Life after Warcraft for one of its most venerable podcasts
There are a lot of good World of Warcraft podcasts out there, including our own. There are a few though that are really considered pioneers, and I think Taverncast is probably one of them. Despite their extremely erratic production schedule, they've been around longer than most and the quality of their production has always been top-shelf.Yesterday, they released their final "exclusively" WoW-themed podcast. Eloy explains in his blog that several changes in the lives of the cast have brought about this change, most notably that only one of them still plays the game on a regular basis.
The podcast will continue though, it will just be less WoW-centric. As one of their long-time fans, I know they will continue to rock with whatever content they choose to focus on.
Finally, on a personal note to Infernal Bill, Cromley, Eloy, and Kirnkaterre... I hope you enjoyed the voicemail I left for you. It comes with love from one of your Canadian fans. (You'll have to listen to TC32 to understand the Canadian connection.)

Speaking of podcasts, The Instance, at http://theinstance.net is very good as well. ;)

This was not a big surprise it did seem according to their blogs that they were getting sick of the game anyways.

Yeah this is a sad day, the production value of these podcasts were by far the best out there.
I will miss you Taverncast.

Hello! Is it just me or this is very poor and completely unappropriate negative marketing?
Instead of saying "this is the last podcast with only WoW content" they shld say something like: From now on: New and improved content! Added themes!
I really don't see anything to be sad about.

@1 - Typical Instance fanbois won't be denied a chance to promote their podcast even on the comment page about another's demise aye? :P /spit on that.
Sad to see a popular and well produced podcast close it's doors. They were I must say, not my cup of tea. Too casual to actually discuss the topics they tried to deal with properly (causing such incidents as the unintentionally hilarious 'We had our hunter respec Wyvernsting so we could tranq Magmadar' gaff). That said, losing a good quality podcast is always a blow to the community, so in that respect, I'll miss them.

I'd just like to reiterate we're not actually "closing our doors" - we've got #33 record, and we're recording #34 this weekend (hopefully)...
We're just leaving WoW behind as our sole topic. And anyone who's listened to our shows has probably noticed (and possible complained) that we rarely stay on topic anyways...

Welcome back! Glad to see our own shift away from WoW was so inspiring to you. I trust we are properly credited? :)

@4 To have an item about this cast shows the depth of respect, feeling and fondness for this podcast. Something I have never felt for WoW radio. Empire building doesn't impress me and for all TB's comments about 'quality' on various forums over the years I have still yet to listen to a WoW radio show that has made me want to tune in again next week.
I love the WoW Insider site and all the columns but as a podcast it just doesn't have the rapport that really good casts have. but that's just my 2c.
I'm off to listen to the BBC they have 'quality' dirty old men. :P

To make it a well rounded commentary of WoW podcasters and producers of WoW related audio programming, I too will miss Taverncast, which is actually the first WoW podcast I listened to, and made me want to bring my old radio show back to life in podcast form. *raises a drink to the Taverncast hosts* I will remain a loyal listener until you kill me with my own laughter!

Very sad to see 'em go as being fully WoW Themed. This was one of only 2 podcasts on WoW that I actually enjoyed.
Oh well, there's still the Instance. Despite it's short comings (A rather clueless main host, mainly) it's still the most enjoyable one out there.
Bye bye, WoW themed Taverncast. I will always remember the drunken Dwarves singing "My heart will go on" with a skip in my step and smile on my face. /curl up into a ball and cry.
