The challenge of recruiting for farmed content

But what if you're recruiting for farmed content? Sara is facing exactly that situation, and she wonders if her guild will be able to find good people now that they're about to finish off all the content in the game. They're expecting loss and attrition (because some people only like to raid progress, and have no interest in farming content beyond their own needs), and trying to bring new people into a guild that's already done everything. Will they only be able to find folks in it for their own loot, or will they bring interested, knowledgeable raiders willing to do the work for the rewards?
Hopefully they'll be able to weed out the "omglootz" people from the casual raiders and the other folks interested in seeing the endgame content. There's no question that running farmed content is not nearly as demanding (and that's why some people don't like it as much) as progressing a raid, but that doesn't mean that anyone wants to take on a raid full of loot whores only bent on scoring their next Epic.

Not everyone plays for the same reason. I play strictly for PVP, and only PVE as a means to PVP better. I have tried PVE raid progression guilds, and it is simply not for me. I don't like to be labeled a loot whore just because I only PVE farmed content so that I can PVP better.

My guild is just starting Kara. I am almost 50th level. Figure by the time I get to 70 and ready for Kara, it'll be on farm status. Will there be enough folks to go through it with me? Hopefully. I am saddened by the fact that I won't get to see some of the old world instances.

Im only doing PVE to get gear for PVP, It kills me to lose against someone just because they have better gear than me, also the lore can be interesting.

I don't think the plight of people effortlessly farming end-game content like Black Temple and Hyjal is something to be sympathetic about. That's the summit of the game right now, and they've reached it... boo-hoo, let me wipe your tears. There's plenty of people clawing tooth and nail just for any opportunity to zone into Karazhan in a capable raid group, and you can't find a bunch of hungry, reliable raiders to re-engineer another 25-man group?
To me, this is as ridiculous as feeling sorry for a bored millionaire. Why not use your uber gear and strong strategies to uplift the hundreds of quality players you'll find all over every server 10 or 15 at a time. You don't have to sub in 1 spot at a time and make it easy for them to get their purples - make them do the work to "get there."
If you're tired of the easy grind and miss "old times", give yourself a challenge - split your 25-man killteam in half and bring your less-geared, very hungry but still skilled and reliable server-mates in to see some amazing content they never thought they'd get a chance to be involved in. Let their wonder and glee at seeing something new amuse you.
Run your regular group every other week if you're so tired of DEing all that wonderful gear while your ubers are waiting for the 1 piece left over that's a minute upgrade. The other week, split your raid in two, bring 10-15 others in to each of those. Then when those hybrid raids do well, the original 25-man group can go retire or do "fun runs" while the new 25-man group struggles, learns and eventually comes to farm the instance as well.
Or, whatever - you people are 0.0001% of the population. The rest of the bell curve will go back to the daily struggle for opportunity.

#3 that makes absolutely no sense. Why would you get pve gear for pvp. PVP gear = more stamina and resiliance.

@#6, weapons, trinkets, rings etc. and the tier sets are still good starter pvp gear.

Cry me a river about being done with raid content. What a stupid topic.

What is wrong about wanting loot anyways? It is an integral part of the game! Moreover, if they did not care about loot, why would they farm content they have already mastered? Its foolish attitudes like the one expressed in the "facing exactly that situation," link above that promted me to leave raiding for good.

I've never heard of the need to recruit for farm content. At least on my server kara guilds are a dime a dozen. Even a guild like mine which is working to clear SSC/TK has its pick of as many bored kara geared players as it could ever need, let alone a guild that is clearing black temple.

They are not trying to say wanting loot is bad, Its only being out for your self that's bad. If everyone helped you get loot - its good form to help them get it too.

Um...what did "Sara" and friends do pre TBC when it was Thursday and, for the 55th time, it was MC night? I would respectfully suggest that if you are worried about finding people because the regulars have "finished off the content", then you're not a guild I'd recommend someone looking for interest join. A guild who wants to get and keep good people regularly varies content and finds things to do.
I came to the game 3 months before BC came out. The drive to get to Kara is incredible and, on more than one occasion, when I've expressed an interest in seeing Naxx or Strath or MC or AQ, I've been told by guild mates, "Nothing in there worth anything anymore. We have to get keyed for Kara." Many players don't even do Scholo. It's required for a Pally's charger. I couldn't believe the guildie who had never been to Scholo before needing his charger.
Blizz put those instances/raids in the original game as part of the content and I want to see them. If you can get 15-20 65+ people, you can run MC. I'm trying to explain to some of the bored members of my guild that there are things to do back in Azeroth as we wait for others to get Kara-keyed. I can hear their eyes roll as I type it.
Some members aren't interested in Kara because they feel it will become as obsolete to those running WOTLK content as Azeroth level 60 instances are to many people running Kara. That is a shame. As a level 70, I pushed to get to this level and missed out on some fun quests which I'm just going back to do now. Got my sprite darter on Sunday.
There is a rich tapestry in the game and it's a shame "Sara" and her guild can't look beyond the "been there done that" attitude.

@4 *claps loudly* I wish more guilds had that kind of an attitude when it comes to raiding. Hopefully more people will read your comment and decide to try that out.
