Patch 2.3: Let's play Gladiator Mix-n-match!
Tom Chilton is pretty busy this weekend talking with players about all the updated PvP items in Patch 2.3, and he's revealed another interesting new tidbit of information about coming changes to the Gladiator PvP sets earned from fighting in the arenas:As of patch 2.3 all items in the gladiator season 1, 2, and 3 sets will be part of the same set, so you can use those items interchangeably and keep the set bonuses (ie: you can wear the season 2 shoulders along with the season 3 helm, chest, legs) and retain the 4 piece set bonus. The separate sets for separate specs are going to stay the same, but now the set bonuses for each spec will be upgraded to work the same as the new 2 and 4-piece bonuses that are coming out, regardless of season. So for example, your class and spec's dps set bonus will work no matter which season your arena dps gear comes from. If I were an arena gladiator, I would be jumping up and down for joy right now. As it is, I still think that's pretty neat.
[edited for clarity -- the set bonuses will work between seasons, but not between different specs, so healing sets and dps sets won't combine together. Also, the arena season 1 gear will still be moved into the honor system once season 3 comes out]

Keep the +35 Resi (or boost it) and make the 4 peice bonus USEFUL :)

@1 - Totally depends on the class. As a paladin who already has 3 points in Imp HoJ, the 4 set bonus means I get a 6 sec ranged stun (10 yds anyway) every 35 secs. I find that VERY useful.

Of course, this means that the arena set bonuses will never get changed to give them some variety... Only the stats will get upgraded.

*spit take*
That's AWESOME.

This is awful.
I (and many others) very intentionally have 2 pieces s2 damage gear and 3 pieces s2 healing gear, as I then get +70 resil (2 bonuses).
Way better than priests 4 piece bonus...

"The separate sets for separate specs are going to stay the same, but now all their set bonuses will be upgraded to work the same as the new 2 and 4-piece bonuses that are coming out."
wait wait wait this isn't right. Kalgan says:
"
-----------------------
The different specs are still going to be different sets though, no?
------------------------
Correct, different specs are different sets."
Thus, I *will* be able to stack dual +resil, using 3 piece healing and 2 piece damage. The change is, if I have 1 piece s2 healing and 3 pieces s1 healing, I then get the healing 4 piece bonus.
Crazy bloggers...

Does this mean that Arena season 1 wont be becoming the new PVP Honor set?

Anyone have a cite for this claim? I dug around the forums a bit and could not find a blue reference stating this as fact. I AM very excited about it if true.
I'm 100% banking points from the fast AV matches until this comes to fruition.

Now let's hope they can make new sets that don't LOOK ridiculous when mix-n-matched

i think they should definitely buff the balance druid arena set bonus (cause reduce mana cost of moonfire by 10%) isnt worth it....
the bonus on balance druids gloves are the dumbest thing i have ever seen.... like that 1 sec reduction to cast time on cyclone even changes anything...

I know that S1 Arena gear is going to the regular Honor system. Question is, has anyone seen pricing for the gear yet??

So once again, only Warlocks have 2 DPS sets and are able to stack 3/5 and 2/5 so that they have a +70 resilience boost? Well done Blizzard.

Good news for classes with vital 4pc set bonuses (HI WARRIORS), bad news for resilience dependant classes (HI PRIESTS).
Sure, they say they're re-doing the 4pc bonuses for some classes, but I'm not confident that they'll give every class a 4pc bonus that is better than an extra 35 resilience.
