Breakfast Topic: Does Zul'Aman appeal to you?

With the new 10-main, post-Karazhan instance, Zul'Aman, the centerpiece of Patch 2.3, I have to wonder just how much of the WoW population it's going to service. There's the non-raiders who will never put in the time commitment to do even the 10-man raids and then there's the 25-man raiders who see the new 10-man zones as not worth the time.
So I figured I would take a poll:
| Yes, I'm waiting outside in the Ghostlands in anticipation of the Patch | |
|---|---|
| No, I care not for such things |
If you are active 10-man raider, and you answer "no" I'd love to hear your reason below. If you are a non-raider or a 25-man raider and answer "yes" also please explain.

We are really looking forward to ZA. My guild mainly does 25-mans (Gruul/Mag/SSC), and we haven't had a guild sponsered Karazhan in some time, because all the core raiders have long been exalted with Violete Eye and there are few (if any) upgrades left for us. ZA will be awesome because we'll be able to run with that 10-man core group and get really good upgrades to items.

(c) I haven't done Kara yet!

as stated above the loot in ZA is a good upgrade for kara loot yet as were already doing 25 mans atm and gruuls not getting sceduled anymore i dont think the guild will put any real effort in going there which i find shameful :( giev bear mount :D

While I don't think ZA will have the atmosphere of Karazhan I'm looking forward to it just as I would any other piece of new content.

I'm really looking forward to it, even though I've never even set foot in Karazhan. I'm hoping that I have a little more uninterrupted free time in the future so I can get into both places before WLK comes out.

I just see it is as more content that the closest I'll come to actually seeing is on wowhead or /inspect

Just more stuff that 5% of the population will see. Interesting? Yes. More unnecessary end-game stuff? Yes. Do more than 5% of guilds even make it to Kara? No.

@5 Same here. My guild is struggling with Maiden / Moroes so there is little to no chance that I'll ever see the inside of Zul'Aman apart from the test realms.

Two weeks ago, my group finally cleared Karazhan - so it seems Zul Aman comes just in time. We'll be doing one night Karazhan and one night Zul Aman - and all of us are pretty excited about the prospect of new content.

I personally would love to see more 5 man content
I tryed Karazhan ( was only in there for 10 mins) once with my guild and never again as I hated the bitchness from certain members in the group it spoiled the whole conecpt of doing any groups larger than 5 when doing the instances for me

Actually, I believe the number of guilds that have gotten into Kara is closer to 70%. It isn't that hard. Just because you don't raid for whatever reason doesn't mean it's "unnecessary end-game stuff".

If your guild can't go 10 mins in Kara without bitching at each other, they suck.
Kiyokko Oct 15th 2007 8:43AM
My guild isn't ready to raid for another 2-3 months, but I'll definitely head over there opening day with the few 70's my guild has so we can pick off any stray Alliance trying to get to the raid. *evil laugh*

While I think your numbers are wrong, I agree with the sentiment - it seems like more end-game content to push us further towards "finishing" the game. I am pretty sick of continuing towards an end, when it means I skip out on other things. So ZA goes live, then what? It becomes harder to find people for five-man content, for ten-man Kara, etc. - just like it's impossible now to find anyone who wants to do Molten Core. Drop in a five-man in the mid-60s or 67-70, or add something that we can run to get ready for Kara.
We've got a group of near and @ 70s getting attuned, but attunement seems a lot like work. I think once we've done Kara, I'll be done - ZA will hold no particular appeal for me.

As a boomkin main, Im VERY happy to see ZA. In fact, ZA is the only reason I quit PVPing and channeled my efforts into raiding. Got my Kara key in less than a week (bad pugs), then hit revered with most of the factions, and got myself tied to a raiding guild. I've been hitting Grull and the Eye on a weekly basis, and even did a smooth Kara run. Nailed Prince on the 2nd try. Until 2.3 I plan to keep getting upgrades and hit Kara more so I'm on par with where I need to be to be riding in for ZA from the word go.

@6 - With a player population of 9m 5% is an awful lot of people. My guild runs two Kara groups and has just downed Prince, according to Bosskillers that gives us a world ranking in the 27,000 range. Now if every guild who'd downed Prince only had 10 players that would still be 270,000 people who had completed Kara and were looking to move on. If you are in a guild that has just downed Attuman (the first Kara boss) you're ranking would be in the 40k range, so it's not hard to say that there's maybe half a million people currently running Kara.
There's only 200 guilds in the world who taken down Illidan and completed Black Temple so it seems to me a good thing that Blizz are catering for the hundreds of thousands that may never get that far by giving us some new 10 man content to work at once we've all finished Kara.

25 man raider now, with some Kara runs for alts. So 1) seeing something new is awesome 2) there sounds like a real challenge with the 'faster you run through, better the rewards' 3) off spec gear is nice 4) It just sounds really *fun*. I love new fights.
kunukia Oct 15th 2007 9:14AM
I have been in Kara a few times, but just don't raid enough to even finish it. I would love to raid more, and if I get the chance I will, then I will care more.

Are you nuts? Mechanar, Botanica, Arca, BM, SV, SH, SL, numerous quests with good rewards... ALL PREPARE YOU FOR KARA! Why the heck would we need more?
Honestly people, after TBC now being out for 7 or 8 months or whatever, you would almost have to intentionally try to not be geared for Karazhan.

My guild has no hope of ever seeing 25 mans so more 10 man content is perfect. I like the timed options for running ZA and I imagine there will be days we pop in with our best people and blaze through it.
