New recipes in Patch 2.3
We've already covered the new Engineering Flying Machines (and what it takes to get them!), but there are also many other new recipes introduced with Patch 2.3. Our very own Insider Trader gave us an overview of profession additions and changes, but I wanted to focus on some of the new recipes that will be available.First, there is a new weapon enchant in town that drops from the bosses in Zul'aman: Executioner. It ignores 840 of your opponent's armor, which is an increase of 2-5% dps according to the commenters on WoW Head. The proc rate isn't clear yet. There are two movies of it on YouTube. This one showcases the glowy effect and this one shows the weapon in action. It's a 375 enchant and takes 6 Void Crystals, 10 Large Prismatic Shards, 6 Greater Planar Essences, 30 Arcane Dusts and 3 Elixirs of Major Strength.
New Jewelcrafting , Engineering and Cooking recipes after the jump!
Next up is the Chaotic Skyfire Diamond, a meta head slot gem that grants +12 Spell Critical and +3% Increased Critical Damage. This was promised after the Patch 2.2 nerfed the Relentless Earthstone Diamond to no longer affect spells. The requirements appear to be 2 blue gems. The recipe requires 365 JC and is dropped by Coilskar Sirens in Shadowmoon Valley. Some casters may not be happy with the gem requirements, but desto locks and some mages may consider it worth the trouble.
The Field Repair Bot 110G is exactly as it sounds: 110 gold worth of mats (48 Fel Iron Ore, 16 Adamantite Ore, 6 Khorium Ore, 6 Primal Earth & 1 Primal Fire) for a field repair bot that stocks an assortment of poison vials, spell reagents, bullets and arrows, etc. Hard to justify spending the cash to make this over the current field repair bot. But if this is your thing, start with the Gan'arg Analyzers in Blade's Edge for the recipe drop.
Finally, the new Cooking recipes:
- Spicy Hot Talbuk for +20 Hit Rating and Spirit
- Skullfish Soup for +20 Spell Critical Strike Rating and Spirit
- Broiled Bloodfin for +20 Stamina and Spirit
- Kibler's Bits for +20 Strength and Spirit for your pet
- Delicious Chocolate Cake which seems to have no effect other than a Very Happy buff. And isn't that enough?
Head over to the PTR if you want an early look at these.

Anybody on PTRs look at the daily cooking quests? I keep trying to copy over my character, and keep getting denied. I want to start stocking up now to get those recipes as quickly as possible.

"Broiled Bloodfin for +20 Stamina and Strength"
needs to be spirit instead of strength

Now I am convinced all the developers are male. 'Bout time we got some chocolate recipe for mood enhancement.

Awesome! Even more proof they should just sell a more expensive version of the game that starts you at level 70. Would it be too difficult to throw in a few recipes/enchants for 1-300? Are they really fooled into thinking they've got that completely and perfectly covered?

@3 I had no problem leveling all my professions on different toons, getting from 350-375 was a pain in the butt though.

+hit food? Yes please!

You forgot a cooking recipe. Thunderchops(corect me if im wrong). Ingrediants= Clefthoof Meat + Lightning Eel.
Effect: Chance on melee hit to proc a bolt of lightning hitting nearby targets.
My druid on PTR learned it from a recipe obtained from cooking daily reward.

I'd love food that gives +hit or more +dmg to spells.
Gill Oct 15th 2007 12:37PM
Anything for us Leatherworkers? C'mon Blizz! It feels like you're forgetting us!!!
Tiforix Oct 15th 2007 1:10PM
You forgot to include Moonkins among those would would love the new meta gem. For raiding at least, it's better than the one from Terrokar (+12 spell damage and minor run speed increase).

Chocolate Cake - +20 to spirit and renders female characters immune to cramping, bloating, crabbiness, and Corrupted Blood.
nav Oct 15th 2007 12:53PM
Todd: You do realise there's already +sp dmg food in the game?
Heraclea Oct 15th 2007 12:58PM
The constant stream of melee nerfs, where the damage and playability we lose are supposedly made up by the addition of further inaccessibly high-level items, is slowly eroding my will to continue.
Khanmora Oct 15th 2007 1:10PM
@8 check the Patch notes, there are a ton of great changes and new recipes for Leatherworkers.
dacamper Oct 15th 2007 1:28PM
But why would anyone spend 110G on mats for a one-use only repair bot? Surely only the high end raids are going to find this thing useful... can't people just carry some extra reagents? :)

Wow, Skullfish Soup is pretty cool, but why does it have to increase Spirit? Come on, give us a stat buff that everyone can use, like Int.
I'll definitely be making myself one of those new gems too. That's awesome.
Skrilla Oct 15th 2007 1:39PM
Since they gave us a flying mount they had to give us a slap in the face with the Field Repair Bot 110G, there is no way of justifying those kind of mats on this thing since it is one time use only.
BigRedPimp Oct 15th 2007 1:41PM
Who cares about a new (and expensive) Field Repair Bot. Give us the crafted mailbox. :)
