Breakfast Topic: Favorite type of PvP
My first and only taste of PvP was the outdoor variety. The old Tarren Mills/Southshore dance. It was chaotic and horribly unbalanced and immensely fun. I haven't progressed to more formal forms of PvP, but it got me thinking lately about the different ways players enjoy combat against each other. That leads me to ask: what is your favorite form of PvP and why? Old school outdoor PvP for chaotic tag and run? Arenas for the emphasis on skill? Battlegrounds for the variety and challenge? Outlands outdoor PvP for occasional PvP fun during while soloing? Or just straight up PvP servers where you never know when your next ganking is going to materialize from behind or come blazing toward you from afar?

Three days after Ravenholdt opened my guild, Solanum, led an epic 40 man World PvP raid against the tyrannical town of Lakeshire.
It was glorious, because nobody on the server was any higher than level 25.

Battlegrounds have provided me with many satisfying PVP moments:
-coming back from a 0-2 deficit in WSG (probably the best, since it takes great teamwork to accomplish, and you sense the other team getting increasingly panicked each time you score)
-fending off attacks on AB nodes when you're outmanned
-stunning the other raid's tank long enough for your general to wipe their raid
As a rogue, world PVP certainly involves a lot of devious activity on my part, but it has also been fun. The best is killing another rogue or a druid, then waiting for them to try and get you back. In Outlands, I like to kill the lower-levelled Ally out of a pair while they're fighting a strong unique.

So you ganked a noob town where no one could touch you, and it was glorious?
Your girlfriend left you for a real man, didn't she?

A PvP server, with random ganking and getting-ganked is the way to go for me. However I really like battlegrounds too.
Oh, I also enjoy stealthing into Crossroads and killing the innkeeper and all the merchants and questgivers, too.

Huge fan of Battlegrounds for my PvP goodness.
Mainly because I don't have enough gear to make Arenas work just yet. I don't do horribly, but I sense that I'm being beaten mostly because I can't take the 2 second Focus Fire barrage at the start of the match. If I had 2-3k more stamina I think I'd be OK. Anyway... Yeah, BGs are where it's at for me.

A little game called "I saw the rich adamantite node first!".

PVP in all its forms of glory/doom is what makes warcraft playable, its not the team work, the mundane hours spent questing and farming, its equipping the fatest, slowest, sweetest 2H sword I can and landing a white crit, sword proc, and mortal strike and dropping mages before they had enough time to blink.

Major event PVP. Do you know how much fun it is to camp enemy childrens week targets? You feel like the lawgiver!

AV is the best because it does take a good deal of team work.
Arena is not based on skill, its based on being cheap and using obstacles. I have no problem dying repeatedly if its a head on fight. I do have issues when I am forced to chase a character around that is using cheap tactics like bogus line of sight issues.
