Fire Ward and Frost Ward now gain additional benefit from spell damage bonuses (source)
- [Mage] Detect Magic removed, all players will see their target's beneficial effects at all times (source)
- [Rogue] one other change to poisons though is that they will last for one hour now, increased from 30 minutes. (source)
- all disarm immunity effects in the game were changed to 50% disarm duration reduction (non stacking) (source)
- The Guild Banks are still in the works and planned for patch 2.3. (source)
- Duration of wizard and mana oils created by enchanters has been increased. (source)
- Auction House will now sort server side. If multiple pages exist you will be able to sort across all pages.
- Auction House post times have been changed to 12, 24, and 48 hours. Deposit prices remain the same for each time increment.
- You will now be able to ctrl-click a recipe to preview the item the recipe will create in the dressing room.
- Ogri'la Faction Vendor: This vendor now sells potions useable anywhere for a large number of Apexis Shards. 50 shards, as good as super mana/heal pots. (source for the above 4)

How's it going to work on the PTRs with guild banks, I wonder. Am I going to have to try and form a guild on the PTR to test out those features? I certainly don't want to be clueless come patch day about how to set it up properly.
Addie Sep 27th 2007 4:59PM
@1 *nods* I think so, that's what I plan to do.
Stegho Sep 27th 2007 5:01PM
Nerfing weapon chain is absurd.
Todd Sep 27th 2007 5:06PM
I dunno, losing Detect Magic can be seen as a big deal. Especially a big PvP deal.
Preebs Sep 27th 2007 5:14PM
I do like the change to the AH though. 48 hour auctions FTW!
Paul Sep 27th 2007 5:14PM
@4, yeah but they're taking the spell away because everyone will be able to see beneficial spell effects.
think of it as blizz giving it to all classes instead of taking it away from mages
Paul Sep 27th 2007 5:29PM
and yeah, 48 hours auctions IS awesome. you can have your stuff posted all weekend whether you're there or not.
did the post mean that the price of the new 48 hour auctions will be the price of the old 24 hour auctions, or that they will increase proportionately? the wording on it is a bit confusing
Eliah Hecht Sep 27th 2007 5:32PM
I'm pretty sure he means that the new 48 will have the same price as the old 24.

No bro, all disarmament didn't turn into 50%, the Warrior talent that gives Warriors a maximum of 100% disarm was nerfed down to a 50% chance. All other disarms are unchanged unless you read different patch notes than I did. It said nothing about Riposte or any other disarm that I saw. :)
Eliah Hecht Sep 27th 2007 5:35PM
Genius Jones: All disarm *immunities* were changed to 50% (this was posted after the Warrior change).
Genius Jones Sep 27th 2007 5:36PM
Ya I just re-read that, you're right. I confused it with the warrior note about their nerf. Wow. I'm glad for this change.

via Bornakk:
"While this is a big change, there are ways around it as people are mentioning if they want to be immune. And if you aren't happy with the way the new talent functions, you can respec and find a home for 2 more talent points. :)"
Sounds to me like Steel Weapon Chain and Stonegrip Gauntlets will continue to work as a 100% immunity to disarm.

Token: What I posted above was a direct quote from Kalgan. Let me repost it here:
"I suppose Bornakk didn't mention it, but all disarm immunity effects in the game were changed to 50% disarm duration reduction (non stacking)."

I think he might stand to know ;)

Have they stated anything about the increased leveling in 2.3?
token Sep 27th 2007 6:11PM
dang :(
Sophey Sep 27th 2007 6:40PM
I love the Detect Magic change, no more will I have to beg, plead, grovel, and threaten my mages in raids to put it up on mobs that need it.
Sindral Sep 27th 2007 7:01PM
Sorting across all pages is genius, and about f_ing time! What about listing the crafting skill needed for recipes as a sortable value in the AH? I hate having to mouse over recipes to see if I can learn it or not. Or maybe there's a way to do this already?
Paul Sep 27th 2007 7:36PM
@17, not that i know of- it annoys the crap out of me too
my2cents Sep 27th 2007 8:13PM
@14 Yes, they did mention that in the forums. It's on a previous wowinsider post around here somewhere =)

Well, I have to admit, the recent warrior changes finally got me to go and cancel my account. I don't WANT to prot spec, and almost all of a warrior's abilities reside in having a weapon. So they're making it harder for non-prot to tank anything, because basically, if we get disarmed, we're left shuffling our feet while things run after the healer or DPSers because we just used our taunt and it's on CD but everyone else is still doing their massive damage. Do I think it really matters to Blizzard that I cancelled and Why? Nah. Sadly, I'm sure it doesn't. I'll be back for WOTLK to see if warriors have gotten any love by that time.
