One place where I think most powerlevellers fail, is the reputation grind. Granted, I've only had a single character powerlevelled and that was pre-TBC, but when I logged on him for the first time at 60, I was somewhat disturbed to see that the character was only friendly with most of the horde factions & still neutral with Undercity.
If you're only having a character powerlevelled for you to use as a grind bot, it's not going to be that much of an issue, but if you intend to play it, being neutral/friendly with most factions is pretty much useless. So you're going to spend time running around doing quests, dungeons & RRQ's - and I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up taking just as long as levelling the char yourself.
I have a dwarf paladin coming up on 70 (halfway through 69 atm), and I'm currently exalted with all alliance factions except Exodar, whom I'm only 12k into revered with. I dare not guess how long it would get to get that far if my char had been powerlevelled.
