Patch 2.3: some PvP cloaks please, with a Hunter melee weapon on the side
In one of the rarest turnarounds I've ever seen on the forums, a couple of posters made doom and gloom posts with titles like "Tom Chilton doesn't care about healer people!" -- apparently because the developers didn't make a special PvP cloak available in the game. So then Tom Chilton, posting as the fearsome lich Kalgan, comes right back at them and says "one PvP healing cloak, coming right up!" followed by, "would you like fries with that?"No that's not actually what he said... but close enough. He really said:
There's a PvP healing cloak in patch 2.3. The vital stats are...But one poster objected that spell crit wasn't as handy to healers as mana/5sec ... so he changed it!
34 stam
15 int
16 spell crit
23 resil
+51 healing / +17 spell dmg
Fair enough, the cloak now has 6 mana/5sec instead of the spell crit. Enjoy!I know. You're thinking, "if only every change was that easy," right? Actually, today it is. Read on...
There are several other new items coming up, too! First the DPS PvP cloaks:
Well here it is (also patch 2.3)!And finally, a melee weapon just for hunters:
Melee:
34 Stam
20 Crit
20 Resil
46 AP
112 Armor Penetration
Caster
34 Stam
15 Int
16 Spell Crit
23 Resil
+27 Spell Damage/Heal
Yes, there's a Vengeful Gladiator's WaraxeSome of you may be wondering why this kind of thing is just coming out now. Why didn't they add in more healer items earlier on?
62 Stam
46 Crit
33 Resil
15 Hit
92 AP
98 Armor Penetration
Cost: 1000 arena points (no rating requirement)
Early on we had a philosophy that we wouldn't put tanking gear or full sets of healing gear on the pvp vendors since at the time there were concerns that players would feel like it was advantageous to pvp in order to get gear to beat raid content.Yep. That's Blizzard admitting that their previous philosophy "sucked." Is this Blizzard finally opening up and immediately responding to player concerns? Or have these items actually been under development for a while, only now becoming open to the public? Does it matter, as long as there's sparkly treasure coming up in patch 2.3?
Turns out that philosophy mostly sucked (although we're holding onto the no-tanking gear part of it), so we fully itemize for healing in PvP gear now and rely on resilience to make it pvp-specific enough that it won't be considered ultimate raid gear.

Wow, the more i hear about 2.3, the more I'm finally thinking that blizzard is getting their $h!t together with this. I completely agree that they shouldn't be offering tanking gear, and it's nice to see that they're making healing a much more interesting bag of tricks with the new changes.

I am very glad, though, about the healing cape addition. People do heal in pvp, and I'm surprised they took so long to recognize that...

They are also adding a healie wand.

That kind of interaction with the community is what makes ya smile. It's kinda sad that they can throw all sorts of silliness your way and still turn you back into an excited fanboi with just one sentence. I hate you Blizzard, I hate you >:( damn you and your wily ways.

I wonder if I ask for a tac nuke arrow, I will get it also. Or an Armageddon spell that kills all enemies in the area? Or the instance? Or the region? Or the continent? Ah what the heck, just make me immune to all as well while we're at it!
Spoiled brats, the lot of them. Why boost everyone like that? Don't you understand that the more boosts you get, the faster WOW's gonna reach the day when there are no more boosts to give? It's fine as it is. And has been for quite some time now, even warlocks. Each class has its pro's and con's. Learn to live with them. Learn to play.

@7 - Yeesh, going overboard much? The lack of a healing PvP cloak was a glaring omission, it should have been fixed already. He's simply providing something which should have already been in the game. It's simple common sense.

It just goes to show that Blizzard has no love for the prot Warrior.

It seems very unfair. We'll allow DPS/healing classes to get better gear for their raiding via PVP but not tanks?? WTF?? How close minded is that?

I question any item designed "specifically for hunters" that lacks any +agility. Didn't they learn their lesson when Hunter T4 pieces had no Agi? Boo/hiss for this new weapon.

Really nice entry-level healing cloak. It should be easy enough to acquire and it has a heavy amount of stamina on it, nice enough to balance out the lack of it on the Primal Mooncloth set (if you chose to go that route).

Bummer, people had a lot of love mixing the two sets and getting double (2)+35 resilence.
