The dark legacy of engineering mounts
More good news for engineers everywhere! Those clever gnomes over at Dark Legacy have figured out what the engineering mount should look like, and they've told us the whole story about how they came up with the idea for designing it. Next, they should really design some more trinkets and bombs and other gadgety items for us to use!... or should they?

20% failure rate? I'm so down with that. I hope the explosion looks awesome!

har! I love it! nothing says zero-tolerance engineering like a ka-boom to the human tester

Interesting idea, although I don't think people would want to have to swap out their helm each time they want to mount up. And people definitely don't want their mount failing 20% of the time.
I'm pretty sure it's going to look like one of the classic Gnomish Flying Machines. I just hope they're pedal-powered.

Slightly increased mount speed with a chance to stall on start up, say 3 seconds of being unable to move, that would be cool

I would be happy with a plane. That would be nice if it came with bombs you could buy or do strafing runs. And i figure 20% is pretty good. But i am goblin engineering because "If you cared about survival you should have went gnomish"

Anything Miji's behind, I'm behind too.
Mostly because I'm scared of having my back to him.

I like the first one in their comic - the Rocket Mount. Here is how it would work: taking off in it would be no problem and would work like every other mount in the game. Landing however would present a problem though, I mean obviously *its a rocket!* and would explode upon landing (20% of the time, and causing a small amount of damage to the player) or it would be a "dud" and just embed itself into the ground. Either way there would be a 10-minute cooldown until you "take off" on it again.
It would also be cool if after an exploding landing you would get a "blackface" debuff that would last an hour, similar to the Evil Twin debuff you get from the transporters.

When I saw that, one word came to mind. Gadgetcopter. I'd LOVE it!

Engineers are still waiting for some BC content that matters. I'm glad to see that when Blizzard said that it would review Engineering first, it meant in the next expansion.
/bailed out after BC

Failing mid flight would be fun, and give us an excuse to equip the parachute cloak.

It's gonna have to be a 1 man gyrocopter of some sort. Just like in the game, and you have to admit, that would be sweet to have.
Babyeeter Oct 8th 2007 8:09PM
All I can say about the failure rate is why do you think they reduced the cooldown on the parachute cloak to 30 seconds? Gotta make sure I equip it before I mount up on my new plane/rocket/other device prone to failure.
I love engineering. It makes life interesting.

Come on now... there is a 0% failure rate on the Mechanostrider... These were made by the "engineers" too. I vote for a 0% failure rate on the engineer flying mounts. Stalling, sputtering, exploding is only 'fun' for the first few time. After that, we just want it to work.

While i wont dispute the awesomeness of having a little gyrocopter, it still rather annoys me that it is in effect only decorative. It still dosnt add any utility to engineering. Sure there are goggles and and a tank gun now, but that's it, where's the engineering equivalents of the tailoring BOP items like Spellfire.
