How much do you love Warcraft?
Sevenfold loves the Horde. Not like "I will die for the Horde! And then switch to Rogue to farm primals for awhile." I mean "is there any way to make my arm bigger so the tattoo will fit?" That's how much he loves the Horde.I've heard of people getting married at Blizzard conventions or doing outrageous things for Murloc suits, but permanent ink doesn't come out in the wash, if you know what I mean.
This one is just one in the latest of Warcraft ink we've talked about, but I have to throw in my two cents here.
I love the game. I really do. And I have a tattoo, though not Warcraft related, so I understand the passion that moves on to get inked. But I'm not sure I would get a Warcraft themed tattoo. Think about it. Would it have to go next to your Everquest tat? Your Meridian59 piercing? Your picture of your son named Zork?
What about you? Do you love Warcraft so much you would permanently emblazon it on your body? And, if so, why?

Morn getting a tattoo for the horde is well lame lol. WoW is pop culture at best and this guy will forever be explaining to people when they ask "what's that??", and ten to twenty years from now he will sheepily reply "uh well its for the horde you know that video game from 20 years ago.
Then it will be equal to seeing a guy with a Space Invaders logo on his arm.

This is all pathetic. Its a bloody game, and should be treated no more than that. Keep the line between reality and fiction clear.

In 20 years, no one will know what that tattoo means, which means he can tell people whatever he likes about it.

theres nothing wrong with tattooing your passion on your arm. is this any different than your favorite band that MEANS something to you? i for one plan to get an alliance tattoo eventually. i wish i would have started off as a horde, but the real life friendships ive gained from playing WoW is just undeniable. playing the game has been 2 of the best years of my life, and i wouldnt take that back for anything. if thats not meaningful, i dunno what is.

At least is not a tattoo of a significant other, and you dont have to "fix" it later, as far as explaining what it is, 20 years from now, you can say whatever you want to say it is, you dont have to shrug and say that is from a game from 20 years ago, if they ask you can always say its a family crest or something like that.
Justo Oct 14th 2007 12:10PM
i should also mention, that a tattoo is meaningful to the person who gets it. who gives a shit about what other people think it is or what other people think about it? as long as it has significant enough meaning for the person getting the tattoo thats all that matters. its not stupid that he got that tattoo. the stupid tattoos are the women who get butterflies or frogs tattooed on them because :they are cute". THAT is a stupid tattoo, not this.

"Then it will be equal to seeing a guy with a Space Invaders logo on his arm."
Wait, are you saying that you think that people honestly wouldn't recognize a space invaders symbol? :P
Maybe you should have chosen for your example something a little more obscure than a game on a level of public recognition like that of pac-man.
andrea Oct 14th 2007 12:31PM
anyone who finds this game involving enough to do something like that, doesn't do much else.
Leshrac Oct 14th 2007 12:45PM
Kick ass my Horde brethren, kick ass.

To be honest, I'd get a Warcraft tatoo but not because I love WoW but beacuse some of the designs in the Warcraft universe are amazing

Who cares? If people want to do it let 'em.

I would do it, sure. I have spent a chunk of the last three years playing this game, I have good friends in game, who have become RL friends, I have family in game, IF is as familiar to me as my apartment.
Putting a small symbol of a very pleasurable part of my life somewhere will bring back good memories when I notice it twenty years down the road.
Theserene Oct 14th 2007 1:38PM
I would get a Warcraft tattoo, because so much of the artwork is truly inspired.
As to those who mock it? Do you honestly think your opinions actually matter to those of us with ink?
AKWildhammer Oct 14th 2007 1:52PM
If RL wouldn't be keeping me so busy atm and I had more time for WoW to make it special to me I don't see why I wouldn't get a tattoo.
I don't think it would be as big as above, maybe just a small detailed symbol somewhere on my arm. That sounds cool!

I have kraanan written in marker on my forhead.

I'm not sure I can imagine how someone can be passionate enough about a faction to get a tattoo. I'd think they must be a little mentally unhinged.

Many people use tattoos like a journal, to mark important events and memorable times in their lives. I've got some heavily fannish proclivities, and I wouldn't have a problem with commemorating them perminantly on my skin. It doesn't necessarily have to be a matter of "Horde for Life" uber-geekhood.
