One of the best (and funniest) PVP articles I've ever read

I'm not a PvP guy. People on the staff think I'm a PvP guy but I'm not. Why do people always assume rogues are PvP freaks? I don't know. Anyway. It's not to say I don't like a little bit of world PvP once in a while, but compared to some of the peeps who have more arena points than they have Air Miles, I am for all intents and purposes, a PvP noob.
Having said that though, I've been clutching my stomach for a good ten minutes and wiping away the tears of laughter after reading this epic post from Relmstein entitled Lessons Learned From Levelling On A PvP Server. While some of it is side-splittingly funny (yes I know I just invented a word), like all good comedy, it's funny because it's true!
If you're considering rolling on a PvP server (something I've tried and failed many times), you may want to print out this article and stick it on your wall. It could save your life!

A tip for Horde leveling on a PvP server:
Do all the quests in your starting area and into the followup non-contested area(s). Then head to Kalimdor and quest in the following zones in this order...
Barrens (10-25)
Stonetalon Mountains (15-27)
Ashenvale (18-30)
Thousand Needles (25-35)
Desolace (30-40)
Dustwallow Marsh (35-45)
Feralas (40-50)
Tanaris (40-50)
Aszhara (45-55)
Felwood (48-55)
Ungoro Crater (48-55)
Winterspring (55-60)
Moonglade (50-60)
Silithus (55-60)
You can also do any of the instances on this continent when you're the appropriate level if you want...
Ragefire Chasm (13-18)
Wailing Caverns (17-24)
Blackfathom Depths (24-32)
Razorfen Kraul (29-38)
Razorfen Downs (37-46)
Zul'Farrak (44-54)
Maraudon (46-55)
Dire Maul (55-60)
Onyxia's Lair (60)
If you get any quests that send you over to Eastern Kingdoms, don't do them unless it's a "deliver X to Y" type of quest and don't take any followups that keep you questing in Eastern Kingdoms.
I only take Eastern Kingdom quests when they are part of a longer chain that I am doing in Kalimdor, and only if they send me right back when I'm finished.
By following this strategy, you can totally avoid the major warzone areas in Tarren Mill and Stranglethorn Vale except for the occasional delivery quest.

eh, wasn't that funny.
Krick Sep 28th 2007 11:00AM
Oh, and forgot that you can safely do these Eastern Kingdom instances since they're in non-contested areas...
Shadowfang Keep (22-30)
Scarlet Monastery (34-45)

The article was mostly serious. Relmstein is a good blogger, but I don't think that article was that funny or was even intended to be more than occassionally mildly funny.

I can't read something when someone uses the wrong "your/you're." It's an illness I have. Other than that it was ok.
Tridus Sep 28th 2007 11:13AM
I'm still looking for the funny.

I was anticipating good laughs, and then I read that article. Not mildly humurous, just a list of PvP things. Then again, my guild calls the Gurubashi Arena home, so we know all about STV.
But, to help everyone out who wanted a good laugh, I'll give a better link. Just read the title, and you'll agree its the greatest website idea ever: www.igra.com
Enjoy.

I gave up on PVP servers when I was ganked at 36 by a 60 Tauren in Tier 2 while trying to catch a fish just outside of Ratchet.
But still, What IS funny is that pic above. Check out this link for the Stormwind Stampede

If you are lucky enough, at say level 33, to beat a twinked BE Paladin or Troll Rogue 4 levels below* you (level 29) who jumped you while you were engaged with multiple mobs, leave the area immediately. He is going to get his 70, bucause he is a f'ing juvie prick who can't stand to lose to anyone and he is going to teach you a lesson for not dying when he attacked you like the coward he is.
* Apply appropriate race/class combos to meet your experiences.

9) Stranglethorn Vale ought to be napalmed to flush out the million asshats that make that place home.
*Its kind of obvious but don't go here on the weekends, or during the day, or during a holiday. Honestly you're only going to be able to quest here between 4 and 7am in the morning.
How true! Article seems to be pretty right on.
Mal Sep 28th 2007 12:41PM
Yes, it wasn't that funny. But we all have a different sense of humor. It was a good read though.

Just to be a dick, I didn't find it funny at all.

Forgot about Crossroads, that place is always a warzone even on PvE servers, I'm sure it's glorious on PvP's
I played on a PvP server for a bit but went back to PvE because while I like the occasional PvP (mostly BG's and some World) I like it mostly voluntary, when I want to go kick some ass and die a lot, and when I want to just quest and grind, i can do so without asshat 70's killing me. I also suck at PvP compared to most. Someday I'll work on that.

I hate to be that guy, but this article was definitely not the first time I've heard or seen the word 'side-splittingly' used.
Marcus Sep 28th 2007 1:22PM
I leveled a warrior on Dark Iron(US) and I totally agree with the article when it talks about STV. That place needs to be wiped off them map. The one thing I would add to the article is this:
11) Make friends with as many people you can. You are less likely to be ganked when you travel and quest in a group. Sure, a single or group of 70s will wipe the floor with lower levels, but equal level players will probably leave you alone
Erica Olson Sep 28th 2007 1:43PM
I didn't find the article funny.
As to people saying where to "safely" level on a PvP server. Isn't that the point of rolling on a PvP server, to PvP. If you want to level and avoid PvP then roll on a PvE server, problem solved.
