Forum Post of the Day: Refreshment not so refreshing?
Nerfed is unhappy about the idea of the Ritual of Refreshment, the one announcement that came out of BlizzCon that sent me into a personal state of rapture. As he sees it, allowing players to pick and choose their water is cumbersome and redundant. Luckily Drysc has come to the rescue with some refinement on what the spell will actually entail:Ritual of Refreshment gives Manabiscuits, which restore 7500 health and 7200 mana over 30 seconds. It's just about making life a bit easier for the mage, now everyone can grab what they want. We're not attempting to or currently buffing the water/food you would normally conjure.
Mana biscuits are delicious little items that I used to spend an unhealthy amount of scourgstones on back before the Expansion was released. Knowing that the Ritual of Refreshment will have this simple but effective sustenance for my party not only makes me happy, it also makes me a bit nostalgic for those days of grinding Argent Dawn rep. But I digress.
It seems that there is only good news coming about this particular spell, although I would love to see a little improvement in the amount of mana the ritual provides. After all, there are three types of healthstones available from a warlock's soulwell, aren't there?

Only if you have 3 differently-talented warlocks. The only reason you get multiple ones is because the UI sees 0/2, 1/2, and 2/2 talented stones as different items. Since they all share the same cooldown, Blizz never saw a need to "fix" this.

here is hoping they make it unique up to 20 especially if there are charges for it. i can imagine some idiot who will take all the charges to be an a'hole or somebody who keeps mashing b/c of a little lag and then ends up taking them all.

Unique 20?
I personally give everyone at least 40 usually 60 because it's better to drink for 3 seconds between pulls than not at all and I expect them to burn through that water...

Unique 20 doesn't limit the number of times you can perform the ritual of refreshment. We can easily drop the refreshment well whenever a caster has exhausted their supply, and everybody can refresh their stacks.

There are a few things I'd like to see with this new spell:
1. It doesn't cost reagents. I don't want to waste more money and another slot in my bag just to conjure something I can do for free. Some may say what about AB compared to AI. Thats completely different since the buff duration is much longer.
2. Like someone else said, if those manabiscuits are unique up to say 10 or 20, im not interested. I give people 60 water before raid because I expect them to drink it after every pull or buff. I don't want to be conjuring these things every 10 minutes - especially if they cost reagents.
3. Please make it look like a water cooler! I don't care how mad the RPers will be. I would overlook points 1 and 2 if they did that.

How about an Easy Bake Oven?

Goddamn, people will complaing about ANYTHING won't they?
Making water and food is a pretty tedious thing for a mage IMO, I'm LOVING the idea of a soulwell for food/water, and I don't care if it costs a reagent. I don't mind that it "only" does the same amount of health/mana as a normal mana or health pot, since it looks like it does BOTH AT THE SAME FREAKIN TIME.
Seriously, find something that's actually bad to complain about. This has no bad points at all whatsoever.

Mages have a reputation for being the class that, on a whole, complain the most.
Have they earned it?
Melenor Oct 4th 2007 5:45PM
@5: you KNOW it's going to use a reagent.
I give people 60 water at the beginning too - that means, for Karazhan, if I'm the only mage (which is common), I spend 10 minutes beforehand making about 500 water. -_-
Memzer Oct 4th 2007 7:44PM
I've been the only mage at a Karazhan raid as well. Making 40 Food/Water really does take a while to do and it has been even worse of late with all the server instability, re-summoning food and water for a whole raid because the server has gone down can be rather frustrating.

However note that 2.3 says:
All battlegrounds will have a "free" buff period before the start of battle and briefly after being resurrected by the Spirit Guide, like the Arena.
So this means your ritual shouldn't cost you a regent if you do it before a PvP battle?

Personally, I'm elated that this is going to be added!
FYI, it's manna biscuit; not mana biscuit. :)

@11
That is awesome news.....now people won't (shouldn't) be afraid to buff the entire raid before the BG starts. PW:F? Yes please!

Now make mana gems cost less, give more, and be tradeable.
Then add a mana well, where everyone can click and get one.
Then, I will have no more gripes about a mages extraneous abilities.
