Brewfest hangover starts early for Blizzard
Players hailed Brewfest with great anticipation, but all is not well in the land of pints and pretzels. Many bugs slipped through the very short Public Testing phase and onto the live servers. From QA Hortus:
We are aware of the following issues:
We are aware of the following issues:
- Some players can not get the Pink Elekks quest. This is caused by a mismatch with another quest, we are working on a hotfix for this issue.
- Corben Barleybrew is not spawning in Black Rock Depths This appears to be due to a misconfiguration on the servers and is being investigated.
- Unable to loot Brewfest Samplers We are aware of this issue a working on a fix.

They have already fixed the pink elekks quest.

I don't think this is a problem from testing, as I understand, the development goofed on how they handled updates on servers which is causing all this chaos.

How bout the barking quests? have they fixed those yet?
Izbay Oct 3rd 2007 4:07PM
I was level 70 and mystically COULD do the Elekk quest. So they hotfixed it, and I could do it again! I'm up to 300 tickets now! Halfway to my mount B-)

on Medivh it looks like they fixed the Eelek quest, but the Barker quest is still bugged.

lets hope the Dev's quit drinking when programming in the future.:)

@4: 300 tickets? Seriously... get a life :P
On my realm the Elekks are fine, BRD is fine, nut the bark quests are not working at all, when people spam their bark macros. Doh.
... hic !

I've yet to meet someone on my server (Aerie Peak, EU) who can complete the 'Bark' quests. There are people doing /bark next to the flags, while running past the flags, while targeting the Commoners standing nearby, while targeting each other, and even yelling the word "BARK!" or other Brewfest-related words in an attempt to make it work. It's near-impossible to stand in Ironforge and try to read your messages; they're upscrolled into oblivion.
All you're supposed to do is run past the flags, and your character automatically 'barks'. However, that isn't happening, and the /1 channel is going nuts as a result.
Still, I got 74 tickets today. Some daily quests (and doing the Dark Iron invasion event in the early hours when no-one can steal my 'kills') should get me that mount by the end of the event.

@3 What was wrong with those? Aside from a pretty short timer.
Dahkeus Oct 3rd 2007 4:33PM
Yup, further proof that no matter how many time and/or resources are provided, human beings along with all their creations are still prone to error. So it goes.

Only one small problem w/ brewfest.
Way, way too many people just outside orgrimmar. If you do not have a very reliable connection, you will be disconnected.
Although, I did get disconnected after I got completely smashed, so maybe my character was just a little too drunk =p

"I heard a lot of people complain how long Patch 2.2 was on the PTR. These Brewfest bugs are what happens when new content isn't given enough time in the testing phase."
Dont push that as if it was the complainer's fault. Blizz took too much time for 2.2 and was short on schedule for Brewfest, because Brewfest HAS to be at the start of October, to coincide with Oktoberfest.
It's blizz's own fault if they were late "to the party". The players did not rush blizz to release brewfest, for a simple reason... Players cannot control the date of the oktoberfest.

Bark quest was still bugged for Horde on Emerald Dream (EU) when I logged @ 11pm (GMT). The other quests (BRD, Elekks, the rabbit things and non-barking Ram quests) were all working fine.
Hope they fix it sooner rather than later. 2 hours for 2 spawns of dark iron dwarves netted me 23 tickets.
Note, if you are just after tickets you can forget the BRD quest. You just get a tankard.

These are mostly deployment configuration bugs. This could have been on the PTR for a year and these bugs still would have occured.

"These Brewfest bugs are what happens when new content isn't given enough time in the testing phase."
Ah, no, these bugs happen in Live when the same bugs reported in PTR aren't fixed. You could have given 2.2.2 6 months on PTR and if they don't fix the reported bugs, then the same problems on Live would have happened.
Sorry, but I do testing as part of my job, and basic crap like this should not have 'slipped through'. D/Cing due to too many people in a small area, D/Cing due to spammed emotes, these are nothing new. These problems have been around since Alpha, these are not problems that would not have fixed by having 2.2.2 on the PTR longer. Shoddy QA work is what this was.
