Is Brewfest easier for Alliance?
Yozozo claims on the forums that he is able to complete 17 keg runs for the Alliance version of the There and Back again quest for Brewfest and is backed up by others who say they complete an average 15 keg runs per attempt. On the Horde side, 11 to 13 seems to be the average for the high achievers. I've run the quest on both factions, and it does seem easier on the Alliance side even though the Horde version has more apple barrels. Is it shorter? Is there a better time bonus? Are the goblins wearing Dwarf masks a handicap? Or is it just perception?
I definitely think the Barker quests are easier on the Alliance side. The Ironforge course is in a complete circle without any backtracking and you can jump down the mountain a bit to cut the circuit short at the end. You have to backtrack a little in Orgrimmar and there is no shortcut to the Horde quest-givers.
What is your opinion? Is there an Alliance bias for the Brewfest quests or are the Horde just worse at motivating Rams?

Personally Horde seems easier for me but I don't believe I get 17 rounds in, I'll try it in a bit and see what I get but I do believe I get around 15 at least. The trick for horde is to just mash your whip and go as fast as possible all the way down to the barrel hidden behind that hill, get barely close enough to the goblin for him to give you the keg, run back to the same barrel and run straight to the turn-in, hit the barrel near there and repeat, so you're only hitting 2 apple barrels but it's a straight shot but that plan has NO room for error so if you mess up once your whole plan will be screwed.

It sounds like it probably is a little bit easier for the Alliance. No big deal though. I play Horde, and I think that having a little harder time getting tickets is an ok price to pay for getting what is basically an alliance mount. I'm all for balance between factions, but is this really worth complaining about?
Chuck Oct 8th 2007 4:07PM
Why does this even matter?
Todd Oct 8th 2007 4:08PM
John is right, for the sake of getting an Alliance mount, Hordies shouldn't be whining.

There's a video circulating, with a Hordie getting 144 Tickets in one keg run. So either he's a god, or the keg run is slightly easier for Horde. Link here:

I am serious about getting that ram mount (as horde) and my best keg deliver record has been about 7 - 8 deliveries.
innajunglestylee Oct 8th 2007 4:17PM
@5
Yes, because a video of somebody using a raid and 2 locks to summon him between the pick up and drop off points is clearly evidence of a faction specific buff. WIth all due respect, did you even watch the video?
Paul Oct 8th 2007 4:23PM
Whoa, i thought my 11 barrels a run on alliance was badass- most people i've seen racing don't realize you can go to the apple barrle beyond the keg thrower and stay at a full gallop the whole time, which was how i was able to get that many.
But form the video that I saw it looks almost like an exploit. Someone found the limit of where the keg thrower would notice you, crossing over that line and just turned around, having them throw it to you finally when you were almost halfway back.
Either way I'm going to start doing that!

@5 Now THAT is a creative use of in-game mechanics!
That's (counting the barker quest) 300 tickets a day.
Awesome for them!
Seline Oct 8th 2007 4:28PM
for the barrows, it's about the same. On alliance I get 30-33 tix, and horde about 27-30 tix. to get that many, both require only passing 2 apple barrows. Just practice and skill. :)
@5 & 6 lol that is awesome. I need to go bribe our guild warlock now... =P

@#6/innajunglestylee
I watched it, but couldn't tell wtf he was doing, besides clicking a button. I'm about to watch the high-quality version. I recant my statement.
innajunglestylee Oct 8th 2007 4:31PM
Fair enough -- there's just so much QQ over Alliance/Horde has this/that easier that my hackles got raised immediately.
For those who haven't watched the video, since the keg delivery is not a quest but is instead a buff, you can complete it in a raid. The orc in the video got 2 locks and 4 other friends who position themselves at the drop off and delivery point for the quest. He gets the buff, gets a summon, picks up barrel, gets a summon and so on until the quest's built in timer (apparently 15 mins) shuts him down. 144 kegs x 3 tickets each = yowza.

OMG WOW Insider perpetuates the stupidest freaking rumors.
Maybe Horde players just need to try a little harder and stop bitching so much.
Hooper Oct 8th 2007 4:36PM
@12
Maybe Alliance players should be prepared for WoW2: World of Trollcraft
Whistor Oct 8th 2007 4:58PM
Horde side, a very good run for me is 11 turnins, I average 10 and could see 12 if I hit everything perfect. Part of the problem is how close to the barrel-thrower to get and how close for the turnin. I have ridden right over the little freak and the keg never got turned in. Also not getting rid of fatigue as you ride past a barrel will kill you as well. I find it tedious so I keep it simple and shoot for 30 tickets on both runs so 100 tickets a day.
Max Oct 8th 2007 4:58PM
What do you know...the Horde complaining again.
See you bitches in Alterac. Peace.
dekulink Oct 8th 2007 5:03PM
Horde get an Alliance mount, pretty much. Stop complaining :)
Juliah Oct 8th 2007 5:37PM
Look, it works from a roleplaying standpoint: Ironforge is very experienced in handling rams, seeing as how that's the Dwarven racial mount.
Matthew Rossi Oct 8th 2007 5:40PM
Also, from the moment you ride past the last flag, you're done with the barking quest. You can dismount from the quest ram and get on your ordinary mount right there and ride back down, it doesn't matter. So dropping down the mountain to cut time off doesn't change anything, as you were done the second you rode past the last flag.

I have been doing this on my alliance toon and my horde toon, I fell once in IF but since IF is just a circle I made it with time to spare. Origmar is laid out in a curved oval and I barely make it each time, but I might be doing something wrong.
It seemed easier doing the run in IF though.
