Patch 2.3 on the PTR: Engineering flying machine reagents
EDIT: YouTube video! ~ Thanks RogueJedi86Look at the screenshot. It's like Christmas came early courtesy of Patch 2.3. Seriously, that is one of the coolest flying mounts in the game. And if that's not good enough for you, click here to see an animated gif of it in action. This mechanical wonder can all be yours if you have the skill.
MMO-Champion was able to get a scrounge up the recipe for the two Engineering Flying Machine schematics:
Engineering: Flying Machine
Reagents:
- Adamantite Frame (2)
- Fel Iron Bar (30)
- Handful of Fel Iron Bolts (8)
- Star Wood (8)
- Fel Iron Toolbox
- Elemental Seaforium Charge (4)
I'm not a Grandmaster Engineer myself, but these components don't look too difficult to gather. The only sticking point I see is the Elemental Seaforium Charge comes from a recipe that requires Revered faction with the Consortium to purchase. But the Charges aren't BoP so you can always buy them from another Engineer.
The Epic Flying machine after the jump!
Engineering: Turbo-Charged Flying Machine
Reagents:
- Flying Machine Control
- Khorium Power Core (8)
- Felsteel Stabilizer (8)
- Hula Girl Doll
The Flying Machine Control is what you get when you make the 350 Flying Machine. It's the "reins" you use to summon the mount. The Khorium Power Core and the Felsteel Stabilizer can be either crafted (350+) or purchased in Netherstorm. The Hula Girl Doll can be purchased from our favorite scam artists Griftah in the Lower City of Shattrath. A complete breakdown of all the raw materials needed can be found in this WoW Head comment thread.
The reagents involved are surprisingly simple to get considering it's used to make an Epic Mount. I suppose Engineers will pay through the nose just to level from 350 to 375 anyway. Keep an eye on the next installment of our Professions weekly column, Insider Trader. Lisa Poisso will be covering tips to max out your Engineering.

All I want to know is that will the engine nacelles rotate forward when you take off like a real VOTL plane?
jlb Oct 12th 2007 4:20PM
I think I will be returning to WoW just because of this.
Bart Oct 12th 2007 4:28PM
Cant wait till it comes out. Gonna sell all my fel iron and khorium, at ridicolous prices. I'll make you engineers pay through the nose. And if someones post lower than me, i'll just buy you out. I'm gonna make me some money
ThorinII Oct 12th 2007 4:28PM
@2 Same here!
Ghen Oct 12th 2007 4:29PM
didn't griftah get banned from Shattrah?
Ghen Oct 12th 2007 4:30PM
oops, read the next post D'oh.
ThorinII Oct 12th 2007 4:30PM
I'm already maxed on my engineering too!
Fizzle Oct 12th 2007 4:32PM
@1 As someone pointed out in an earlier blog...

Now that's either a really good fake, or a reason to dust off my engineer. :D
Arras Oct 12th 2007 4:37PM
My engy is a lowly level 35 and around 150 engineering skill. Time for some grindin' :D
I will have that 'copter

There's a video of it in action:

And suddenly I'll be making no money as an engineer. Woo.
ninjasuperspy Oct 12th 2007 5:35PM
Now that is just too nice. It looks even better in motion that I ever thought it could.
Greylen Oct 12th 2007 5:41PM
@5: They moved him just outside of the city. You can still buy all of his fabulous amulets and trinkets :)
I disagree with the idea that materials involved are "relativly simple". Kind of like the phrase "It's not the drop that kills you, it's the sudden stop", the price of riding 375 will kill your pocketbook much more than the price of the mount itself. Infact, given that a "standard" epic flying mount only costs 200g, I would say that the engineering mount will be expecially difficult to make. As if Khorium wasn't hard enought to come by before, now it will be even more so.
For someone straight-up buying all of the needed materials, I can see this thing costing quite a bit. Here is the raw mats list for the regular flying mount:
[Adamantium Ore]x16
[Primal Earth]x2
[Fel Iron Ore]x166
[Star Wood]x8
[Mote of Fire]x2
[Mote of Earth]x4
And for the epic flying mount (which includes a regular flying mount), the grand total is:
[Adamantium Ore]x16
[Primal Earth]x2
[Fel Iron Ore]x222
[Star Wood]x8
[Mote of Fire]x2
[Mote of Eatch]x4
[Khorium Ore]x48
[Primal Fire]x8
[Eternium Ore]x64
[Hula Girl Doll]x1
Now, granted, there is an unmatched cool factor with the engineering mount, and I think it is great. But don't call the materials "simple" :)
Tekkub Oct 12th 2007 5:52PM
I hate engineering's many levels of materials... ugh...
For those interested in hording the mats now, the non-epic's raw mats are:
152 Fel Iron Ore
16 Adamantite Ore
1 Mote of Fire
22 Mote of Earth (2 primals, 2 motes)
Mogwell Oct 12th 2007 6:10PM
The screenshot shows 30 fel iron bars not 50 for the standard mount. Just so you know.
Rich Oct 12th 2007 6:35PM
The mats are relatively simple. It is just a ton of them and none of them are hard to acquire. I think the hardest mat to get on that list is the Eternium ore.
Gamerz22 Oct 13th 2007 1:08AM
People! Don't sell this at a low cost! We need to milk as much money out of this as possible :D (100g-200g or even 500g imho... maybe more!)
Michel Oct 12th 2007 7:03PM
I will continue to sell ore for low prices as always, because I dislike people using passions to gain money.
Charles Oct 12th 2007 7:06PM
Dangit WoWinsider! I went out and spent 20g on a stack of Fel Iron so I would have 50 for my mats stock, and now I see you only need 30! You guys owe me 20g.
Sindral Oct 12th 2007 7:11PM
@ Bart,
I hope you're on my server. I'm going to keep selling ore at regular prices, and you can go ahead and buy mine to try and make a profit. Hope your supply will match the demand. Mine will. I'm going to be cruising around in a shiny flying machine (already have most of those mats), with your gold jingling in my pocket. Thanks.
