Dark Iron attacks finished for the year
It's sad, but true -- the Dark Iron Dwarf attacks that I certainly considered to be the most entertaining aspect of this year's Brewfest event are gone for the duration of the holiday. CM Vaneras tells us the bad news:
They have successfully been driven back for the remainder of this year's Brewfest holiday, but we've intercepted communique being transferred within their spy network, and they are recouping their losses with plans to return next year with an even greater presence.
However, the rest of the Brewfest celebrations are continuing until next Tuesday -- with barking quests and keg delivery quests, you still have a chance get enough tickets to win fabulous prizes.

"greater presence"
I think its safe to say, that next year the Dark Iron Dwarves won't just appear outside of Orgrimmar, but instead most or all faction cities to prevent the lag fest that was experienced on high population servers.

I wonder if the 16th will be "teardown" and therefore the quests/prizes will be on unavailable that day. Anyone know?

I agree with #2 that happens a lot. Plan to finish up on Monday the 15th just in case.
Lios Oct 10th 2007 9:04AM
@Rao: They already did. They appear at all those little brewfest tents where you find the Ellek's. It's just that (almost) nobody knew...

Bummer, but not unexpected.
It's understandable why Blizzard can't bring the attacks back, but it does irritate me a little that they couch the 'reason' in fluff-related terms, instead of just 'fessing up and saying that they can't get it running in a manner they're happy with in time for the end of Brewfest.

Got my Swift Brewfest Ram for my tauren shaman this morning before work! Brewfest a success for me (a chronic mount collector)

almost up to 400 tickets now... just a few more days and i'll be riding my ram off into the outlands.
as someone who missed the dark iron attacks, i've been only able to get about 60 tickets a day which will make getting to 600 a bit tight but as long as i don't miss any days i should be fine. i just have to make sure i have the 100 gold available for the purchase.

i never got a chance to do any dark iron attacks when they were still doing them, but im up to 554 tickets. i think i'll make it!
the BRD quest was the most fun though. as a 69 rogue, soloing and stealthing through to the NPC was fun :) did that one reward tickets or just the dark iron tankard? i forget

Blizzard fails.

@6 - they're not trying to "fluff" it up - they're trying to be "less technical" about it, to be slightly humorous about it, but everyone knows it's technical.

I think they should have dropped the ticket limit for the mounts after that.
Saying that since you can repeat one quest every 12 hours is NOT a big help for anyone with a day job whose boss would not be understanding about you coming in late..

Dumb, just dumb. they fixed the /wave emote problem yesterday, so what is the excuse for no Dark Irons. Just because a few peoples crappy computers were crashing isn't good enough resaon to cancel.
Dark Iron attacks were the only things that made you feel part of the event. They MADE Brewfesr what it was...now its just a drunken grind.
The music is nice though

Next Tuesday? Hell, I still have enough time to get the mount. Already have the portable keg and the goggles. Luckily, I was able to get the Dark Iron Dwarves quest in time and hit up BRD for the off-hand stein.
Todd Oct 10th 2007 10:46AM
Whoo.
Heilig Oct 10th 2007 11:15AM
@4
Screenshots or it didn't happen. There were no brewmasters in the other cities to toss you your mugs, so what were you supposed to throw at the dwarves?
Anyway, it's not like this is huge deal. With the attacks, I had 400 tickets the first day, and anybody who can't pull another 100 a day from the remaining quests is doing it wrong. I have everything the Brewfest has to offer and still have 300 tickets left over. The atacks were a ton of fun, but not necessary to acquire the prizes.
JMCampbell Oct 10th 2007 11:33AM
Can you still do the BRD part of the quest or is that done as well?
I already have the quest just haven't ran it yet.

I was so excited about Brewfest, but after all the problems and my inability to navigate Org, I gave up.

I now have over 600 tickets after buying a pony keg, but I'm really not sure if I want the ram mount any more, i mean 100g?! my horse gets me there just as fast.
I'm thinking about just holding onto the tickets for next year in hope that they have some 1000 ticket prize that i can buy almost immediately.
If you're still trying to get to 600, you should be at least at 300 by now, and you can still make it with a 12 minute, once a night comittment. 40 tickets for barking once a day, and at least another 30 (i can get up to 45, some have gotten 51) from keg delivery.
The key (at least for alliance) is to stay at a full gallop from the quest giver, passing over the bridge, and then by the apples to recharge. Continue hitting your reigns to stay at a full gallop, and cut over the hill on the way to the keg tosser instead of following the road. Stop hitting your reigns right when you get down from the little hill on to flat ground.
Keep heading toward the keg thrower, but turn around when you get to the 2nd big white pillar of the building on your right, don't wait for him to throw you a keg. It will still register if you did it right, and your keg will get thrown to you about half way back to the barrel of apples.
Having stopped hitting your reigns a while ago, you should drop down to the yellow trot at about 80 or 85 energy used, so just keep it at a trot until you get back to the original barrel of apples, recharge, then get back to a full gallop to turn in the keg, turn around, and you will have enough energy left over to stay at a gallop until you get back to the apple barrel on your next run.

I'm still crossing my fingers hoping for the mount. As I already have enough mounts (just got the Talbuk over the weekend), I opted instead for the Brewfest Regalia, Boots, Hat, Keg & Goggles. Those, combined with the dual tankards/steins looks pretty cool. Made Kara my own little brewery last night. On top of buying all those, I'm anticipating 600 tickets by Monday or Tuesday, so I will most likely end up dropping 100g on the mount just to complete the set.
Theadrick Oct 10th 2007 3:05PM
To me the mount is only worth it for Horde. I can get a ram fairly easily with any of my Alliance toons if I so desire (AV anyone?? )
