2.2.3 on the PTR
Looks like we got a little ahead of ourselves. Before we see 2.3 on the PTRs, we're going to see 2.2.3, a small patch that is supposed to bugfix a lot of the sound problems that players are having. Patch notes are complete below, and I'm betting that if the Kael event isn't fixed yet, a fix for that will also be included in this patch. We can only hope that we'll see a small PTR appearance for 2.2.3 (so test it extra fast, folks), and then the gloriousness of 2.3 will grace us with its presence.PTR 2.2.3 Patch Notes
- Clients utilizing OpenGL video modes will no longer experience graphical anomalies and missing textures after minimizing/maximizing the window.
- Fixed an issue that caused Fel Eye Stalks during the Legion Ring event to not despawn when the event is completed.
- Fixed an issue where zoning after mounting and summoning a pet was disconnecting players.
- Fixed an issue where the Shift key would get stuck in game.
- Using a /equip macro while affected by certain crowd control spells will no longer cause the items in the macro to be stuck in your inventory.
[ via MMO Champion ]
- Using very low values for SetScale() will no longer cause Mac users to disconnect from the game.
- Default sound channels have been changed from 12 to 32.
- Microphone resources will no longer be claimed by World of Warcraft when Voice Chat is disabled.
- Sounds will no longer stutter and pause if large amounts of creatures are being hit with AoE attacks from multiple sources.
- Sounds caused by spells cast on or by the player will now play more consistently.

"Fixed an issue where the Shift key would get stuck in game."
OMG THANK YOU. I thought I was just freaking out or something, but apparently not! This has been so annoying! It has totally borked my keybindings and somtimes I cant even loot things. I even did the "delete your WTF folder blah blah blah" thing but it still did it in the default UI lol.
YAY!

Guys, if your keys are getting stuck, try hitting the right shift key once. I read it helps, and i've heard of it working in my guild.

Shift key was a big problem for me too. I thought it was sticky keys and was trying to change those settings. I was supposed to heal a rogue while pvping for halaa and i couldn't turn right with keys because shift+D was SW:D. 8-(

You make it sound like people actually care about the bugs on the PTR's. Here's a Newsflash: They Don't.
The only thing getting "tested" on the "Test Realms" are how new speccs work in PvP and to see how large an epeen you can grow from wearing the items you get there.
With a minor patch like this, I doubt anything useful will be reported at all before it goes live. Blizz might as well slap on the new patches without the prior testing.

What about the broken voice chat? It is completely unusable for many players due to the poor audio codec. The input mic volume is so low to hear anything anyone says (including yourself), you have to turn your speakers WAY up so that any other sound is deafening. This is a "known issue" listed on the tech support forums regarding 2.2 problems.

I hope this fixes the sound issued that made it impossible for me to play on linux.
A week and I'm already sick of putting up with Vista again.

I can only imagine the WoW programers working triple overtime what with fixing bugs introduced with 2.2, Brewfest bugs, 2.2.3 PTR bugs and doing new work for 2.3 all at the same time. Probably why we are seeing more new bugs than fixes.

yea i started the thread with the sift key on the forums, took a while to get it ackowledged, but im glad they are at least attempting to fix it.. ill have to hop on the PTRs tonight to see if they figured it out.

What codec is the voice chat using anyways?
Seems like someone messed up and used speex or whatever the one that works on mac Ventrilo is... Gah I hate that codec so much

I noticed that when I am AOE grinding on my pally the sound would stutter like the first sound would be interrupted by a similar sound, guess that was a result of the channels being limited to 16?

The Shift thing keeps happening to me too (and when it happens I'm also unable to jump for some reason) but everytime I'm able to fix it by simply hitting alt+tab and then going back to WoW. Hope that works for u guys too =)

Way to keep up on info, Mike. That's already been hotfixed.

I use my arrow keys a lot for running and backing up for Prot AOE Grinding. The shift key + arrow keys were causing my main action bar to switch pages. I don't use action bar pages so all my spells would disappear every time I tried to back up!
Why aren't I healing?
Why aren't I consecrating?
Why can't I attack?
Why can't I use judgement?
Where is my bubble?
Why can't I use blessing of protection so save someone's life?
OH. It's because ALL MY BUTTONS ARE GONE THANKS TO THIS STUPID SHIFT KEY!!!!
I eventually unbound anything related to the shift key and it seems to work now.
